  1. what is wrong with watertown basketball? Try the word talent. Don't have much. You guys can talk about coaching all you want. The team with the best talent in this district and region usually wins. The difference in coaching only appears when talent is equal.
  2. Team speed won this game for sure, but the Tigers missed their chance when they allowed the second onside kick to go out of bounds, and the Watertown defense did not tackle well nor could they cover the pass. I'm not sure how everyone thinks Watertown is a young team. The defense is losing eight starters and the offense is losing seven starters with four out of five offensive linemen gone and 3 out of four wideouts. Congrats on playing hard all year, I still think Watertown does more with less talent than anyone around. They play with a lot of heart but We could use some speed though.
  3. G'ville kicked a FG with 4 min. remaining to win 16-14. Congrats.
  4. Just to clear up the math. Waterwings beat G'Ville in 1991 26-16 and beat FCS in 1989 18-12.
  5. Watertown still has a lot of work to do before we are tops in the region. Must take care of business vs. MJCA and RBS, and then some big test vs. GVille and Monterey down the road. Watertown has a ton of luck right now. They are lucky the opponents receivers have dropped passes in the endzone. One vs. TC, One Tonight, and One vs. Mercer or the Purple Tigers would be 2 and 3 and licking their wounds. This year the Purple Tigers are more lucky than good.
  6. Heard a rumor that the mighty commanders got beat by Monterey, but I don't believe in rumors much.
  7. Watertown wins 12-8 in a defensive battle tonight.
  8. The score could have been much larger. Are you an idiot? Watertown player drops pass for touchdown in first quarter. Watertown fumbles on the 5 yard line on first and goal. Watertown misses a wide open receiver in the corner of the endozone in the 3rd, and miss a FG= 24 missed points. FCS had an 80 yard drive in 1st quarter for TD. Then just relied on allowing Watertown's punt returners just to not catch the ball or just give the ball back. FCS scored 17 points and possibly should have had a field goal or another touchdown for 27 points. FCS still deserved to win and Watertown's has not recruited enough talent to keep up with FCS, but hopefully we can get some people to move to our town or just stay at the school their zoned(but thats another post). Number 32 was able to run behind the miracle healing of all of FCS players in the offensive line tonight who did a great job, but 32 should have been thrown out of game after swinging and slapping a player in the side of the helme after being tackled in the 3rd quarter, this was after he had grabbed a receiver by the facemask and ripped his helmet off of him for a personal foul facemask in 1st half, and then got up a kicked a player after getting up from the pile. But if your good enough, the refs overlook such "minor" infractions. I thought Watertown "rednecks" showed a lot more character than their "upscale" counterparts in refraining from retaliating, B/C if 32 would have slapped me, I don't think I could have turned the other cheeck. He was lucky in who he slapped. Watertown had one incident in which a player lost his cool after a late hit and push by 24 and another player took up for his teammate. But such is the world of sports, You have to come to expect adversity and be able to overcome and the Tigers were overmatched up front and dominated in the special teams.
  9. I was trying to find out information on the Team CAmp in Waynesboro. Any help or contact numbers.
  10. Not what I was saying, I was saying that he's not as good as Dillehay (but who is). But at every other position, FCS is as good as TC was last year. He's a good HS quarterback just not a Mr. Football Finalists.
  11. Watertown is not even in the same stratosphere as FCS from a talent standpoint. If FCS doesn't win by 30 then they've played bad. Except from the QB position, FCS is as talented as TC was last year.
  12. Congrats to G'ville. They are probably the second or third best team in Single A behind Friendship and South Pitt. Their QB is a double threat with his legs and arm and with the TB getting good runs this team has the ability to go undefeated if they can find a way to know off the commanders.
  13. In Single A ball the most important thing is for guys to stay healthy. The flu bug and injuries really hurt the PT tigers tonight with kids playing despite being ill and a bad case of fumbles. The PT Tigers fumbled a punt which set up DC's only score from the 1 yard line and fumbled a touchdown out of the back of the endzone for the tying score. The receivers for the PT tigers couldn't hold onto passes and some botched snaps from center really derailed the Purple. This was a tale of two very hard hitting and good defenses from both teams.
