  1. Jim Riddick, how could i forget? my mistake.... and i assume that when you say the best player to come out of Maryville/Alcoa/Blount County, you are referring to Lee Humphrey?
  2. Exactly, thats what i was wondering. everyone is talking about the past two years, but we are talking about Former high school greats, as in the complete past of tennessee high school basketball. Chism And Smith and all those guys are good, but lets not forget the players from further back than 2 or 3 years ago: Penny Hardaway(Treadwell) Tony Delk(Haywood Co.) David Marsh(Alcoa) Michah Marsh(Alcoa) Travis Stinnet(Alcoa) Herman Thompson(Alcoa) A.W. Davis (Rutledge High) Steve Hammer(Middleton) Bill Justus(Fulton) Jim Montgomery(Kittrell) Donald Dodgen(Gatlinburg Pittman) Just to Name a few
  3. i happened to notice that, and i was wondering if anyone else did too. I lve it haha /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. not alot of players from football for the begining of the season... and mix that with the loss of 5 to graduation from the 07 season, and the lone returning senoirs not playing this year and you get a team that consist of (even after the football players return) : a AA team that is not only returning 0 seniors, but is only returning 3 players that even saw significant playing time. Tyler Robinson, Taylor Brown, and Sam Thompson are the only players on this years team that played last year. Michael Haynes played pick up time at the end of some games, but other than that, alcoa is starting from scratch with 0 seniors. and they have beaten a well manned carter team already this season. however, with a loss to Gibbs, dont think i am getting ahead of myself, i know that it will be a long long long season for the tornadoes. Alcoa's main focus in basketball is defense, beacsue alcoa hardly ever has a "superstar" that can take over a game. however, if the other team cant score, then they cant win. That aside, Alcoa still needs to score some /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> In the transistion from last year to this year, Alcoa lost almost 90% of its scoring i would say. Justin Ridenour, Trey Sewell, and Kyrus Lanxter were three of the top scorers, and Daniel Sullivan was a defensive machine. Randall was THE offensive point guard. Taylor brown is the only returning player that had a hand in scoring. Yes this year will be tough for the tornadoes, but trust me, they will bounce back, and will be a terror for the 2-3 years that follow this season
  5. well i know both of you, and im going to go with Alcoachamps on who is closer to randall..... but that is not the topic of the thread either haha. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  6. Cobb is a fantastic Quarterback, it is amazing how he takes over a game. not trying to be clich?©, but he really does remind me of Tebow.... alot of compact strength, can break two or three tackles, burst of speed, and the arm and accuracy to throw when needed..... All of those things aside, he is getting recruited as a WR/DB at almost everycollege. that is not to say they wont give him a shot, and he deserves, i mean he won the Mr. Football for godsake, and i would love to see him play quarterback, dont get me wrong.... im just relaying what i hear from people close to cobb. Position aside, Randall could see PT at any school in the nation. he is just that good, and he is humble about it. that is what really sets him aprt, and that means he will never stop getting better.
  7. exactly.... the marshpit came into effect in the freshman year of the 07 class, consisting of freshman and sophmores..... with the graduation of '06 and '07, the Marsh Pit will never again be at full tilt... im sure the Maryville game and the W.B. game will offer a little different story than the carter game, simply because they are blount co. games.
  8. What about the "Marsh Pit" of Alcoa.... my four years of high school, only one student section stood a chance, and that was when we went to Sullivan South for a Sub-State game... other than that, i dont care how many kids are in a student section, i have never seen anybody more hype than the "Marsh Pit"
  9. being a great shooter isnt about scoring points, or having a game where you hit six or seven three's. Its hitting shots when your team needs you too, and being able to do that ona nightly basis. Sometimes those go hang in hand. Larry Bird was a great shooter and a great scorer and the same goes for Pete Maravich. But lebron james might score 40 point and not hit a single three. Or Kobe might have a night where he hits 9 three's, but is he a "great shooter" i think not, he is a great player, but J.J. would shoot him out of the gym. You can tell a great shooter, by the way they release the ball, and the confidence they have when they are on the court. I can walk into a basketball game between two teams i havent even heard of, and pick out the best shooter in the gym, and he might not even score that night.
