  1. Congrats to Cookeville on a great season. Wouldn't expect anything different with a former Warrior at the helm. Congrats to the Warriors on a good season and over coming a lot of adversity. Now that the seasons over what is it going to take to get the Warriors to next level. If there has been one weakness I can see its at the OC position. The play calling as been questionable all year long and the lack of adjustments during the game was glaring at times. Lets face it, If it wasn't for the talent of Savion Davis this team would not have won nearly as many games. He single handedly bailed out the OC many times. The staff needs some looking at because at times you cant tell who is running the show and there seems to be some disconnection there. Just my evaluation.... Go Warriors and congrats again on a good season.
  2. This 2017-18 team is in trouble. The positives are the run defense can be outstanding with some improvement but the negatives far outweigh the pluses. The secondary is very weak and can be exploited and teams like Blackman will destroy it. The offense will be improved with another year experience under their belts. The question after watching 3 scrimmages is the play calling. The pro style offensive is questionable. Doing check downs to run off tackle for no gain over and over makes no sense. Scruggs is spark but they seem to be relying on him for the big strike scoring too much. The kicking game once again is horrible on a middle school. For the life of me I don't understand how a school of this size cant find anyone who can kick the ball. But the most troubling thing with this team once again is its lack of drive and discipline. Walking on and off the field and the lack drive in the players is puzzling. It's like they are just going through the motions. The only discipline I see is the screaming coming from the coach without results. I hate to say it but this team is looking at another 5-5 season.
  3. Hey I saw a new link to a new county website that covers all high school teams in Rutherford County. It looks good and its giving students an opportunity to be sports journalist for each school with a chance to win a college scholarship. Here's the link http:\\www.rutherfordcountyhighschoolfootball.com
  4. Good Luck Blackman, your day is coming soon....
  5. It never fails to astound me the insult level of the Rebel fans. I met the M Preps guy several times this year and he knows more about high school football in this country and probably has forgotten more that you will ever know. National CBS Press Corp, unapproved website, Fox Sports, Cincinnati Enquirer, Cleveland Plane Dealer, Columbus Dispatch. 40 years of reporting on and lifting up high school football and being personally responsible for getting over 100 kids into colleges that might not have ever had a chance. He's done that for 3 of our kids this year alone. You should be half the man for high school football as he is..
  6. The kicking issue goes deeper than that. There is an over bearing parent coach involved that wont take any advice. The kid is so screwed up in the head he cant kick straight. It may be a hopeless situation unless daddy backs off.
  7. On paper this one should go to the Warriors but until they show they can puttogether a consistent mistake free game and find someone who can kick the ball Id have to say it's a toss up. I wonder how many losses its going to take until the staff..."Kelly" swallows his pride in developing a QB and figures out that there best chance to win is with Odom at QB?
  8. I do agree to some of your points about the coaching or players but there are two sides. As a strong team of seniors their output should be stronger. So far I have seen nothing but maybe a play or two from the so called "star****" players. They have yet to show anyone why they deserve a star much less a check mark. As for the staff, yes the weight training is a good thing as itcomes to team development for the future but isn't it a coaches responsibility to get the best out of his players? And can you say that's being done if players are still playing both ways and getting worn out? So when are you developing the future if your not getting playing time out of the under classmmen? Or backup seniors for that matter. Let's face it, we all know the coach has pressure to win and that's why he's playing players both ways, so if that's not working when is it time to start working for the future? And if all your doing different is weight training and screaming your different type of discipline to your players is that really rebuilding? Just some thoughts to ponder on..
  9. I disagree, If there is any team that needs a win its Riverdale. They need the emotional boost to keep from getting the here we go again attitudes...
  10. Sorry we cant all be like you Williamson County Give Them All A Hug And A trophy Type Parents! Life is real and so is football. The truth is sometimes painful but also necessary...
