  1. In district 2, AAA... Morristown West boys and girls basketball can be heard on www.wmtnradio.com Morristown East boys and girls on www.wcrk.com Cherokee High School boys and girls on www.wrgsradio.com Cocke County boys and girls on www.wlik.net
  2. IMAC results for Friday (Dec. 4).... Cocke County 70, South Doyle 52 Morristown East 50, Seymour 45 Sevier County 37, Cherokee 24 Those scores should be posted on the scoreboard, but the Cocke County/South Doyle game has not been added to the scoreboard schedule....
  3. Not sure if it is a big deal...or even how to change it...but the score is wrong on the coacht scoreboard. Betsy beat Sevier County 50-45, not 55-50. West beat Grainger 76-36. Morristown East handled North Greene 67-50...not sure who they get next. And Cocke County lost in OT to Dobyns-Bennett 57-55 in the HoopsFeast tournament. Does anyone have a Knox Halls/Seymour score?
  4. Do you remember what the scores were in those two games?
  5. Jeff County boys beat Chuckey-Doak yesterday 91-36 in a HOF game at Greeneville. I think they played Greeneville, too, but I do not know of a score. Patriots have looked impressive in their HOF games. Two wins by near 40-50 points.
  6. Sevier County defeated South Greene in their first HOF game 71-66 in OT. West boys also won in OT 86-82 at Campbell County. Anyone have a report on South Doyle, Jeff County and Seymour??
  7. The way I understand it now...There are 4-5 teams ahead of Jefferson County for the final wildcard spot. Ravenwood, Smyrna, Millington, Lebanon, and maybe another. JC is neck-and-neck with Heritage High School for the final WC spot.
  8. You will have to pardon me for being out of the loop..just curious as to why Science Hill is moving away from Memorial Stadium? Are they constructing a new venue on the SHHS campus or tearing down/rebuilding Memorial? I had a chance to broadcast a game at Memorial last year. It was a great venue to watch a HS game from. Lot of history and mystique feel to the venue, just like seeing a game at Neyland or Notre Dame Stadium... Good luck to both teams this weekend. Wish I could attend this classic rivalry.
  9. I will be there and I am picking Heritage Mountain Ears by a hair. I expect a battle though and this game could go either way. Question....if Heritage wins will they ride down the goal posts and if so will they have enough fans there to ride it down? No need to worry about that. Govs win! Toll the Victory Bell!!!
  10. I was not including East High in that 11-3 record. That is Morristown West solely. The Trojans have not met Sevier County since 1992. That's why you don't see Morristown West on yours. And I am not living off those, just using them to make a point. Which is, just because they have not met in 17 years, I think you will find from West High's record the last few years that they are no push over. That is the only point I was trying to make. SCBear, I understand where you are coming from. No, the IMAC is not a murderer's row, but the competition among the top 5 is what I was referring to. Every conference is going to have the "Wyomings" as you put it...except district 4. Still, this should be a very fun, wide-open conference. I also understand that Sevier has to go through the likes of DB, OR, Maryville, etc. But Morristown West has to prepare to meet up against TN High, Sullivan South, Catholic, Clinton, etc....They may be smaller schools, but they still pack a lot of punch! Sorry for taking over this thread... Good luck to all! P.S. - I am a graduate of good ole WB. GO GOVS!!
