  1. Pretty sure Dickson isn't 10-1 because they are slow! This wont be the fastest team Dickson has played. They see speed every week! Thats all clarksville schools have is speed (not much coaching or discipline!) Speed wise Dickson matches up well with this bunch on both sides. And I am glad you have the defensive game plan nailed down for Dickson!
  2. You obviously haven't seen Dickson play much if you think their secondary isn't any good. Their two corners are probably their two best defensive players. They run a cover 2 and rely on them to make plays and they do. Their safeties aren't bad either. One of them has a lot of interceptions. I haven't seen a team throw on them much all year and I've been to almost every home game. Their defense is much better than you obviously think. Probably the best defense mt Juliet has seen this year
  3. I think thats exactly what Dickson has to do to this Memphis area school....HIT THEM IN THE MOUTH! I think they will. From what I know (which is limited), Memphis area teams like to run the spread and use their athletic ability. Dickson is going to cram it down your throat. Don't think Arlington sees that very often, and I don't know if they can or how they will stop it. . I think Dickson wins 31-17. I could be wrong, because I'm not that familiar with Arlington.
  4. Dickson has seen plenty of these type teams it seems. Most of the Clarksville schools were very athletic and ran the spread offense. I think the Cougars will be prepared. And yes, Dickson does run a lot...Smash mouth football from the Cougars. I don't think that Memphis area teams see a lot of that and that may be advantageous for Dickson.
  5. I am pretty sure head to head doesn't matter in seeding (maybe I'm wrong). If it does, please correct me because there are many predictions that should be changed. Brighton will be seeded higher only because they have more teams on their schedule that have won 50% or more of their games, not because they beat Millington.
  6. I know it doesn't make sense because Smyrna beat Siegal, but Siegal has the better record (7-3), so they will be ahead of Smyrna (6-4). Neither are district champs or runner ups, so that has no bearing. Siegal will be 6 and Smyrna 7 in this Quad.
  7. Thats an awfully bold statement to make. If you are a Springfield fan, I'm assuming you witnessed the defeat your Jackets suffered at the hands of Dickson. I know HC beat Springfield (I know they handled them VERY soundly), but according to the stats I read Dickson held Springfield to less than 5 yards rushing and under 70 yards passing with only 3 first downs. Any team that does that should not be considered a team that "can't play" with any HS football team in Middle TN. I realize that HC is the team to beat in this district, but I do feel that the Cougars CAN play with the Patriots. Win? Don't know. But it won't be a 40-7 game like HC has been getting! It will be a dogfight. But like the last poster said, HC should worry about NE first. They aren't going to go down without a fight either.
  8. Not a knock against Springfield, but you are posting as if the result last night was due to Springfield (injuries, execution, etc.). Honestly, I was there and it boils down to the fact that DC beat up on Springfield all night on both sides of the ball. They ran the ball on them with ease and I believe Springfield may have had 3 first downs all night and under 10 yards rushing, maybe 50-75 yards passing. Just what it seemed to me. Springfield is a talented team and could easily be a major factor in this district down the road, but give credit to where credit is due. DC straight up beat the Jackets.
  9. I have no clue what type of team collierville has. Can someone with some knowledge on Collierville inform me? Are they an running team? Do they throw it? Being in Middle TN, we rarely see teams from Memphis, so I don't even know if I can make a prediction on this one. I'm assuming they are pretty good considering their record and the fact they made the playoffs. I do agree with other posters, if DC plays like they did against Henry Co., they will get beat.
  10. Drew, I know that most HC fans have a little common sense and realize that this game could easily go either way. Unfortunately for HC fans, there are several of you guys...the ones that claim to have been a coach, or the ones that post with no logic, that make the entire fanbase seem unrealistic and extremely cocky. Understand this, I have great respect for the HC tradition and know that this HC team is very good. With that being said I also know that this DC team is very good (best there's been round here in a long time). So, I'm realistic to know that this will be a tight game. Good luck to both sides. HC fans, drive safe.
  11. From the way you sound there might as well not even be a game! HC fans sound so confident I don't see any reason for DC to play! I never knew that any team was that good to be able to look at scores of years past and predict wins. I'm sure that the DC kids are thinking about those beatings and thinking they have no chance, considering many of them didn't play in those games and the ones that did must be scared to play! You sound like an ignorant fan. No offense, but comments like that just make you sound like you have no football knowledge at all. What you are trying to say is that because team A beat team B LAST YEAR (which bears no significance at all other than revenge), that must mean team A will beat team B again this year. Where is your logic? Oh and FYI, comparing scores against common opponents makes a whole lot of sense in athletics too doesn't it. I mean look at college football, I'm going to assume that Kentucky could beat Alabama because Kentucky beat S. Carolina who beat Alabama! I mean come on, have a little sense when you post.
  12. What would lead you to assume that this game will be easy for Henry County? Just wondering, cause I would be shocked if the game is won by more than 7 or 10 points (either way). DC will show up ready to play, dispite what some HC fans think. This will obviously be HC's toughest task (other than Liberty) and the same said for DC (other than Columbia). Also, I will disagree with you on the fact that the district is down. That is not true at all. I'd say that two teams are worse than they were last year (Rossview and Northwest), but several teams are much better than they were last year (WC, Springfield, Kenwood). I think Clarksville and NE are about where they were last year and DC is definately improved. Now this district is not a very tough district, but there is no evidence that would prove that it is not as tough as last year (I'd say it is a bit tougher).
