  1. Hey Coach Miller, Go ahead and tell your story if you feel you were unfairly treated. Don't pretend to be someone else and call yourself a great coach and say you got "screwed".
  2. I hope he can stick it out at Oakdale for a while but, in doing some checking, it seems like Coach Hanlon is a mover. I've found that Oakdale will be at least his fourth job in the last five years. Seeing as how Oakdale is not likely to be the final destination for many people, my guess is this was a chance to get his first head coaching job. Everyone has to have their first some time, but Oakdale is usually just a stepping stone to somewhere else. The big thing is, can he get the kids out? They didn't have many out there this spring.
  3. They were moving in the wrong direction with Strickland. Less than 15 kids came out in the spring and there were rumors there would be no team at Oakdale this season if he stayed. He left a sinking ship. Hopefully it will right itself with a new leader.
  4. Kingston played 2A, 2A (Rockwood and Oliver Springs) and 1A (Harriman). I know that doesn't matter for the tiebreaker in this case because only the overall record counts. My point is...maybe if Kingston played some tougher competition in their non-region games, instead of beating up on the little local schools, maybe they'd be better come time to play their tough region games. Instead they pad their record against little schools, stay home at playoff time, and use the "we're in the toughest region in the state" excuse and point to their winning record to justify how good they are. By the way, they should have lost to 2A Rockwood and 1A Harriman was even with them late in the third until depth took over.
  5. Read again...I did not say you have no intelligence. I said it did not seem we could have an intelligent conversation about Harriman's coach because you based your opinion on very few details. I'm new in the area but from what I've been told, the coach took over a program that was 0-10 for 3 consecutive years with only about 25 kids in the program. The school's enrollment has taken a huge drop over the last few years, thus the drop to single A. Despite that drop in number of students, the football program has around 50 players and has gone 8-4 the last two seasons. Sounds like he's doing something right to me... By the way, I've heard good things about the Midway guy, including from you...but I also heard Harriman beat Midway last year. How does that make the Midway guy better? Seems to me they both must be pretty good coaches. Hope your team does well tonight and you enjoy the game.
  6. So... you are basing this coach and his use of talent based on the results of 4 games over the last 4 years...because of one class that had some guys that were good athletes as freshman? Those kids started as freshman because they came in to a school that had been 0-10 the previous three years. This coach took over the program and has gone 8 - 4 the last two years. I can't believe you'd trash someone on this board with so little knowledge to back it up. I guess that's the reality of cyberspace these days. Anyone can say and believe anything they'd like. I thought we could have an intelligent discussion about this team and I might learn something more about them. I can see that won't happen.
  7. Nice work, eagleflight...making stuff up to try and tick off the Tigers...or using a "fan"'s statements and attributing them to the team. EastTnsports99...I'd like you to elaborate more on the Harriman coach statement you made. Why do you think he doesn't know how to use his talent?
  8. Maybe if you guys scheduled some real non-region games instead of all the smaller county schools, you could get some respect. It's tough to get past the fact that you are beating up on 1A and 2A schools and need those wins to make your season record get past .500. Sure, you are in a great region but you need to start winning some of those games to get respect.
