  1. This is crazy, I never said it gets me fired up to have our team win by that score. I don't think it accomplishes anything, but then again, what are we doing on this board trying to find someone to bash with every comment we make. If you go back to my first comment, it was simply admitting that I can see how a score like some of Oak Ridges happen. I had a negative comment when I saw their scores, and felt bad for it. If you want to continue to find something wrong with everything people post, fine knock yourself out.
  2. Maybe it doesn't really matter what impresses me, you or anyone on this board. I am sure the JV players that scored were thrilled they had the opportunity, oh, whoops, I forgot it isn't supposed to be about them is it?
  3. Well that is why we live in America, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I also played soccer in High School and College, and Coached AYSO and Competitive. In those experiences, I have been on both sides of lopsided games......as players and coaches we learn to prepare better, train harder so it doesn't happen again or at least hopefully it doesn't happen again. When you are on the winning side as a Coach you teach your players to be curteous and no showboating, like they do in the other sports. That being said, do I think it was a good thing to win by that margin? Yes, in the respect that the girls have had trouble finishing in games so it should help their confidence. No, in the respect that I feel bad for the ones who lost number one, but also easy games can make players vulnerable in tough hard fought games.
  4. I am sure if I said the Coach told them to make 8 passes you would have said they needed to make 16 passes. As far as working on skills, that is what they did. Considering only 5 of the goals were scored by Starting Varity players, 2 by a Varsity player off the bench, and the rest by JV players I think the girls did fine. Besides you have JV girls that only get to play a limited number of games, and very limited amount of time in Varsity games, how are they going to improve if they don't work hard while they get the opportunity?
  5. Any good scouting tips? Powell plays Karns Thursday night
  6. Powell Varsity played roughly 30 minutes, JV 30 minutes and game called with 20 minutes to go; Final score Powell 10-0 over Loudon. I have changed my opinion on Oak Ridges' high scoring games. My daughter ( which is captain of team ) said coach at half time told them they had to make at least 4 good passes in offensive end before they could shoot, and then it had to be outside the 18. After seeing that game, I can see how a score can end up so outta balance, the girls still have to play the game, they can't just quit playing.
  7. Might be the strength of their schedule, i.e. the quality team they lost to.
  8. It looks like with all the corrections in positions, and the fact that one girl I know in particular plays several positions, maybe we need a Category called Utility player. Just a thought, it seems players who can play multiple positions don't get noticed as much because they are moved around on the field to where a Coach or Team needs them.
  9. I agree Bean, because what many don't realize is that those girls on the Championship teams are pushing the Starters everyday in practice. We do need to remember the Rankings are for fun, and the regular season is there to get playing time and experience for each of these teams so they are ready for the districts tournaments. At that point maybe some of those teams with lesser records may advance, if not they were able to gain valuable experience, through playing the game, as well as the benefit of developing relationships with their teammates that can make their High School year much better. If nothing else comes from my daughter's High School soccer experience, just the confidence she has developed to not be so shy in meeting new people and talking to new people alone, has been worth it. Believe me her team took their whippings last year on the field, but she did learn alot and mature alot as a young lady.
  10. Doesn't matter what anyone elses opinion is, everyone is entitled to their own. I will not make excuses for our game against South Doyle, never said anything about Sequoya and haven't even seen them play. Congrats to them for their win. For the record, I never said Powell should be ranked in the first place, on this boards rankings. I am trying to follow Bigs comments about not putting any negative opinions on here, and it would be appreciated if those on their Ivory Thrones would also
  11. Looks like Central is improving since Oak Ridge played them.
  12. Easy way for them to pad their win column! Kinda like padding your goal differential on weak teams when you win 10-0, 11-0, and 15-0
  13. My observation of the Oak Ridge/ Beech contest was that.....Beech played extremely well, in fact as I stated earlier was the dominate team. Those that talk about how many games a team has played in X days fail to realize all the teams played a minimum of 4 games this past weekend. For those that had to travel a long ways, and then out play their opponent are to be respected, and anyone that underestimates their performance are lacking somewhere in their thought process and observations. I agree with your assessment of the game!
  14. If you had heard some of the comments made by the coach, including early in the summer, i.e. " ______ is a bank player, that is why I won't cut her or any players" Maybe you could define that better for me? For the record my daughter plays competitive, so it has nothing to do with money for me, it has to do with having the right team chemistry, team strategy, team training to provide an opportunity to win. Also, when a coach tells the girls beofre a game, " Let's see how many parents we can make mad in this game" Will leave that up for your interpretation.
  15. Or maybe he is trying to keep all the girls on the team so he can make sure he gets all their money......If playing to win, and have knowledge of the game, it shouldn't take long. Many of his girls on the team play Club ball and aren't even playing the positions they play in club ball. I am sure he is more experienced that their club Coaches are.
  16. Powell had a PK and had 1 against them, neither scored, lol. one over the goal post one kicked right at keeper. But I will agree that there should have been somemore called, given seen several hand balls in the box. Also, my daughter had a girl knee her in the back when she was trying to head a cross on a corner kick, no call, I am sure that wasn't a foul! NOT
  17. After viewing the Katie Hunter Tournament----East Tenn Soccer Championship hopes are in Beardens hands. Even in their win Oak Ridge was average at best and was totally dominated in their loss, ant 2 ties. Farragut 2 losses, dominated by opposition, goal keeper did a good job of not making their games blowouts. And well let's see Powell can't score enough due to someone not knowing how to get a set line-up......guess he thinks it is still pre-season.
  18. On Overall 1. Bearden 2. Farragut 3. Oakridge 4. Maryville 5. Knox West 6. CAK 7. Webb 8. Sevier County 9. Catholic 10. Alcoa I am leaving my daughter's school off until they can consistently hit the goal, instead of just out shooting thier opposition.......out shooting in 3 games 61-14 is not going to win, finishing will!
  19. CAK is your Bearden then, looks like Webb got Catholic big last night, if my memory serves me correctly
  20. Good one Bean,.....even though it won't help us in the District, will be pulling for you against the World beaters,
  21. Until teams knock off Bearden and Farragut and Oak Ridge, it is a mute point. Last itme I checked they don't give Championship Trophies to anyone other than First Place. No reason to get up in arms about it, just let the girls show what they can do on the field, still a long season to go!
  22. Anyone know what the West vs Anderson County score was?
  23. So was you the Ref in the South Doyle game? Is this the underlying reason for your responses in this thread?
