McKinley Berry of Elizabethton deserves some statewide recognition. tonight he pitched another great game, this time against DB. Unfortunately Elizabethton is underachieving this year but he has been a bright spot. tonight he stayed in the 80's for 6 innings according to DB's clock. With some proper coaching i think 90 is definitly possible either this summer or by junior year.

a Cyclone fan wanting to step in and say GO RANGERS. great bunch of kids and will be wishing the best for them. great to hear good things from the TNC guys.

what is better as far the line is concerned? one is just getting cleared to practice and another big guy isn't playing with dexter price and coggins graduated it seems they will be more suspect.

this should be a great year for elizabethton. it will be the coaches 3rd year so being new is no longer an excuse. the senior class is a proven group since they were in elementary school. they have nothing to prove at this point. it will be interesting to see how things work out.

i played soccer years ago before it was a tssaa sport. fights happened. it seems there were many at fault in this situation. the kids shouldn't take the rules into their own hands but if the refs don't then i respect the kids that will stand up to defend themself. i find it rediculous that the tssaa says that in a fight the refs should stay out of it. by this being their on the field stance it seems that they should not be involved after the game as well. in this case Elizabethton did suspend their players and i am sure CD spoke with their players as well. as a Cyclone fan i am very biased. Elizabethton played CD in baseball a few days after the soccer game. no problems on or off the field. i feel sure there will be no problems the next time they meet on the soccer field as well. i feel the tssaa should either take action during a game or not at all. to take them out of post season play is way overboard. to fine is laughable. GO Cyclones and good luck CD. maybe if the tssaa and others let this issue end, then it will. i would say those involved are already over it and lesson learned.

happy valley has a few that can hit as well. should be a good game.

unicoi county is playing good baseball but i wouldn't put them in a league of their own. they played well against elizabethton but weren't dominating. one inning with the bases loaded and two outs they got a big hit. a couple innings later the same situation with eliz having the bases loaded and 2 outs. eliz. didn't get the hit. thats baseball. but if it went the other way it could have been a diffrent game. happy valley also played eliz very tough and i think they can play with unicoi. tournament time will be interesting. how is the johnson county field looking? does it drain very well?

i think the warriors could contend this year. it is still very early to be making predictions based on much more than the past. the warriors have good athletes. i haven't been to any of their scrimmages or practices this season. wish them well. this season should be fun. GO CYCLONES

how did the scrimmages go?

Whitson as mentioned will be good from UC. Hodge and Mann from Happy valley can both play big. Eliz. has a few. don't know the greeneville teams well.

i agree UC and Eliz. being 1 & 2. at least until someone changes that.

i think the conferance may end up closer than in the past. Happy Valley has some good athletes playing this year. it will be a good season. go cyclones

congrats greenville on a good win. your offensive line deserves the credit on this. it seemed the right side controlled the line throughout the game.

i was impressed by phipps when j.c. played elizabethton. best in the conference i'm not sure. this game could go either way. neither team should be confident of a win going in to this game. cyclone fan checking in to say GO NORTH! also, shrleys appeared to be open last week when i passed by.

not knowing more details on this incident it seems the coach deserved what he got. i find it interesting that when we are talking about adult high school football coaches and how they discipline teenage players. i would be embarassed if i was so out of control of the situaton that i would need to raise my voice to force the respect of a kid. respect must be earned by the coaches. some kids will be harder to get through to than others. the best coaches always find a way to get through in a more mature fashion. i remember a coach from high school. never saw or heard him raise his voice. we always gave our best for him. if you can't control your emotions you can't control a game. i agree with what someone said earlier, bench the kid till he decides to be part of the team.

great game vikings, had complete control the entire game. the touchdown pass your qb threw was great. very well executed. as far as the cyclones the kids played with heart. one series though it was 2nd and 22 and betsy runs a qb run play. then the next play, (3rd and 22) it was a screen. from what i've seen this year the screens haven't been one of their better plays. end result 4th and 22 and a punting situation. great play calling.

congrats to north for a great game. very well played. from what i saw elizabethton tried some new things defensively. i guess at this point its safe to say they didn't work. coach witten is a young coach and i guess there will be some growing pains. the same team that played so good against science hill and db was there but the game plan wasn't. defense spent way too much time on the field. hats off to north. maybe we'll see you again.

this could be a close one. i'm hoping for betsy to win. elizabethton is having a much better year than last but still has some young players. i believe it was a few years back either jv or freshman teams from east and eliz had a very hard fught game at east. betsy came out with the overtime win. this game i think will be the same type. same kids playing just a bit more mature. i'm hoping eliz isn't headed for a letdown. good luck to both schools, GO CYCLONES

DB played a good game and my hat is tipped to the coach and players for not running the score up at the end. i'll pull for DB to do well the rest of the season. as a cyclone fan i hate to admit the game wasn't as close as the score may have let on imo. DB didn't punt the entire game. this worries me. they do have excellant athletes in sensabaugh, crawford and adams, but no punts at all. the DB line should get some credit in this. they seemed to dominate the interior line. they say good definses cause offensive miscues and that will be a positive the cyclones can take away but at the same time there is plenty of room to improve. great game for both teams.
