Sequatchie Valley 2009 Living Legends
TheTruthPrevails replied to TheLivingLegend's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
I think that has always been the thing with Corpio. I think it is hard for him to put on a ton of weight. I see him running almost daily so that will make it equally hard to pack the pounds. He is not very fast but he is probably one of the quickest players in the valley. The only thing being that he is easy to bring down because he isn't very physical, but he is very talented and tough. So what are the numbers for the grundy player?? -
They might just do it, but don't expect folks to lay down and give em the championship like some we know did last year /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Sorry OP, but that doesn't change the score.........fact is Marion was tougher and grittier that night and scraped for everything they got. Offense wasn't clicking that night, but they found a way to force turnovers and got stops when they had to and played a totally different ballgame the next week in knoxville against a team that clearly outmatched them. I don't care if Sp gains 1000 yards of offense and we have one first down, as long as the scoreboard is in our favor at the end of the game. You are starting to sound like those Seq boys that think since they have more hits in a baseball game that it is as good as winning. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> As far as I can recall, I don't think yall have scored 50 on us in the last few meetings...............I think that is half a hundred isn't it?? What kind of math do they teach in that hole down there? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I am afraid you boys from the mountain have way more problems up there than will be fixed if KC leaves /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> -
I have no idea, really. If they are I would guess they would be a bunch of youngons, cause the rest will be getting ready for football.

The most talent of the surrounding teams hardly equals most talent on the state level OP, you know that. Traditional state powers Goodpasture and USJ were way more talented than we were, this Marion bunch was a scrappy team, unlike the Pirate football team, which was far and away more talented than anyone in 1A, and usually always is. -
Yeah, that QB that played against us at Marion gave us fits and is a good qb, whether he can throw or not. He would be a heck of a option quarterback in the veer /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

The reason that I said this in the first place is because several Alcoa fans said it after we played last year. I wasn't making it up.

[quote name='OLD PIRATE' date='May 31 2009 - 11:11 PM' post='827108646 Old Pirate says living legend status will be a rarity this year round the valley. The best players could be Jasper's N. Wells, SP's T. Robinson and M. Jones, with J. Fennel a strong contender. The rest of the valley not yet visuable. OP says the coaching staffs will be the top topic. Nick wells, corpio brock should both be in the running. Robinson is a very very elusive QB and Malcom jones is a very dynamic and fast reciever. I was wondering if the pirates will move him to running back, or will he stay out at reciever?? -

What kind of selective memory are you talking about?? At the end of the year, the warriors were the second best team in 2A, no doubt about it. Just ask the good folks at Alcoa who the best 2A team was that they played, I am sure they will tell you the truth. -

Marion hasn't underachieved on the diamond, they didn't have, without a doubt, the most talent on the field hands down like the pirates do on the football field. Everyone doesn't claim to be world beaters in baseball, like the pirate fans do......................sorry. -

TheTruthPrevails replied to Bill#49's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Thats exactly my point!! I know that Sellers and Hale have shown great promise, but I think that nick wells is a senior and it is his time to shine, and last year at times he was the best on the field for the warriors. I just think that Those two youngons from Sp will be great, but they are a year away from total dominance. As I was throwing around that softball yesterday, I saw several of the boys running for nearly half the day. I cant wait till august.............. -

TheTruthPrevails replied to Bill#49's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
I think that most of us at Marion have reasonable expectations. We don't think for a second that with the addition of ken that it automatically makes us state title favorites. Coach Boeck did what no other coach could have done with the Warriors last year, as we ended up the second best team in 2A after a rough start, and Ken will only help the cause. I am pretty sure that we have a few more than 12 players that can play, although it doesn't compare to the twelve division 1 signees that the pirates turn out every year. I will tell you what, why don't you worry about the pirates underachieving almost yearly, and we will worry about us having high expectations.......... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> . Two things are certain this year in week three though when these two schools meet, Nick Wells will be the best running back on the field that night, and win or lose, this will be the best chance that the Warriors have had in the last few years. Reguardless of what you pirate supporters want to think, brighter days are on the horizon for the purple clad warriors. There will be a couple of down years after this one probably, but the future definitely looks bright. -
Good luck with the new hire!!! Hopefully the new coach will continue the rebuilding job that coach Roberson started.