  11. Naw tpoole12, just waiting for a Gov's fan to start a thread on what has become a very enjoyable season opening rivalry. Must have missed this thread last week while perusing CoachT. Anyway, as FSU has already pointed out this team has not scrimmaged outside of the McCallie camp so few have seen them in pads (including me). Therefor, the only information I can give you is based off of last years performances. What I do know is that we lost our best LB (Feezel), DLineman (Sutton) and most importantly our best all around play in Patrick Miller. From his WR position he led the team in Receiving Yards, TD's and as a CB led the team (and league) in Interceptions. To top it off he was a very solid place kicker. Probably one the best all around players SC has had since Cory Watson and Shane Kelly. Last years team, while improved from the awful '07 team, was noticably weak in its Line Play. Even with Miller stretching the field we could not sustain any sort of run blocking. The D Line wasn't much better as we were consistently inconsistent stopping the other team's ground game. Science Hill, Campbell County and Bearden were especially cringe inducing efforts. Don't know what the problem was because individualy they looked alot better then the sum of their parts reflected in their performance. Maybe some of this has been corrected as some of the good news coming out of the McCallie camp was that coach Brewer specifically pointed out the O Line's impressive run and pass blocking. Time will tell. On offense QB Zach Flynn returns and should improve on a very good season last year. He is not going to outrun too many people but he has a very good arm and a good presence in the pocket. Jr. Dakota Cogdill will be the featured TB. He will not be as fast as the graduated Tyler Thomas but he will provide a tougher, more aggressive running style who will not go down easy (rushed for about 180 yards against Karns). He will also be a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. Look also for the smaller, quicker Kel McCarter to give a nice change of pace. Already pointed out the loss of Miller but most of the WR corp returns intact so what they lack in big play potientel (and size) should be offset some in experience and numbers (for what it's worth they performed well in Dobyn-Bennets passing league without starting QB Flynn participating). I know I am forgetting some names but I believe that Matt Spangler is probably the best of this bunch. The one wildcard of the skill positions will be backup QB Danny Chastain. He is a good athlete who would come in and run the option some last year when a running threat was needed but he is also a fine wide receiver and has the potential to be our main playmaker as he will be utilized at different positions. The O line "appears" to be improved led by returning starters Zach Peppers and Ross "Hog" Heatherly. This is the biggest question mark of the offense cause if they perform like last years unit did then we will struggle moving the chains consistently again......plain and simple. Defensively this group needs to be more consistent also. For whatever reason (chemistry, speed, quickness, formation?) last season the defense was up and down. One half they looked solid then the next half they were like a sieve. Too be honest, I don't know as much about the personnel on this side of the ball (especially the D Line) as graduation hit harder on this side of the ball but I can't believe that they will perform any worse. Special teams is anyone's guess right now. Just hoping it will not be a repeat of the nightmare game like it was in WB's '06 win. The main cause for optimism is that the core of this years team should be made up from their very good '07 Freshmen class who saw some action as Sophmores last year. Does their pedigree translate into more W's? That is the $6,000,000, question right now. By the way, did I ever say how much I hate this new realignment fiasco? I would much rather be in the Gov's region a hundred fold. Play the big boys and find out what you got. Being "strong armed" into playing smaller, non-competitive schools is a sham. Well, we certainly hope the non-competitive schools like Morristown East, Morristown West (who owns an 11-3 record against Sevier), Jefferson County, and Seymour (who won 13-7 over the Bears last season) won't cause a lot of trouble for Sevier County. I realize the IMAC is not a murderer's row like District 4, but come on? Non-competitive? Sheesh...
  12. Morristown West High School can be heard on AM 1300 WMTN. They can also be found at.. www.wmtnradio.com Morristown East High School football will be carried by AM 1150 WCRK. Hurricanes football can also be heard at.... www.wcrk.com
  13. I was told Morristown West won 3-1, which equates to 17-7...2 TDs and FG for West. I understand the Trojans missed one FG and blocked a punt to setup a drive at the 6, but chose to move it to the 31 so they would not waste a drive. Catholic did have one nice 80 yard TD run on a busted play by the West defense. Both teams should be strong this year.
