  4. Does anybody know if Warren Co. has another scrimmage?
  5. We upload highlight video of players to the internet and email links to the video to college coaches.
  6. Oakland's freshmen do lift during the school day. The outgoing seniors started the spring and summer leading to their freshman year, showing up in groups of 30-40. I sure this has grown as the Varsity has shown marked improvement.
  7. I don't understand from germxx's post. Did SM run the Wing-t?
  8. I coached for 3 years in Fresno in Clovis East's conference. They are the real deal, each school in that conference has at least 2,500-3,200 kids. That offense is as boring as can be. They had toyed with Spread Stuff, but when it came to nut cuttin' time, that double wing is tough. A few years earlier Clovis West took that "textbook" Wing to to Massilon Ohio and beat them. Another poster had it right when he said that people who think that you can't win in high classifications here are ignorant.
  9. A good back is wasted in the wing-t because he can only run to one side of the formation. Tell that to Wilson Central's Fullback and Quarterback, I think they would disagree
  10. It might be apples and oranges, but Florida does a nice job on the Goalline out of the Gun.
  11. I think Wilkes was pretty good, but I can't be sure, I am not much of an expert. I like what your predictions, Blackman has some good juniors, not so sure about WC, look for Oakland to surprise next season.
  12. Sounds like this might be a dumb question, but what is this guy's background?
  13. Can't speak for the Varsity returners, but the Freshmen are not sending up a whole lot of size. They do have a boat-load of athletes and a quick O-line. They would be well-suited for a wide open offense. Not that it matters much for next season, but down the road...
  14. Agreed about Christmas being an important deadline. But less about installing schemes, but more about changing attitudes and establishing and reinforcing HIGH expectations. It is hard to change a player's way of thinking. If a coach can get the kids to play harder than they think they can play then installing new offensive and defensive systems is really easy.
  15. I really don't think that there are many other opportunities better than this one. With the young players Oakland has coming up and the fact that ALL of the kids are in a weight class with a coach should be enough to succeed (not many schools have that luxury) Anyone who is in this game for pay should get out of it. Coaches who leave schools because the talent level is going down are just telling the world what they know themselves, they can't coach. We need a coach whose teams over-achieve, not someone who wins when he has talent and loses when hedoesn't. Someone whose teams compete with teams that are bigger and faster than his own.
  16. Was that WC guy a coach? If so it was too little too late. I thought on the accidental whistle that there was not enough of a reaction from the WC coaches. That play changed the flow of the game, whether or not what MIGHT have happend to the WC quarterback (BTW I would take that kid in space 1on1 against anyone). In my short experience Smyrna has some issues to work regarding class from their players, from the top all the way down, but in the end the best way to deal with that type of thing is DO NOT LOSE and THAT WON'T BE A PROBLEM.
  17. Played down to the level of the competiton? What!? You got throttled. Period. There is no playing down to the competition in the playoffs against a team from Region 4-5A. Simply put, they should have played up to the level of the competition, instead of looking past the Wildcats.
  18. That seems like an early cutoff, especially since that is not mentioned in the posting on Tssaa.org. But you are in the know and I did hear that a new coach should be in place at Oakland by Christmas. I hope that the DC at WC had a chance to apply.
  19. The rout is one, Majors just scored a long TD WC 28 - R'Dale 7, early in the 4th.
