  1. I was not at the LA/ND game, I went to see another player,a defender,in a small town in Georgia. I too had to take that road out of Livingston to Georgia, a few days ago.I always enjoy the TN Scenery and the mountains.
  2. Thank you for the compliment, but I am not related to Kat or her family. When talent is found, you track, you talk, you invest time, you coach, its your job. Most of you are from large schools, area, more $$, travel teams etc. YOU, as in the bigger schools, ARE EXPECTED to perform better, simply put you have access to more players, more money, more club teams, etc... When a rural school comes in and do not have the advantages BUT are still willing to keep trying,--Thats says it all. Most do not know anything about Kat Nigro, yet everyone is rushed to judge her, and some even hate her. She does not come from money, does not go to a private school, not a big area, when High School season is over, she travels 100+ miles ONE WAY, 3x a week, to get to her club practices, and has been doing that for 4+ years. I found out a lot about this young lady, that's my job, as I do for the others in other states. There has been numerous articles written about her, numerous awards. She has EARNED her success. I know she will be supported by many when she continues her soccer career. When speaking to the TSSA, they are the first to tell me that Kat Nigro opened the door for many at TN ODP.My intention is not disrespect for any other player or team, my intention is simple. You, the TN teams, are playing with a girl that one day you will say "I watched her play" or "I played with her" or "she's from TN" with pride. I joined CoachT to find out about players, many times the posts are about players parents, it defeating the purpose. I dont post much here in TN, but Again, thank you for the compliment.
  3. I saw her play in California, at the US National ID Camp, when she was just 14 years old. I knew right then that this is one player I was going to keep my radar on. I have seen her for 4 years at different events, Cali, Florida, Canada, even had the pleasure of being at the Sweden/Denmark event when she was there. I have spoken to her parents, other coaches, Her National coaches, regional coaches, and then when I heard my friend Anson had is radar on her, well then I just became a "fan" rather than a recruiter. I still have my radar on other Nigro players.
  4. In MY opinion, I would not recruit any player from the SM team, I am looking for Talent, sportsmanship, integrity and above all RESPECT, respect for her teammates, her coach and the school. Their behavior was unacceptable. You cant bully your way through games, you have to really have the talent to win championships. Which when it came right down to just talent (PK'S) THE TALENTED TEAM REALLY WON. CCS GREAT JOB !

  7. great job TO ALL THE TEAMS---Remember, its not over until that last whistle blows! GOOD LUCK
  8. i don't know if the person who previously posted this was a yeah or nea but kat is a perfect example of a crazy good high level player that even with her talent has 100 goals currently over 3 years or 33 avg per year. that sounds reasonable and i know against some weak teams she could score 10 in a game if allowed. congrats kat and keep it going... If your talking about the National Team player from LA, then I can tell you first hand, the games that I watched, she could have scored easy 10 goals a game, but she continued to pass the ball to her teammates. This is one player we will be watching on TV for years to come. GREAT SPORTMANSHIP, GREAT PLAYER !
  9. Always look forward to watching East v West. This will be good games, respectful audience and quality refs. Good Luck Ladies
  10. thanks for the info, good soccer to watch
  11. You are correct, that is part of why High School Soccer can never compare to club soccer, that is were your talent is truely proven, on evenly matched games. Its easy to beat down opponents that are obviously lacking in talent. That doesnt make you a better player, or a better team. The true test is when you get to the really hard games. THATS what makes you the better player, the better team. To run up the score is self serving and pointless...does anybody really take you serious after that?
  12. I noticed his wife was encouraging the other teams also. Because of the NCAA Rules, I did not approach her at this tournament. But I had found out that they have another daughter that plays for Brentwood Soccer Club, and is as good as #9 and #14, so that tells me something about both parents. I would love to have all 3 girls on my team. With the hard work and talent that I saw this weekend by these 2 girls having a 3rd with all that talent also, is not a coincidence. There should be more parents like them around. To set the record straight, I DID hear one of the Powell Parents say "Take her out", during that game. Some college coaches walk away from players because of parents.
  13. To be perfectly honest, I was there just to see what talent was around for the 2011 and 2012 years. As soon as I saw the fight, I lost interest in the team and players. I know that is harsh, but that is the truth. My memory of that game is the fight not the game. Yes, the other players should be recognized, but I think that fight has now labeled that team. I am interested to know what action the coach took against that player after the tournament. Did he do anything to show his team that kind of behavior will not be tolerated? or did he blame it on the ref as so many do ? It is unacceptable at any level to strike another player.
