  1. Except for a few people on here, you guys just sound ugly.
  2. I don't know if this sheds any light, but some people have said there was a fight amongst the OR players on the way to the game and someone got hurt. Then the team didn't play as well as expected. Coach Stevens probably wasn't having the best of nights up until that point when the kids came on the field. Not making excuses, just wondering.
  3. I was just thinking the same thing this morning. They(OR) have set a precedent with her, how could they overlook this situation, if it is true.
  4. I would think the administrator that gave permission would bear some responsibility in all this. Why on earth would you let Clinton fans on the field?
  5. Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound that way. What I meant was that he may not have been aware that they had permission and thought they were going to cause trouble. I am not saying that would justify pushing the kids or coach, but we haven't yet heard his side.
  6. It sounds like Clinton felt this was a victory because they were in the lead for awhile and they played a good game without it being a blowout as in previous years. Also, someone gave the kids permission to go on the field. So, you can hardly blame the kids if they had permission. This was obviously not cleared with Coach Stevens. I'm not sure what he was reacting to. I'm surprised by now, the full story hasn't surfaced.
  7. Apparently, you didn't read my quote. Go back and read it. I didn't say that coach did that. Coaches are often influenced by other things other than skill. And, some coaches aren't even capable of assessing skill. Not all coaches are perfect, that's my point. And since we don't know any details, there is no way to know what happened.
  8. I couldn't venture a guess. Football coaching is a tough job. If you have a couple of down years, you are always looking over your shoulder. I also wonder how much control the AD has in coaching decisions. As in, hiring/promoting/firing assistant coaches. They have a pretty strong team for the next couple of years. We'll see.
  9. How the Clinton coaches address their team would seem to be an internal Clinton issue. I will say there is alot of cussing all around in football. It really doesn't set the kind of example that you would want to set. No one would probably fault the occasional slip, but when it's a steady diet, then it's wrong. What I was wondering was, who gave the Clinton kids permission to go on the field. If it was an OR person then they didn't do anything wrong by going. Tank saw a security guard or policeman taking them toward the field. Was it an OR person leading them?
  10. Without knowing the circumstances, we really can't judge. But, there are alot of coaches who are jerks too and play the kids whose parent's are kings and queens of the booster club.
  11. Golfendude, Nice to have you back. Good luck to your son if they are playing tonight.
  12. I guess what the dad was saying was that the kids were under extreme pressure and some kids may handle that better than others. De La Salle, I believe has the longest streak in history if I'm not mistaken at something like 149 games. The NC team didn't even have to play the Ohio team. In retrospect, probably a bad decision to go looking for extra games.
  13. This should be a good game. That's the thing with having a long winning streak, like Maryville. Every team wants to be the team that breaks it. And as that N. Carolina team with 110 wins straight in 7 years found out, when they recently lost in Ohio, they also lost their national ranking. They were ranked # 3 until the loss. The other thing about a long winning streak is sometimes that the kids are more worried about the steak than anything else. One of the NC dads said he was glad the streak was finally over so his kid could just have fun playing ball. Hope you have a great game, injury free. Good luck to both teams.
  14. Bo Bop Zit: I will handle this one for you. MHS, you probably weren't aware that BEBOPZIT has created this thread ONLY to talk about the game. Not, that pesky incident in Ridgeland. Okay! So let's talk about the game. HMM, You think it will rain.....
  15. Uh, when you started this thread those 2 kids were healthy. That's not the case now. WB doesn't have to worry about the stands, the troublemakers will be on the field playing...
  16. Your definition of a winner must differ greatly from mine...
  17. You don't get it and you never will. You are part of the problem. You make your community look bad. Stop talking to me. I am done with you... And I want you to know, I have not insulted you as you have done me. In a previous post you referred to me as an idiot, etc. You show no respect. You set a bad example. I am entitled to my opinion and many others agree with me.
  18. Boy, you really do make a fine line distinction. The kids who were there taunting are just fine , nothing needs to be done. You don't think that they were a contributing factor to all of this? I don't believe that for a second. All of them were there to start trouble, period. The ones that actually hit those kids should be prosecuted for assault and battery and hopefully their parents will have a civil suit against their parents and/or the Ootlewah school system. They"ALL" should be made to apologize!! They "ALL" should be punished!! I am not saying throw them off the team, but someone needs to care enough about these kids to show them right from wrong and I believe they should be sitting out at least one game and probably two. They need to sit their arrssess down in front of their school on the bench and think about what they did. This sets an example for the whole school and tells everyone else that Ootlewah will not tolerate this behavior. This shows that you care more about these boys then you do winning a football game. In response to the question of whether I hate Ootlewah. I had no bad opinion of Ootlewah until now. I just knew that they had a pretty good football team, that's it.
  19. Are the kids at that fight playing Friday night???? Have all of them been marched over to those kids to apologize??????? Let that answer your question. You have not taken care of it. Stop dodging..
  20. Well said!! Some of the folks here on this board think the only thing important in life is football. While I know others from Ootlewah see things correctly. Whether you like it or not, the kids that play for your team and go to your school that do stuff like this, they do represent your community. They are part of your community. And let me tell you, if it were my kid, forget what the coach would do. Why do we wait to see what the coach will do. It's the parents job to raise the kids. My kid would be over at those kids house apologizing and be grounded for a very long time and trust me, he wouldn't be playing football on Friday night. He'd be on the bench thinking about his mistake. We as a football community should expect better behavior than this. I would have alot of security at the game this week. It's too bad it has to come to that. But, judging from some of the parents on here, who think those kids did nothing wrong, you see where it comes from. I personally will not think well of Ootlewah because of how this was handled. That's just how it is. You had a chance to show what you are about as a team, school, etc. and football took priority over character. This is how the "Michael Vick's" of the world get created. And "Red4Life", don't bother coming here and telling us to talk only "football". This topic keeps popping up and it isn't just me. If you handle the problem, it goes away. If you don't, it festers...
  21. I am not trying to be mean here, but until you address the controversy it will never go away. You'll still be hearing about it for years to come. Put the broom away and make these kids accept responsibility for what they did. Whatever part they had in it, whether it be the actual assault or the verbal taunting which led to the assault.
  22. This is why you have kids that behave this way. This attitude. WB, I really hope you win this one, these kids need to learn some manners and apparently they won't get it from their schools or homes. Good Luck
  23. Actually, I was being tongue in cheek in response to the poster above me who was wanting to sweep everything under the rug. But, truly, actions speak much louder than your words. You need to address the problem at hand and not pretend that it didin't happen. If the people of Ootlewah are so good, they should take care of their problem players and teach them right from wrong.
  24. Right, Ootlewah 35, William Blount 35. The tiebreaker could be whoever beats up the most girls wins. Ootlewah, in a landslide...