  13. That is quite funny you compared scores to determine who is better! If you are going to do that (which you should never do that when comparing teams!) then look at the other scores of the same opponents, as well....Dickson shut out Clarksville NE and HC didn't. Dickson held Clarksville to 7 pts, and HC gave up 14 to C'ville. Dickson put up 42 on NW and HC only put up 38, Dickson shut out Kenwood (I realize HC did too). So your conclusion to say that HC's offense and defense is better is really not accurate based on facts. Lets stay away from comparing both teams by using scores (because then DC may have a better Defense!). Game will be close and tough. Low scoring...DC 17 HC 14
  14. They were able to stay in the game with DC for the exact same reason they were able to stay in the game with HC...They are a good, tough team! I'd also venture to say that the DC kids were probably looking forward a little bit towards this game and may have slightly looked past the Wildcats. It doesn't matter. A W is a W! Should be a good one this thursday!
  15. Dickson was very impressive tonight. Had they not turned the ball over several times going into the end zone, this score would have been very lop sided! I don't think that NE had but two first downs all game and from my memory the ball only crossed the 50 twice (one due to a turnover).
  16. Very surprising...I thought Springfield would have no problems with Kenwood. Good win for the Jackets and apparently a very good showing by Kenwood.
  17. NE doesn't throw it near as much as Springfield or West Creek. NE will try to pound the ball with their big tail back (D I prospect), who gashed DC last year, and run a little with their speedy QB. DC's aggressive style of defense should be a good match for NE running game. I think DC will win this one 21-7. Should be a good a game...I'd expect a little attitude of revenge from DC since NE took them to the woodshed last season!
  18. Didn't you just contradict yourself....If Dickson is your major test this season, how can HC (and only HC) be the class of the district? And are you trying to say the Dickson will not make any post season noise? I do believe that Dickson made more post season noise than HC by beating a very good Hunter's Lane (non-district) team, while HC only beat a 4-6 Springfield (District) team (and last year's HC team was much better than this years. Just saying...I think HC may be in for a schock when they come to Dickson next month.
  19. the pass interference call WAS the right call. The DC player was coming back for the ball, the SF defender was not making a play on the ball and did not see the ball cause he was beat, so he clearly wrapped his arms around the DC receiver keeping him from the ball. That call would and should have been made by any officiating crew. It would have been called in the first quarter, and ts should have been called in the fourth quarter. Springfield cannot get any better until they learn from their own mistakes (fumbles, ints, lack of discipline) and stop blaming others for their defeat.
  20. While we are comparing things here to try and make judgements about both these teams, lets compare what DC did to Springfield last season (a 28-14 victory by the Cougars if I'm not mistaken...at SHS homecoming)...I know, I know Springfield was young and the've gotten better and they have brought back a lot of talent....the reality is, DC has brought back a lot of talent at key positions from last year, as well (they are much improved over last season). So, I just don't see why people would think this is going to be a close game. From my viewpoint I think olddevil is a little nervous that his Patriots may not be the king of the district this year and he is trying to make himself feel good by playing down DC and pumping up SHS (whom his Patriots snuck by last week)...We will wait till Oct. 21 to just see who is the king of this district! Again, my prediction holds DC rolls!!!!
  21. When you run an offense like springfields, you take a risk that you may have some turnovers in a game. Springfield's problems with turnovers are due to the type of offense they run (and a few poor decisions I'm sure). When you throw the ball 40 times a game, you run a higher risk of throwing a pick than a team that throws it 10-15 times a game!
  22. I just don't see how Dickson could lose this one. Springfield will pose a challenge to Dickson, but not Dickson's toughest challenge this season. Dickson has too much talent and discipline, and from what I've heard about there is not enough discipline for Springfield (there is apparantly talent). Plus, no one will be able to stop #32, who is probably the best player in the district. Its gonna be a good homecoming for the Cougars!
  23. Although it was a loss (10-7). Dickson manhandled Columbia, who is MUCH better than Springfield. So, saying they haven't played anyone as good as Springfield is untrue. Grant it, Rossview, Kenwood, and Northwest are not very good, and DC showed that. This is homecoming week for Dickson! And if anyone thinks Springfield will put up 27 against this defense, they are out of their mind. I don't think Dickson has given up over 120 yards total offense to anyone they have played. Their first team defense has been scored on twice. Dickson 28 Springfield 7.
  24. Dickson does run the option! They have plenty of stud athletes too! You must be basing your predictions about Dickson off of assumptions rather than facts. I wouldn't be surprised to see Springfield beat HC. HC doesn't look near as good as they have in the past. Don't get your hopes up too soon about your Patriots.
  25. Wow!!! Dickson County struggles against the spread! You must have incorrect sources. As I know for a fact, Dickson held Columbia (best team in 5A) to under 75 total yards for the game (not the half) last friday! If memory serves me correctly, Columbia runs a lot of Spread looks (as well as I formation looks too)...Holding the best team in 5A to under 75 yards for an entire game isn't struggling (and yes, Dickson still found a way to turn the ball over too much and lose!)...But Dickson's struggles definately aren't defense, so i wouldn't be looking past them just yet!
