Be one heck of a hire, I have known him for some time & it seems he is always a part of something good. He built Wartburg up into a respectable program & his offense at Clinton this year put up big #s. I think he would strive at a school with the athletes Central has.

I'm guessing the talent is about to drop back down at LC. I know Woods returns but other than that whos left? I have no clue just taking a guess at why he might have resigned. How many Srs are they losing?

I will say this TSSAA sends out official plaques, I'm pretty sure they don't recognize co-champions. AC will get a championship plaque & CC will get a runner up plaque. If CC really wanted one that says champions they should have beaten AC head to head. BUT CCHS wins a play-off game for the first time ever tonight & records their first 10 win season in history. Nothing to hang your head about, win the district next year!!!

I agree with you. Ellison is a good coach has done some good things in his career & Clintons offense put up some big #s this year. There should be some quality applicants for this job, but if they will go outside of Knox County & bring in some Fresh blood he could do a great job. On another note I am sure Mark Pemberton will apply lol, he has been at Rhea County for 1 full season so he is probably ready to move.

Lookin forward to some good football....should see plenty of young guys playin for Bearden, get to check out the future.

I was told that Pankey was asked several times & said the team was too beat up to play & also said there were some kids headed to basketball so he couldn't do it. I think it is sad that the money is going for a player injured playing for him & they won't be there to help that cause. I'm sure Pankey cares about the kid & he knows what is best for his team, but still should play in this one. There is not a big difference in a 0-10 or 0-11 season, but they may have gotten a win. There were several other teams interested in coming at the time such as Clinton & Oliver Springs. Either would have been a good matchup for Kingston. Probably too late in the week to get one of them now.

I think there are some internal issues going on at Oliver Springs, have been told the entire staff may lose their job. This would have been an intriguing matchup to watch.

It is Saturday, not sure of the match ups or times as of yet. I think they are trying to do a double & maybe even a triple header format. I have heard several teams mentioned from the area, but no official matchups released as of yet.

TSSAA allows any team that does not qualify for the play offs to schedula an 11th game. Both teams must be at least 5-5 for it to be a bowl game, but any team regardless of record can schedule an 11th game. It counts just like any other game on your schedule & gives you an extra week of practice toward next year. With that being said this is the 2nd year they have doen this, last season the game was Oliver Springs & Stone Memorial at Grace. The money went to 2 different kids that had major injuries, this year it is all going to the young man at Kingston. So you get to see good football & raise money for a great cause at the same time. You also might see some matchups that you don't normally see, like last years game.

Apparently Karns according to another thread. I would think that Halls will open as well, but thats just speculation. It is that time of year though, it will be interesting to see what happens between now & christmas.

I knew the current coach was an interim, but will they officially look for a new coach? Halls did a "search" last year & then just named the interim the head coach. Knox County seems to be a difficult place. I know there are several coaches including 1 or 2 head coaches that have to work in a different building. If you can't get a head coach in the building that is a major problem. With that being said I don't see how in the world a whole new staff could be brought in. Although that does appear to be needed.

Guys listen a district champ does not get an automativ #1 seed. The playoff criteria is all that counts. Winning a district gets you in but doesn't mean anything when it comes to seeding. They did a way with that 2 or 3 years ago. The new standings are posted on TSSAA now & West is ahead of AC.

District wins have absolutely nothing to do with making the play-offs anymore. With the exception of finishing 1st or 2nd in the district everyone else is a wildcard. It is based on 17 different sets of criteria with the #1 thing they look at being overall wins & the #2 thing they look at being strength of schedule. If you look at the TSSAA website this past weeks play-off standings had 5 teams from District 3 AAA teams in. AC, CC, Powell, Oak Ridge, & Clinton. I have seen several districts 5 teams in the past few years. Mathmatically it would be hard to get more than 5 in with overall wins being the first criteria.

I went to the game & it was a litttle sloppy at times, but a very good game with 2 teams fighting till the end. A very very good drive by the Dragons to win the game with 27 seconds remaining on the clock. Jammin you might be interested to know that Clinton only has 2 seniors starting on both sides of the ball...so they are very young as well. I am not a fan of either school just no a couple of coaches on the Clinton staff so I went to check them out. It sounds like both teams are playing a lot of sophomoers & Juniors. The futures could be bright. Speaking of sophomores...it is hard to believe the Clinton QB is just a sophomore!! Congrats to both teams, what a game.

They show a ton of blowouts on here & we have to watch all 4 quarters lol finally a great game & this happens

Gotta disagree The kid at AC had a very strong arm. I watched him on tv twice that season threw plenty of passes over 8 yards & had a rifle. Ive seen Jeffers he has a strong arm as well. But you are right all the yards count, Peyton Manning wouldnt have as many yards without wrs breaking them the distance lol

AC went 11-3 in 1996 & reached the semi finals in 4a, the highest class at the time was 5a. That was ACs best season ever. Clinton went 14-1 in 1992 & were the state runner ups in AAA which was the highest class at that time. Clinton has the better tradition, but appears that AC has dominated this series as of late. I lve rivalries & know a few coaches on both staffs. I think I will go check this one out, havent seen a game at Clinton in over 10 years.