  10. By the way, ask fans in or around blount Co. and they will tell you that Maryville is one of the cockisest schools around. I personally dont believe that, i see it as confidense, the same that alcoa has. I think maryville has a great prgram and the right to do whatever they want, and i see alcoa as the same way.
  11. Alcoa is not good at all. they cant run the ball with GP, and their Mr. Football Winning Quarterback def. can't handle the pressure in the backfield from GP's rush. GP by 21.......... Does that make all you guys complaining feel any better? i mean is that what you want to hear? all that people do is start a thread on the Alcoa game and then state their opinions/facts. then an alcoa fan will do the same and they are bashed for it.."Alcoa Recruits" "Alcoa doesnt play anybody good" "What about maryville"...... each thread is about one game, and one game only, and that is the game that is happening the next week. This week being state shampionship week, i see alcoa winning their fourth gold ball in a row. alcoa by 17. Keep The Dynasty Alive!!!
  12. My statement had nothing to do with "the point you were making"... i was just stating fact. "It is a law of physics that no1 in 2A can hang with Alcoa" i mean must teams are just to slow, and if a team is fast enough, the coaching factor comes into play. coach Rankin is amazing. Alcoa's games are like the coyote chasiing the Roadrunner, some get close, but it never happens. BTW, Cobb is getting scouted for a DB as well.........
  13. Alcoa all the way.... no1 can hang with them, its just a law of physics
  14. But the question is, which orange and white?. i hear that clemson is coming on hard
  15. Respect has nothing to do with my going there. At least from me, respect is earned, and the football program at CAK has earned my respect. Along with that, my father's business dealings have nothing to do with a highschool football game, nor my respect for them. My family has anything that it has because it works for it, just like every other family. CAK is not the only highschool/college around either.
  16. "Thesmartestpersonalive" may be cocky, and Give alcoa a bad name as some would say, but he is right with his facts. That game Alcoa only ran a hangfull of offensive plays, most were defensive touchdowns. And when a kid pics the ball off, you cant tell him just to fall over and not score, and the same thing. if a fullback breaks through the secondary, he isnt just gonna run out of bounds for no reason. All that aside, i se it being 49-0 at the half and maybe a second half touchdown, in alcoa's favor.
  17. I dont actually think alcoa was running up the score. i think they were scoring every chance they had, to be safe. In the first half, it went from being 21-0 to 28-21 in one quarter. Alcoa wanted to make sure that even if CAK went on a run that they would still be safe. so contrary to a few post, i think the "running up" of the score was Actually a sign of respect rather than disrespect. I have to give credit to CAK, as a die hard fan of alcoa, i respect no one more than CAK, because if you give them any hope at all, they are gonna win that ball game
  18. Yea but there is still a problem with the statement old Mr. Logan. Cobb can't be stopped. he is the tebow of 2A, so if you manage to stop the run its gonna take nine in the box which could lead to another 98 yard touchdown like earlier this year. hes got the speed to run it, strength to break tackles and the arm/accuracy to throw it where ever and however far he wants. So while stopping the run is possible, your only oppening up the pass. Some would say, "Pick your poison"
  19. well that will be hard since cobb, hodge and robinson play bothways /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  20. why would making alcoa pass the ball be a problem? check cobb's stats for his passing
  21. Alcoa has a good Defence, and i doubt there is a better one. but either way they are the best TEAM in the state and have been for the past three years. and that is what matters. u also have to score to win, so good luck to one of these all-star defences stopping Cobb and Co. because i doubt it will happen.
  22. correction, he DOES haha. hes on special teams both ways, DB and QB. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