  11. Im not sure what team you guys have been watching but this is a repeat of last year. They only thing that has changed are the faces. Players still playing both ways and getting worn out by the fourth quarter. A QB who has no poise and it completely out of sync. An offensive line that has more holes than swiss cheese. A running game that can only move the ball on busted plays. The complete lack of any passing game. The play calling which is suppose to be a pro style offensive that looks like its being run by a drunken Johhny Manzel. The complete lack of imagination on the offense. This team will be lucky to finish out with the same record they had last year. Sorry for telling the truth here but the only thing the new staff has done is instill weight training and some discipline but so far neither have manifest themselves on the field.
  12. I think after seeing all the Murfreesboro teams that I believe there is one that can beat Maryville but it's probably not the team that everyone is thinking. Smyrna, they are the team to be in this region..
  13. We understand that this year is a rebuilding year and any win is a plus but the weaknesses are glaring. The O line is weak and cant block anyone and the running game is hurt with their leading preseason rusher playing little with a broken collar bone. The only way they have been able to move the ball on the ground is on busted plays. The QB is very inexperienced and doesn't have the poise to be a QB. They have a lot of talent but not in the right places. Big blow to the defense with Dandre Litaker out for the year with acl surgery. Lets face it, if they repeat the same season record as last year they will be lucky.
  14. The big weakness is the O line. They couldn't run on Franklin at all and most of their ground yardage came on busted plays. Im not sure what pro style offense they are running but it must be the Cleveland Browns. Major blow to the D line with Litaker probably out for the rest of the season injuring his other knee badly...mri on Monday. I think youll see more of Odom at QB since its obvious that number 7 has no accuracy at all and cant throw the ball deep. I think the boys learned a lesson this week on reading too much of their press.
  15. Halftime in Murfreesboro and Riverdale's up 34-0....Dem Owls getting their feathers plucked!
  16. Lets face it. The Warrior defense will be a rock but the offense is in trouble. Looks like Scruggs reinjured his broken collar bone and may be out again. He was 80% of their offense. I understand the new offense and it supposing to be a pro style set but if it is it must be a Cleveland Browns offense. And once again the kicker missed his only pat. They have got to find another one soon. The starting QB did not play and was suspended for the game do to behavioral issues and that didn't help. These boys need to stop reading their press and tweet hype and start performing on the field. You have two of the best wide receivers in the state but they have only thrown the ball deep once all preseason. This team is in trouble..
  17. In simple terms the jamboree for the warriors was a nitemare. There need to find an offense. The starting QB was suspended for behavior and Odom took the reigns. They managed one score and again a missed PAT by the kicker. Looks like the running back Stubbs reinjured his broken collar bone and if he's out that will be a tremendous blow to the offense as he has accounted for 80% of the yards in preseason. Im not sure where is pro style offense is but unless it's the Cleveland Browns offense its not there. If they don't figure something out soon its going to a long disappointing season for the Warriors.
  18. Well just make sure you bring your trash bags when you come to Murfreesboro because youll need them to put all the Owl crap in..
  19. It will be interesting to see that the Warriors bring to the table this year. The defense should be a brick wall with all the returning talent and the couple they have added. Its the offense that will be the question. Lets just hope their #3 preseason ranking in 6A wont go to their heads.
  20. Believe me, The Number 3 preseason ranked in Tennessee 6A will be ready for the number ? ...oh that's right, them Owls aren't ranked. And if there is one thing for sure this Warriors in not the same Warrior team that tem Owls saw last year. This team is senior strong and has a defense that can stop anyone in the state.
  21. Scrimmage friday night showed improvement. Boykin and Litaker were both dress but Litaker didn't see any playing time. The defense looks outstanding not allowing McGavock to cross mid field all evening. Adding these two guys will make it a brick wall. They may have to move some guys over to the O line to help it...it needs it. The transfer from Siegel, Michael Scruggs #30 is making a case for a starting roll at running back with anyone outstanding performance. I have to say he has one of best lateral moves ive seen in years and he's lighting quick. That's a good thing because we haven't really seen anything out of the rest of the cast of backs. QB looked better with one good deep ball but needs to work on his field vision and composure under pressure. 2 weeks to put it all together. Jamboree this Friday night should see what they really have against a much improved Smyrna team.
  22. Agreed!! The kicker they have has been injured all summer and has yet to make a pat in any scrimmage yet. He didn't work out all summer and this could cost the Warriors games as the year goes on..