Trousdale and South Pitt spring scrimmage
TheTruthPrevails replied to THE KING LEON's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Doesn't matter what the school size is maam. Sp hands down has more athletes than anyone in the area, maybe except for tyner, and in that respect, Marion county has NEVER been able to compete, even in the mid nineties. -

Yall have no room to talk about school size................come on now. SP turns out more athletes than 4A schools and with that kind of pipeline, it doesn't matter the size of the school................you know, size don't matter....... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> -

You can bank on it that MC will show up to play Trousdale, just like they did against alcoa. They will be no tougher and Marion was in that game for 3 and 1/2 quarters. The cream eventually rises to the top and they were the better team and pulled away late. I can also promise that we wont have anyone lay down and give up if we play them also. They will know they are in a fight, just as well as we will. More than likely though, Boyd will be up first in the playoffs, depending on how the brackets work themselves out. As for the pirates, yall shouldn't have any trouble winning the state over and over since mr. south pitt, Ronnie Carter keeps making it easier on you guys and moving everyone out. With all the athletes yall have, it should just be a breeze. How many teams have won the state in the last 15 yrs in 1a?? Talking about playing up................Central is improved but they haven't been good in 20+ yrs and no one else is impressive on your schedule either, yall had a chance to play trousdale and tyner as well. Neither of us have any room to talk about scheduling, really. -
Calm down there old poot....................get a brush and comb those ruffled feathers down. Old Pirate is getting his cage rattled..... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ...............that sounds good!!! I agree with both of you, SP did terribly need a gymnasium, and what a sparkling one they have!! All the folks at SP and the county should be proud of that gym, I am just thinking that it didn't exactly mesh well with the old school like BigJ said. The vocational buildings are great for the students, and I am all for anything the school system can get for the Marion County school system, whether that is the north or south end of the county. Don't be belly aching over something that happened a long time ago with the schools, I think that the schoolboard is more than fair with the system now, and that is all that matters. Like BigJ said, every community has fundraisers for the extras that they get.............MC's baseball field was Sodded with grass in the infield in the summer of 93, via private funding. The locker room and all the fixing up that has been done has been donations and fundraisers on the part of coach Roberts and the community, same with the softball upgrades. You also talk about lodge donating land and woe is me and schoolboard not helping and blah blah blah............look at where the school is located..........There isn't a ton of land around the area to put a baseball field, so of course the lodge would have to donate the land...................

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...............so last year everyone was bragging about beating tc 9 touchdowns to 2, and this year you tie??????????? very interesting -
Your right, there is no comparison to MCHS with either county school. How could you even hint that SP's school is in better shape than MC?? Have you been to MC to walk the halls lately?? As far as Gyms go, that is another story.................but we did get a new floor this spring, but it isn't 50 million like yalls sparkling gym.
-
That last paragraph is an ignorant statement by you old pirate. In no way have I ever talked about any less fourtunate than me and anyone that knows me knows better than that. It is people like you that get on here and talk trash and I was simply saying that Sp produces all the athletes and I never said anything like what you just said. Truth is, Marion County high school should never beat the pirates with all the athletes they turn out and it doesn't matter the size of the school. If your school was made up of people like you and some that get on here and talk trash, yall would be whitwell south. You and others should be extremely proud of the athletes you turn out. One more question, What does your town have that makes Sp so special??????????
-
but they did get a 100 million dollar gym for those 200 kids. Hey PG, why don't we tear our gym down so the schoolboard has to build us a new one???? Think that will work for us?? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
-
That is exactly what I said not to long ago.............I have a world of faith in Coach Boeck, look at what he has done to the program in a year. Hard work definitely pays off. Like Bill said, this is Boeck's team and if he feels like Ken can teach him some things and help out and both sides are willing to do that, then we are all for it. Don't put words in my mouth. We haven't even got the luxury of having an athlete factory like some schools in the area, /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
-
I am still missing the point...........Seems like the Grundy folk have been trying to get rid of KC since he drove up the mountain the first time. Wouldn't this make those same people happy?? This is a way to get rid of him finally if he is indeed helping MC. Why such a fuss??? I will tell you this though, this was a case of small town politics not allowing KC to turn grundys program around. Rest assured though, come fall if KC is on the sidelines at MC where he belongs and helping coach Boeck, and if possible, that 72-0 that happened almost 20 yrs ago will pale in comparison to what is coming!!!!

Last years QB was a first year starter also. Corpio and Trey both had experience running the offense last year. More than likely if Trey hadn't gotten hurt he would have been the starter last year.