  14. Morristown West football, boys and girls basketball and baseball can all be found on AM 1300 WMTN or by going to www.wmtnradio.com!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  15. Congratulations to Coach Galyon and his squad. I believe that is the first time a school from Morristown has been ranked number 1 in basketball. At least as far back as I can remember. Certainly been a great season for the Lady Trojans. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  16. Raiderray, Thanks for the suggestion. Constructive criticism is always welcome. I do try my best to recap the night's action at the end of each broadcast. Especially this year with the Lady Trojans having such a great year. So, I know that's one score that usually people are interested in. I look forward to the trip to Dandridge on Friday night. I live in that..well, I guess its a city. Haha. I love that area, though. Always nice and quiet, and the school is about 5-10 minutes from the house. You should stop by the broadcast booth sometime before the varsity games get started. As for the station, you can hear Morristown West games (both VG and VB) on AM 1300 WMTN or at www.wmtnradio.com. We are truly the "Voice of Trojan Athletics." The other station only carries the 10 district games, while WMTN is there for all home non-conference games, including senior night against Sullivan South on Feb. 10. We were also the exclusive Morristown provider of the Lady Trojans' games in the Greene Bank Ladies Classic. We will be there as the teams look for berths in the state tournament. Hope you join us and enjoy the product!
  17. Saturday IMAC scores: Morristown West 52 Sullivan East 30 Morristown East 48 Hancock County 35 Cherokee 44 Volunteer 49 The Coacht.com scoreboard is wrong on the Cherokee game.
  18. Thanks for the support. Its always good to hear from fellow broadcasters...except under these circumstances. Haha.
  19. Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just wish this guy could have done it without the name calling. Its just amazing how brave people are when they can post on a board somewhere and not have to give their real name. I would be more than happy to talk to the person face-to-face at a ballgame. Even let him sit in on a broadcast with me.
  20. You know...I normally keep my mouth shut about a lot of the trash talking and "personal opinions" that are posted on here, let it roll off one side and down the other. You guys have said a lot of correct things: 1) Curt Phillips is an outstanding QB, and I cannot fathom a reason why no SEC teams or the like looked at this kid. 2) South whooped West up and down the field, no doubt. 3) the officiating was very suspect on BOTH sides, and the personal fouls were uncalled for. HOWEVER, to disrespect a great man and head coach in Don Woods is down right shameful and idiotic. In all the history of West football, they had THREE playoff appearances before his arrival in 1997. Since then he has only enhanced the football program, heck the entire athletics program at Morristown West. The man has won 10 Five Rivers championships in the 11 seasons he has been there. He has graduated countless young men who have gone on to be outstanding citizens. The 2007 Trojans had 90% of their guys on the honor roll. The graduating senior class had over 30 victories for their entire careers. Don Woods is a very kind, caring Christian person who only enhances the quality of life around him, and loves the game of football. And to question his decision-making and play-calling is unthinkable. Last I checked...he beat South three times very handily before this past Friday. All the credit to Sullivan South. Great team you guys have. As a graduate of William Blount...I hope you guys defeat Greeneville because of Maryville gets by Red Bank, you are the last hope to knock of the Red Rebels of Maryville. Good luck to South the rest of the way.
  21. Hey JCHS folks, How long has Coach Atwood been the head man at JC and what's his overall record at the school?
  22. It is official: David Crawford has resigned at Cocke County after two seasons as the head coach. Both sides indicated it was a mutual parting, and believed it just was not a good fit. Good luck to a great guy in Coach Crawford in his future endeavors.
  23. Talk about being fresh...Trojans dressed 102 players for their game against Cocke County. With a 30-0 halftime advantage over the Fighting Cocks, several younger players, including a handful of freshmen, all got to see plenty of playing time. Should be a good, exciting game Friday night. Who covers Longhorns football on the radio? Is it WMCT? Let me know Horn fans! Thanks.
  24. Hearing there may be some changes at Cocke County High. Maybe as early as this Monday. Right now, take that only as a rumor.
  25. Hey guys, Sorry, I was not at the game Friday night, but I am concerned as a William Blount alumnus. What exactly did the sign say that the team ran through? Not trying to condone the action by any means, or start an argument. I am just being curious as to what it said.