  14. The future state champs can't help scoring that many points. Just remember last years single A state championship was a blow out too. Single A has become a league of the have's and the have nots. And this year FCS is the elite team, with elite athletes, superior facilities, and the most intelligent and prepared coaches in the game. It is their year to make a run for the gold ball.
  15. My money goes on a private school in Wilson County winning the state as long as the mighty and amazing Rickaway doesn't get hurt, arrested, or suspended. They have a really good middle Linebacker in Wade, and some good complimentary players around Mr. Football Rickaway. They are by far the most talented team in single A ball right now (the alsup kids from Lebanon are now eligible and the Markham kid can run with the best of them) they just have to make sure they don't choke in the playoffs.
  16. Last years Trousdale County Team should be considered on of the best all times. They demolished everyone except FCS on their way to winning a state championship by 50 points.
  17. This should be the game of the week. I expect a close ballgame.
  18. The clock stopped after the Watertown player stole the ball with 1.4 seconds left. The Watertown player was giving the ball back to the referree because he thought he heard a whistle and the HS player grabbed the ball and shot it but the clock was stopped.
  19. And, Watertown beat the number 4 seed at there place by 1, but lost at home by double digits.
  20. Still looks like to me district 8 may do a little better at the regions this year than in years past. HS has played close with some of the top teams in district 7 but W-town has gotten blown out by the 4 top in district. I know on any given nite anything can happen BUT... from the looks of things the region may be better this year and not dominated by district7 Commander only number 1 and 2 have beaten Watertown by double digits. Westmoreland only beat Watertown by 2 points at Watertown, and only beat them by 8 at their place. G'Ville and FCS at the end of 3 when Shults fouls out at Watertown, Watertown is within 9. The only blow out was at FCS. At G'Ville, Watertown leads after 1 quarter, down by 4 at the half before PG and Shults get into foul trouble. Eveyone knows we only play 5 kids and if foul trouble doesn't get us we can compete. Maybe not win but compete.
  21. QUOTE(DCMHMSMHCC @ Feb 18 2006 - 02:24 PM) Watertown had the ball somehow Matthew Smith ended up with the ball shot a three pointer, missed it, Andrew Lewis was under the basket rebounded it and shot it and hit a 2 then the ref blew his whistle.. and the clock was stopped with 1.4 on it... Um you are the person that use to work at Bill Martin's in RBS right? This is is not exactly right. Watertown hit a ft to go up 2 with 10 seconds remaining as coke bottles, popcorn, and other debris were being thrown onto the playing service. He missed the second shot and HS began to push the basketball. Number 20 got the ball drove baseline was double teamed attempted to kick the ball out to 10 and the ball was stolen by 24 with 1.4 seconds on the clock when the clock stopped. Even if there was a whistle blown, Watertown would have went to the FT line with 1.4 seconds on the clock for the double bonus.
  22. Ben Crockett from Friendship, Cody Randolph from Dekalb County, Cason Newton from Westmoreland shoot the Triple very well and with great form.
  23. It will take more than young, energetic, hard working, and intelligent coach to get Lebanon out of the cellar. It will take players. But the "open zoning" of Wilson County has gotten crazy. Everyone complains about what Central is doing in regards to using a rule to their advantage, but their are many student's zoned for Watertown that go to Central/Lebanon. The biggest thing to do is to get a teacher that teaches Japanese and then all you have to do is get every good player in the County to write a letter saying they really want to take Japanese then you could build you a powerhouse in the Wilson County area. And if any players are unhappy about sitting on the bench, try to find another school in the county where you can get some playing time(just find a class or club that's not offered at your school and you can go where you want to.
  24. Watertown won 55 - 53 led by 10 through most of the game before the game just became a foul fest and was able to hold on with some timely FT shooting and a big steal at the end of the game.
  25. JC and Clarkrange are probably the best two teams in the state, but with a tough district and region tourney, it could be tough for both to get there. All it takes is a bad shooting night and another team hitting everything it throws up or a bad seeding for the region tourney to keep a very good basketball team at the house.