  14. I heard and saw the mother telling the Powell forwards to turn and shoot that they "could do it". I thought that was great to hear her cheer on for the forwards of the other team to score. I also heard her REACT to the powell parents that were telling their players to take kat "out". her reaction is understandable. I did her her say that the team had to "step it up" and everyone had to "do their part", It was a difficult game to watch when there are only a few giving it there all, that game. I dont think Kat ever really stopped giving it her all, I do not know about #14, this is the first I have seen her play. I did hear the COACH tell the girls that they all had to help and do there jobs. On another note the Powell girls have talent, I do feel that they could succeed. I do agree every game is important. Sometimes though, you just have to take them for what they are. Success in the rest of the season.
  15. I have been so busy with my season I have not been able to attend many HS Games. Just wanted to thank you for keeping the post updated and for your views, They are appreciated.
  16. I finally got a chance to get on the pitch this season, I did not think it was possible, but Kat Nigro is even better than last season. She played outstanding and took her team to a victory the first game, made an awesome back of the head goal the second, and by the third game it was looking like her teammates were already on the bus heading home. Sweet Goal she had that last game, taking it by herself from the midfield past all the powell players to score the only goal. My opinion, New forward #5-FAST, but needs some more knowledge of the game and a little more foot skills, can drop back to help outa little more. They have a new freshman? midfielder #14 OUTSTANDING!, dont know who she is, but plays hard, runs hard and knows the game, great passes, works like a champion, if I had to guess, she is related to #9, they both run hard, play hard and never gave up., they play outstanding together. Defense #3, improved tremendously from last season, I like her, she has ability, needs a little more power kicks. #20-new player, runs hard--to much dribbling, but has talent. This could be a better team if they were in better shape, did more subs, and did less standing. I think Powell is improving and has alot of potential, but a group of parents that were shouting at them, really took them out of their game. The players are so talented. Maryville, girls PLAYED HARD EVERY GAME! nice team work, never gave up, played good soccer, solid midfielders, good defense, good forwards. CCS- Played great soccer, looked a little tired. Mcminn- unacceptable behavior. but you cant let a few bad apples ruin the whole team, they have talent. GREAT Tournament, nice fields, one thing I thought could have been better, the admission price, too high. Back to the west, great being in the south..
  17. What a good example you have given the coaches. Thank you.... I wish there were more coaches like you teaching the young adults how to play soccer. You are an outstanding person.
  18. Ever hear the term "one man can't do it all" thats why its called a TEAM. the redhead wasnt really that good, I hear Kat was sick that day with a sinus infection. That's what my "college coach" friends tell me . They werent impressed with the redhead
  19. Good Luck to ALL the WEST, no predictions here, I dont want to step on toes, There is some GREAT soccer to watch in the West....and I'll be there.
  20. Its hard to lose, BUT sometimes you have to lose to win. I see that Powell is a weak team this season, so lets put all the energy to making it better instead of complaining. Give the coach a chance, and I guess my other question is. If you or your child is only in it to win it, what lesson are you getting from it? what lesson is your child getting from it? Is it worth it? I know some of the players from Powell are on travel teams,BUT it takes 11 players not just 1 or 2, to win or lose. and it does not help if the parents are bad mouthing about the coach, that only gives the players an excuse for their personal performances, or lack of. I think we have missed the basic element RESPECT, for each other, and for the coach. Good luck ladies, concentrate, practice hard, play hard and dont lose your love for the game.
  21. I enjoyed watching most of the game, until the parents of the CAK team started acting "ugly" which really did not help the players. CAK has some good players, with a little more training their forwards can do better. Over all, it might have been better for the team if the parents were less verbal. Bearden, as in the past, have a group of parents that have self control and just lets the coaches do their job and the players do theirs. Congratulations to Bearden, we will see you at States.
  22. Briarcrest played all 20 players that came to Oak Ridge which was a great experience for some of the girls. Again...Oak Ridge played well and deserved the win. Yes, Oak Ridge played VERY GOOD. What a pleasure this game was to watch. The sprirt of the players and the parents was contagious. Congratulations great TEAM WORK.
