  1. It's funny how one can be wrong so many times in such little word usage. I see Independence fighting for that 4th seed in the region. I think Smith at QB, Heckman at RB, Sheppard and Williams at WR, and Berry anchoring the o-line will give the offense all they need to compete on a night to night basis in region 6. I think the one position that will not be replaced more than any other from last year or the history of the program (with exception to Joshua Grigsby 2 years ago) for that matter is Consiglio at line backer. His mental aspect he brought to the field isn't made or molded in one off season.
  2. It's funny how you bring up my screen name from time to time. And most recently Hitbehit did as well. To be completely honest I do not care about the feelings of hsfan or partyboy or anyone else on here. I care about talking, debating, or whatever pleases you to call it about the topic at hand which would be, "How well will Independence's running game be next year?" So children let's get back to the topic at hand and forget about the feelings of other posters. My opinion stays the same, I think they should put Heckman at running back. I also believe that the o-line will step just as they did last year with new personnel. I also think Petttigrew cannot be replaced at running back, however if Heckman gets the opportunity he will step up to the occasion. I also think they should utilized Cameron Williams speed more and get him involved on jet sweeps and other areas of the running game as well as the passing game.
  3. There is some truth to your statement that "He gets lots of reps at running back from the QB position." However it would be that much more effective to have him at running back. And if your statement is true regarding, running the spread offense like Indy does, then why didn't they use Emory Martin at QB back in 06 (if I remember correctly he reminds me a lot of Heckman with his running ability and sub par throwing abilities.)
  4. Funny thing is I bet you are right in the fact that there are "preordained" things at Indy. It seems Gilligan left some of his principles behind over there after all.
  5. I have no connections with Brentwood or Independence. However, my point earlier was that this region was down this past season. And to elaborate more on it you said that Brentwood "was a mere 11 points from winning the game at Indy and having the number one seed" which is true (well actually it's false it was 10 points but that's irrelevant to my point). However looking back, Brentwood lost to Siegel who did not even make the playoffs in region 4. So the fact that region 6 had a potential number 1 seed late in the season who had lost to a 5 seed from region 4, emphasizes my point that the region was down. And I did have the opportunity to see Brentwood play and I agree they "did not amount to much". And the only year Indy has been an easy win was their first year of varsity football. Not to mention they didn't have a senior class that year either.
  6. It is rather embarrassing what is going on at Northeast High School. And I hope someone in the administration realizes the little community support they have are embarrassed by this too.
  7. Please share with all of us where you went or currently attend college. This is quite impressive.
  8. I wouldn't really call it a waste. Anyone can throw a screen pass behind the line of scrimmage. I hope the coaching staff over there at Indy gives him a few reps at running back this spring, they might be surprised by a few things that unravel by doing that.
  9. Some of us are forgetting that many of the people on the o-line this past season were first year starters. The graduation bug hit them hard there the season before and again this year. I don't think that there will be much of a drop off. The line this past season lacked a lot of size but played well anyway. Scott Pettigrew will not be replaced, but someone will step up (possibly Heckman at running back).
  10. 6-5a was in a down year last season despite putting a team in the state championship game. One can only hope that the region returns to its normal dominance.
  11. More details on the weight lifted? and body weight of the person lifting?
  12. Buddy, you can accept it or not accept it, but thats what was said. And it's not classless it's just his honest opinion....and trust me he's been around. Don't let things bother you that badly. It leads to stress which can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and hormonal imbalances....just to name a few.
  13. Wow, I retract previous statements I made about them. This is a complete shocker.
  14. I definately didn't see this one coming. I, too, believe that this Antioch team is real good. This year's Franklin team took care of business in the regular season just like they do every year. However, a head coach in this district told me that this was the worst Franklin team that he had seen in 10 years. And I could almost quote that word for word. So it just makes me wonder if basketball was a little down this year in the district and region for that matter with the exception of Antioch.
  15. There are good points being brought up but the bottom line about my previous statement regarding Hickman County dropping a classification and benefiting from it is entirely accurate. Hickman County would have finished 6th had they stayed in 11-AAA behind the likes of (in order) Hillsboro, Brentwood, Independence, Ravenwood, and Franklin. At best they would have split with Franklin thus possibly coming in 5th. Either way they do NOT make the post season, much less sub-state. I understand the supportment for them but please be realistic for 2 seconds!
  16. Hillsboro by 20. The real region championship took place tonight when Hillsboro defeated Brentwood.
  17. It looks like the move down in classification really paid off for Hickman County.
  18. It's a real shame that the two best teams are playing in the region semi-finals and not the finals. It is kind of depressing that both of them are not going to sub-state. They are, hands down, the two best teams in the region, bar none.
  19. It's a shame the two best teams in the region have to play each other in the semi-finals rather than the finals. That's referring to Brentwood and Hillsboro. The winner of that game will win the Region hands down.
  20. Well this is obviusly coming from someone who hasn't seen Hillwood and Centennial play. Because if you had you would know that only God could help them. But no I would take Crouch, Haislip (IHS), Sims (BHS), Heaberlin (FHS), Perry (HHS), and I might even take Maher (BHS) as well over her. But this will be the last time I post on this particular thread. She is not warranted this much attention.
  21. stbulldog, I would say that Brentwood would beat them 19 out of 20 times. And I am being very realistic saying that (I know Ravenwood beat them once and that would be the only time). And I too have no ties to either school. But I have seen them both play several times this year and, to no disrespect to Ravenwood, but they are the weak link in Dist. 11 regardless of the outcome tomorrow. I will also say that the Hutson girl has the potential to be very good in the near future if she so chooses to continue to play basketball. However, this year I can think of about 5-7 girls in the district that I would take before her. Good luck to all of Dist. 11 in the region tourney!
  22. Interesting match-ups. My prediction on the winners are as follows: Antioch, Franklin, Centennial, and Stratford.
  23. And what evidence, "Sisco", do you have to back your opinion.
  24. I will say this and it is a little off topic but.... when Independence opened in 2004 it took a lot out of Page. This statement is applied to all of sports including girls basketball. I, along with many others, feel that this year and last Page would have been in the running for a state title in a few sports(football, Boys and Girls basketball, and volleyball) had Independence not opened. But reality has set in and this is it. I hate it when situations like this one comes up, it being political and all. Good luck to Coach Dye in the future. I wonder if Coach Barnwell might be of interest......na!
  25. This is not suprising that Ravenwood lost so badly. They are not on the same playing field with Brentwood (and I know they beat them once in the regular season). I think Ravenwood beating Hillsboro was a complete fluke and nothing more. If Independence and Ravenwood can win their games it will be a clean sweep by Dist. 11 in the region tourney. I know Hillsboro and Brentwood will both take care of business.
