  1. Ahh yes, I remember when Gaddis was an assistant at Farragut, came over with Coach Bland from Tullahoma I believe. Farragut ran the power I back then. One interesting player for Farragut this season is CB/WR #3 Kirkendall (sp?). In 2 games he has 4 ints, 1 PR TD, and 1 or 2 TDs receiving. Kid is playing lights out right now. One problem Farragut has shown is a bit of lack of discipline, against Gibbs last Friday they had multiple personal fouls and one player ejected. It hasn't hurt them so far, but in a game like this you just can't give away first downs. Farragut's defense has been very good, if not very tested. They've had a couple of busted coverages that have resulted in giving up big plays, but have been really solid against the run. Not sure they have an answer for Higgins though.
  2. Favorite game all year! The game is almost secondary to the Wildcat nation fighting it out against each other on Coacht.
  3. After reading the WB off-season thread I thought it interesting that Maryville youth football teams DON'T necessarily run Maryville high school schemes. I assumed one of the secrets of Maryville's success was that the kids were well versed in the system prior to getting to high school. Also, just curious, does any of the assistants, other than Gaylor, have head coaching experience?
  4. Pretty sure Farragut youth football was down overall numbers wise. They always had 2 teams in each age category, and this year some only had one team.
  5. I think Farragut's 2 combo games were Lenoir City and West.
  6. Kind of curious about other freshman programs. Farragut's freshmen went 6-2 but had to play 2 freshmen/jv combo games due to other programs claiming they didn't have enough players. Farragut only had about 20 freshmen this year. Does anyone else see freshman football deteriorating? Will freshmen football disappear all together?
  7. Here's to Quarles getting bored and taking an early retirement, only chance the rest of us on this side of the state have.
  8. STARS, I can see how it might appear that way, but I don't really see that as a possibility. First, his son has no coordinator experience. Second, his son is not a teacher. Third, while Farragut has been up and down lately its still a prime school to attract some applicants with impressive HC resumes. Jake, I stand corrected after re-reading your post. Reading is fundimental.
  9. Jake, that's ridiculous. Courtney will be the HC at Farragut as long as he wants to be. This is Knox Co schools here. As long as there are no issues with a coach's treatment of the kids, and the program is at least moderately successful, then the coach is set. If Sweetland had stayed at Farragut he would be doing the same thing next year that he'd done all the previous years. Farragut would have been better off for it.
  10. It was probably a step back on the coaching ladder, but a boost in pay. I think he felt Courtney was going to retire soon when he took the job due to some medical issues. When those issues resolved themselves and it became obvious Courtney was not retiring anytime soon, David looked elsewhere until he could find the right spot to be HC.
  11. Sweetland's offenses at Farragut always put up good numbers despite never quite having the qb to run it like Sweetland wanted. Farragut was, however blessed with a stable of good RB's during his tenure. With the exception of a few Maryville and Ooltewah games I never really felt out of it with him calling the plays
  12. Surely Sweetland feels a little bit stiffled under Rankin's run heavy offense. If Alcoa wins the title I would think Sweetland would be open to getting back in control of an offense rather than teaching the qb how to open up for a handoff 50 times a game.
  13. Pudding, SH got 2 personal fouls arguing a perceived pass interference call they didn't get. Not sure if both were on Carter or only one, but he was berating the sideline ref mercilessly. Not sure where the ref crew was from but they were very...officious? The game was played with a lot of "attitude" on both sides, with several personal fouls.
  14. Congratz to SH on a deserved win. For a while there I thought both teams might reach 100. Farragut had a mini meltdown right before halftime and never really recovered. I will say however after watching Coach Carter on the sidelines I now side with the DB band director
  15. I don't think Farragut sold out any home games this year. By the end of the season the stands were less than half full for William Blount. Even the Maryville game was less than full. Although Farragut is a transient community, its still a bit embarrassing.
  16. I heard the Farragut booster club canceled the bus they were going to rent due to lack of interest. I hope this means everyone is driving, and not that the Admirals will be left to fend for themselves.
  17. It'll be interesting to see how both teams play this week. SH after their biggest win in a long time, and Farragut returning to the playoffs after a year's absence. Farragut was on a 4 game win streak before facing Maryville in week 10. Farragut is battle tested after facing murderers row in the first 5 weeks.
  18. It seems looking at their schedule they faced some pretty stiff competition, yet beat who they were supposed to, and lost to who they were supposed to, putting up some impressive offensive stats along the way. McGue was injured at some point later in the season, is he fully 100%?
  19. To compare Farragut's game vs DB to SH's game vs DB isn't really fair. Farragut played DB week 0 and SH played DB week 10. All Farragut had to go on was a couple of scrimmage tapes whereas SH had a whole seasons worth of tape on DB. If I understand correctly SH has a very mobile qb which has given Farragut trouble in the past (last Friday particularly ). The fact that SH runs a spread should help Farragut's defense, as they won't be seeing something they haven't seen a lot. If Farragut's injury situation straightens itself out I like their chances.
  20. I don't think the travel will effect Farragut that much. Coach Courtney always has one or two long trips per year, so the players are used to it. Farragut is playing fairly well right now despite the meltdown against Maryville this past Friday. Hopefully our senior qb will be back next week and the injury to our #2 RB isn't serious. I don't know anything about Science Hill, and Farragut hasn't played them in a number of years. I'll be doing some homework to try and find out some things about them to see how the Admirals stack up against them.
  21. Maryville's electronic jamming device overloaded the Farragut scoreboard!
  22. STARS, if only the outside world knew that you were at the heart of Maryville's success you'd be in such high demand you could write your own ticket.
  23. Interesting match up will be Dylan Jackson against his old teammates, as Dylan played his youth ball at Farragut before being recrui.....I mean transfering to Maryville.
  24. Any word on the injured player?
  25. Chippie is a polite way to put it. This FHS freshman team has been combative all season.
