  1. This will be a barn-burner! Two great teams that should go deep into the playoffs. I will give the edge to Huntingdon simply b/c their schedule has been tougher so far. They beat Westview and nearly beat Milan and everyone knows how good Milan is. I say Huntingdon by no more than 10, probably 7.
  2. Why did you think my post was so funny logger? I know about TC, SP, and JB and they are all great teams as well. I respect them, but I also get tired of the disrespect West TN gets on here. We have some good football too.
  3. UC should do very well in 1A. Never understood how a town that size(around 10,000) has so few students in the last few years. Wasn't meaning that as a slight, was really wondering. I feel they could(and have in the past) compete very well at a higher classification. Anyway, this week should be a good one between UC and Huntingdon. These two might be the best in 1A in West Tn and both have a shot to do very well in the playoffs. One of them most probably will represent West Tn in Cookeville IMO. Would be a great game to watch! I have no idea who I think will win at this point. Good luck to both teams.
  4. Wheeler can't be worse than Beubein! At least they hit in practice now! Please be patient Charger fans. Rome wasn't built in a day. They will be back, it will just take time. BTW, Covington does play Ripley in Covington on the 18th for homecoming. Just keep working hard and success will come. It may not totally turn around this year, but it will in time. BTW, Dyersburg has a good team and a good coach, so it's not a disgrace to lose to them, just don't like to lose by not playing well and from what I am hearing, the Chargers shot themselves in the foot too many times. Keep working. Good luck against Brighton next week.
  5. I know this was a post about SH and Perry Co, but no one seemed to post about the Middleton game. Congratulations to the Lions on their first official varsity win! C'mon Lions fans! Where are you? You should be excited about this one! Bruceton next week. They have a good shot at another win, but don't take anything forgranted. Anybody can beat anybody else on any given day. Good luck to the Lions!
  6. Boy was I wrong! I wasn't at the game, but the score indicates that Adamsville pretty much had their way with Riverside. I just figured the Panthers would be fired up after last week, but go figure. They seem like Jekyl and Hyde or a box of chocolates-you never know what you're gonna get, lol. Anyway, Coach Gray does a good job at Adamsville and they should now have inside track to a playoff spot in that district. They will probably win the district if they can beat TCA IMO. Good luck to them.
  7. Congratulations to the Vikings. Great game. Tale of two halves. Humboldt up 28-0 at half, but LC dominated the second half. It looked like either LC had some kids out in the first half or Coach Snow just somehow lit a fire under them. They were awesome in the the 2nd half and Humboldt looked like they tried to lay down at one point, but they held on. The Robinson kid(#6 think that's his name) is a player for LC! I resepectfully disagree with the person who said Humboldt's backs didn't play well. The sign of a good back is to find the hole even if it is not where it is supposed to be and they did that the majority of the time. The Campbell kid is great(seen him play before), but they do have other backs that can play. The QB(#7) is also a good athlete. Feel like both teams will have success in that district and have a good shot at the playoffs IMO. Should be a good season for both teams.
  8. Congratulations to the War Eagles! Great start to the season.
  9. Lexington has the potential to be good this year, but they have a LOT of injuries. Many starters out. They will be good when they get healthy, but that may not happen for a few weeks. Good luck to the Tigers this week.
  10. I think this will be an excellent ball game and the outcome will determine who makes the playoffs in that district. Riverside looked terrible in the jamboree, but they played very well against Lexington and honestly probably should have won the game. Adamsville beat Bolivar in the Chester Co jamboree and will do well in that district also. If Riverside plays the way they played last week, they will win. If not, Adamsville will win. Depends on which Riverside shows up. I believe they will be motivated by the Lexington game and I give it to Riverside in a close game.
  11. I have not seen WC, but I have heard they were a lot better. I did see Gleason at the Lexington jamboree and they looked better than anybody there other than Crockett County. They have two good backs with some speed. They run the double-wing very well. I think it will be a good game. I'm going to give it to Gleason by a TD. Good luck to WC. Hope your season goes well.
  12. Lexington has several freshman who will do well. The Williams kid at QB is a special athlete, but they have several more that dress with the varsity and may have a chance to start next year as sophmores if they get stronger and develop as they should.
  13. While I agree that Humboldt is probably the better team, give Coach Snow a break as far as scheduling goes. He may not have even made the schedule b/c sometimes the games are scheduled in the spring and he may not have even gotten there yet.
  14. I do agree with Zebra that UC and Jo Byrns will be in hunt as well. Some great football in 1A this year.
  15. I was at this one and it was very exciting! 3 OTs! Riverside looked a LOT better than in the jamboree. If they play like they did last night(even though they lost), they will be very competitive in their district. Right now, it looks like it will be close between them, Adamsville, and TCA. Lexington made a lot of mistakes and have a lot of injuries. They will definitely get better when they get healthy. They have hard working boys and a good coaching staff. Good luck to the Tigers.
  16. Two great teams. It would not surprise me to see both of them in Cookville. Milan in 3A and Huntingdon in 1A. Good luck to both teams.
  17. I think Dyersburg is the better team at this point from what little I know about em, but Charger fans be patient. I wasn't there last night b/c I moved away from the area, but I know that the kids that are juniors have potential, the sophmore class is good and the freshman class is very good based on what they all did in middle school. I know you can't always rely on that, but it is something to go by. I feel like Covington will be on the rise in the next few years. Hang in there, keep working and success will come. Trojan fans, I know Coach Stowe and he is a good one, just give him time. Good luck to both teams. I have friends on both coaching staffs and hope for success for both programs.
  18. Hang in there Lions. I heard that you should have won at Halls and you were tied at one point last night. Just keep working and the wins will come.
  19. Milan is going to be Milan, but Alcoa dominated Maryville last night according to what I have seen and heard, so that will be a tough mountain to climb. With Huntingdon playing in 1A, they have a shot to go a long way this year. The question is do Trousdale and South Pitt play in A or AA? If the Mustangs can avoid them, they have a legit shot.
  20. Congratulations to Dresden on their season so far. It looks like they have improved and not having to play Milan, Westview, etc every week has to help too. Everyone knows McKenzie is legit, so if Dresden can hang with them, then they will continue to impress folks. Good luck.
  21. Congratulations to Coach Snow and Lake Co. Should be an exciting ball game next week against Humboldt. Should be fun to watch.
  22. Congratulations to Coach Snow on his first victory as a head coach! Here's to many more to come.
  23. Snow is a good guy and a good coach. Fear not Lake Co faithful. He will do a good job there. You've got yourself a good one. Good luck to Coach Snow and the team this year.
  24. It is official about Roy Grant. It was in the Lexington paper today. I think the NAIA guy turned it down. He hasn't coached basketball in a few years, but I think he will still do a good job. He is getting into a tough district with Liberty, Bolivar, South Side, and others, so he needs community support.
  25. Nope. Roy Grant is the name I have been hearing.
