  1. Didn't see this one coming. However, congrats to Coach Thweat, his staff, and his players on a job well done. Great win coach.
  2. I think it would be appropriate to add Jeff Barnes name in there for that first year when Derek, Donta, and Antonio were juniors. Still sticking with my prediction that Franklin wins. And Jamie Graham is one heck of an athlete. He is not over-rated but everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But I do not have a problem giving your opinion of an athlete(by name) that has already graduated from high school. He is an adult.
  3. No Indy was outmatched in that game at almost every position and was not capeable of winning that game unlike the Centennial Hillsboro game in which Centennial was very capeable of winning. BIG Difference!
  4. Franklin wins by 15+. Although I have to say that I am very impressed with what the coach has done over at Hillsboro since he got there from Ravenwood a couple of years ago. Keep up the good work coach. Centennial should win their game against Brentwood but I'm not convinced they will.
  5. Not sure about the best team in the state? That might be a stretch but it would have been real interesting to see how the team would have performed last year with Bartsokas and co. The best team in the district (and the 3rd best team-Indy) is playing in the 3rd place game tomorrow. I am predicting a clean sweep by district 11 in the region tournament. And I would have to say that Brentwood is better than Independence due to the fact that they have defeated them 3 times this year by an average of 8 points per contest.
  6. Not sure at the moment on how Independence will turn out next season. Is the coaching staff going to remain the same? Is it going to be the same offensive/defensive play calling/scheming? I am not sure that Heckman will be the starting quarterback. I think he would be better used at running back and letting Smith run the offense. More to come.
  7. Did Darrell Miller really dominate Kelly like the box score represents. Franklin and Centennial win their next game but it would not suprise me if Centennial lost again.
  8. What a huge win for Ravenwood. I am predicting a cleen sweep by district 11 over district 12 in the region tournament.
  9. That's good. Independence lost roughly 97% of their scoring and all 5 starters and the first 3 subs off the bench. If memory serves me right they only had one young man on the team this year that played any last year (making up the other 3%) And yes Franklin once again is the strongest team in the county and probably will be next year as well.
  10. Well I guess Independence lived up to their pre-season prediction, a disappointing season highlighted by their win over Ravenwood. It's tough when you graduate that many people (referring to the 2007 class), however I see that the future will be bright for this young team.
  11. Obviously I don't know the entire truth.....but it sounds like Western is getting a real winner!
  12. Kelly... not debateable! Last year it was a 3-way tie between him, Kuchar(Independence) and Batt(Franklin)....I believe so anyway.
  13. Congrats to both Baugh and Pettigrew! The coaches at Independence have been hard at work on getting these young men's names out to the colleges. However one thing alot of the rest of this class lacked was speed. Unfortunately at the next level 5.0 and 4.9 40s don't really cut it at skill positions. Also a lack of size at their college position(s) they would have has steered coaches away. (Which in my opinion doesn't make sense...if the kid can play he can play...regardless of size.) I don't really buy into the whole "new school" reason as to why they were or are not being recruited. One other thing (and i hate to type it) is that this 5a region was way down this year and in-state college coaches/recruiters know this (whether you believe it or not) due to the fact that they follow in-state high school football more than out of state schools similar to themselves do as part of the whole recruiting process (just take a look at TTU or Carson-Newman's recruiting classes this year). I wish the rest of the young men the best of luck in their future, on or off the playing field. A couple of them would make great walk-ons at different schools.
  14. I think you meant to say how a naturally gifted blessing pays off.....
  15. This Hillsboro team looks to be real good and their record is a bid indicator of it. It reminds me a lot of the Hillsboro team a few years ago with Jessica Mooney and company.
  16. I agree with you, these Franklin boys can play but not to the level that Hillsboro team did. That is no discredit to this Franklin team either. I just don't think they could match up with the likes of Irvin, Hudson, LeFlore, and Kuli-Zade.
  17. That's what I thought. The district doesn't have teams like that 04-05 Hillsboro team anymore. Those boys could play some basketball.
  18. I agree that no one will challenge the Rebels this year or next. There have been challengers in the past (Independence 06-07, Ravenwood 05-06, and Hillsboro 04-05) but have been unsuccessful in the last 47? contests. Question: Was Hillsboro the last team to beat them in 04-05?
  19. I had a chance to catch an Independence basketball game the other night, and I didn't recognize one person out there. Now I will be the first to admit I don't pay a whole lot of attention to basketball but I do know that they had a great regular season last year that was cut too short in the post season. I guess the graduation bug has hit them hard. Any thoughts?
  20. Did he graduate from White House a few years back. If it was the same person I am thinking of he was one heck of a running back.
  21. On to more interesting info., is the Cunningham boy from 2006 playing college football anywhere or anyone else from that 07 class?
  22. Who or what would have him come speak to kids about whatever. It must have been a fellow drug dealer or accomplice in murder? I am all for giving second and third and fourth and fifth chances but the line has got to stop somewhere and for Adam that was a long time ago.
