  1. I heard on the radio a few minutes ago that Sweetwater head coach Craig Moser was arrested for a DUI & has resigned his coaching position. I have met Coach Moser & he seemed like a great guy. He obviously made a bad decision & I wish him well. What does to do to the Sweetwater program so close to the start of the season?
  2. The Price Twins have been doing everything the right way in getting the players out & the good media following. They are now in year 3 with several starters returning so it is time for them to start winning. I don't think it will happen a 5th place finish may be possible, but thats no guarentee. This is just one of the district predictions that baffled me with Donovan Stewarts picks. Actually it more than baffled me when I saw this I actually laughed for a good 3 or 4 minutes. lol I will say if CC can outscore people they might pull a few surprises, but they need to learn to play defense if they want to finish 3rd.
  3. Haha I don't have a son, so much for that. I also don't have a praticular team. I follow several teams with friends that coach at several school in East TN. I just know I read several articles on here & it seems anytime I read one of his it is way off on several of the teams I follow. An example would be a few weeks ago he put that a team ran a pro offense & I knew they just installed a spread offense in spring. If he didn't get a reply from that teams coach he should have put no reply.
  4. I din't call him a name, I said hes a joke & I'm referring to his articles not him as a person. I don't know him. What I do know is that if you can't get enough information then you shouldn't write about it. Also, he doesn't have to cover the entire state he can stick to his area because he probably knows that best & let the sports editors in their areas cover their districts.
  5. This guy is a joke. His predictions are for the most part way off & there are players that I know have been offered by D1 FCS schools & they aren't even predicted as a player to watch in their district. If your gonna try to cover high school football at least get more than 1 or 2 coaches inputs from the district instead of just sitting down & writing stuff for your own entertainment.
  6. You must have been at a different 7 on 7 then everyone else lol. It wasn't a tournament it was just a passing practice. I watched several different teams & most of the ones I saw didn't even move the ball up & down the field. They would just bring it back. I saw a few where one team would move the ball & the other team wouldn't. It was up to how the offense wanted to run it. Either way it sounds like your team had a good showing. Good luck this season.
  7. I went to Maryville & caught several games yesterday. Saw a lot of good players & good teams, it's always exciting to see that many teams in one place. I watched Campbell Co. & Maryville. Both teams looked very sharp 7 I was impressed with the QB at Campbell Co. I believe his name was Jeffers. I watched WB & saw some good things, but will agree they didn't look very consistant. Still they showed great potential, just thought of the 2 QBs I saw them use neither one was consistant, but they had a receiver that had some blazing speed. What is his name? I'm sure we will read about him this season. Watched Clinton & they were popping off 30 plays or more in 10 minute intervals every time they had the ball. Hit some big plays & several 5-15 yard passes. Their QB was getting it out fast, very impressed with him. Their big play receiver wowed me. I think someone said Drake Powell, should hear his name a lot this season. Heritage has a very athletic looking QB with a strong arm & Alco was Alcoa, athletes out the butt that can run around you & big enough to run over you. Knox Catholic passing game looked very solid. Should be a big year in the area. I'm very excited for some football.
  8. I talked with a couple of coaches on both teams, it was a 3 way with Coalfield. They said it was getting a little chippy on both sides started almost tackling each other & stuff. I was told both teams offenses were pretty good, but apparently the no huddle tempo that Clinton had going was very fast paced & the young Sophomore QB didn't throw any interceptions in well over 100 attempts. So they must have something going. According to their stat guy the first time they had the ball against WB they ran 30 plays in 10 minutes completing on 24 of those attempts with 2 drops. Thats playing fast with a high efficency. The WB offense wasn't quite as fast, but they said they threw a few picks, but felt they gradually got better as the games went on. People remember this isn't real football, it was controlled & they brought the ball back to the line of scrimmage after every snap. Sounds like all 3 of these teams were working hard & getting better, thats what 7 on 7 is for, if you don't believe me read the George Quarles article on prep xtra. It is a whole different game when you throw the lineman in & have a pass rush to deal with. Good luck to both teams this season.
  9. two things. 1 who is the most likely asst. coach to be named the interim? 2. I have often wondered why Karns can't seem to build anything regardless of who the coach is. I know they had some good talent come through 2 years ago & won some games, but then straight back down to 1-9. Can this be a good job?
  10. Must have been 7 on 7, how did it go? I know coaches on both staffs, curious as to how the teams will be.
  11. No that is incorrect. The school you are with might be doing it that way, but all the schools were placed into a morning or afternoon session with 3 or 4 schools participating in both sessions.
  12. Alcoa by at least 35 & thats with Rankin calling off the Dogs.
  13. Technically they shouldn't be receiving any coaching in the month of June. Only weight lifting & conditioning until after dead period according to TSSAA rules.
  14. TSSAA has no control over AAU sports
  15. Oneida & Rockwood is a great matchup to start the season.
  16. Just another example of why all these cowardly private schools should be forced to play in the private school D2 league. But, I guess they know they can't hang with those guys so they gotta stay here & play the big bully against the small schools.
  17. What are jason Hammontrees credentials. Where has he been & how old is he? Was he coaching in KY a few years ago?
  18. That is a good hire, Im surprised he left AE after just 1 season
  19. What do you mean? Nothing bad i hope.
  20. Your the one that said an Anderson co. guy applied. o what have you heard? I only know of 1 guy & he is in Knox County, I don't want to give out his name, but it is in West Knoxville.
  21. You are thinking small. Pretty sure Greeneville is glad they hired an out of towner a few years ago, Rankin isn't from Aloca, both of those teams have won several state championships with out of towners. & the great General Neyland wasn't from Knoxville, but hey he only had the stadium named after him & won some national championships. Not everyone is like Harrison.
  22. Kingston can be a pretty good job. I don't think you all need to limit yourself to a hometown boy, just because they played there doesn't mean their the best coach. I agree with volsrock hire the best most qualified coach. I know you guys feel you got burned by Harrison, hes an out of towner who pulled a Kiffin on you, but there are plenty of coaches that will respect tradition and want to be a part of that tradition rather than change it. Good luck in your search, but don't limit yourself. Also, I don't think Pankey wants it. I do know someone from Knox County that said they want to look into it & an earlier post mentioned someone from Anderson Co. So again don't limit yourself.
  23. Although their unis look the same as far as color & things of that nature they still have new up to date uniforms. The hi tech fitting that is basically a sleeveless jersey. Go take a look at them if you dont agree. No teams wear the long sleeves with tons of stripes. But I heard people there complain about the football team wearing Navy in the past, but when the Govs started winning all of that went away lol. My point is if I go to a store & buy a shirt, I am going to buy a shirt that I like regardless of what anyone else thinks about it because I will be the one wearing it. So if the players on the team like the unis then it doesn't matter what fans think because the players will be wearing them. The older someone gets the more resistant to change they are. I hated all these uniform changes a few years ago, but I love the game & Im not the one wearing them so I decided to get over it. Now they are growing on me.
  24. Hey 91 I see teams wear unis like that once a year in the NFL, its called throwback unis lol. Kids don't want to look old school
