  1. Alcoa will lose someday. Who knows it may be today.
  2. Goodpasture is far brom big this year. Infact they have had a size disadvantige in about every game this year. Last year they tried to pound teams down with the line. This year have have smaller, faster linemen. For what ever reason it is working pretty well. I believe this team has more big play potential than last year, and I think they will score on Alcoa, and not the 2nd and 3rd team either. I understand why Alcoa fans think this is going to be a walk in the park, but I think it could be a good game.
  3. Maybe I am just wishful thinking, but I think GP is gonna score some points this year. Will they stop Alcoa? maybe not. If they can get on the board early and get some confidence, anything can happen.
  4. Goodpasture knows how dangerous Alcoa is, and are not walking into this blind. I am not getting my hopes up, but I do believe GP will put some points on the board this year. I'll get out my umbrella for the smack talk that will rain down.
  5. Peabody looked stunned. I don't think they know what him them. Mercy.
  6. Thats what they thought with Livingston Academy.
  7. Thats a pretty smug post. DCA has a few gold balls in the trophy case as well. Maybe someday DCA can develop into a pretty good program? Give me a break. There's a day coming.
  8. I don't know of any Goodpasture fan that thinks this will be a blow out. If anything I am worried about GP's ability to stop a QB that can run. Lowry for CPA had 250 yds. I think this is a bad matchup for GP, and I think this will be a fight to the end. It seems mor people are picking Peabody. Back in my day it was the two bands who were the big rivals.
  9. You say that as if they moved up to 2A. HC has a good team, but this one was never really that close in the 2nd half. Dropped pass/ blocked punt was big for Goodpasture. Someone told me HC only had 11 completed passes coming into this game. They needed more balance on O.
  10. Goodpasture has played 3 emotionally draining games in a row, all have come down to the wire. I think Goodpasture will break this one open early. My pick GP 41 HC 20.
  11. Pride is a killer, luckily our opinions have nothing to do with the outcomes of the games on the field. I assure you Goodpasture isn't expecting to waltz into the blue cross bowl. To overlook anyone at this stage of the game would be a grave mistake. Now, it would be a bigger mistake to assume you are playing Goodpastures JV from last year. In many ways this years team is more explosive on offense than last year. Defence is not quite as strong, but are still very good. I just can't imagine Lewis, Camden, Hickman having the same size and speed as Ravenwood, McGavock, Coffee County, Lipscomb, and CPA. If they do, then more power to them. Like you said anything can happen once the whistle blows.
  12. GP beat 3 average 5A teams, so I'm pretty sure they can handle an average 2A team in Hickman County.
  13. I believe Goodpasture's schedule will payoff on friday. They have played 3 5A teams, and have faced more size and speed than Camden will have. I have no doubt that a good Camden has a good football team. However if they don't put up more than 14 points, and probably twice that, they don'y have a prayer. My prediction GP 41 CAMDEN 20.
  14. As we have witnessed against DCA, Goodpasture is capable of having a bad game. If they do that from here on out they will be sitting at home. I would feel more confident about this game if the defence was playing better, though the Camden offense didn't exacty set the world on fire against Fairview. Someone earlier referenced Goodpasture's huge linemen. Most of those guys graduated. They are pretty small up front, but are still strong and fast.
  15. Goodpasture needs to find a way to stop the quarterback draw. I think it is a shame the rest of the state won't get to see both of these teams in action. Both would be a difficult matchup for the big, slow west TN teams.
  16. Divepix, that was an excellent synopsis of what to expect for this weeks game. I think it comes down defense. Can GP stop the CPA passing attack? Can CPA stop GP's stable of backs? I think GP will be hungry to avenge the DCA loss, it will also be senior night. I believe we will see GP's best effort to date, if CPA can stop that then more power to them. I was browsing the 2A playoff post and it appears there is a possibility of a rematch in round one.
  17. Another thing to think about is that Goodpasture is coming off a bye week. They may be a little rusty. If DCA can come out to a fast start this could be an interesting game. All things being equal, GP speed will be to much for DCA. GP 42 DCA 21.
  18. I think this game should be a close one. Goodpasture has had a knack for pulling out these type of games, with overtime wins at Ravenwood and Lipscomb. I believe Goodpasture's tough non-region schedule will give them the edge in this one. It sounds like DCA has a very balanced running and passing attack. Anything can happen.
  19. Bulldogs, I got lost in the middle of your post, but I believe you were impying that East Robertson would have beat Goodpasture if not for turnovers. ER did put 22 pts on Goodpastures 2,3, and 4 string Defense. I was at the game, and it was 28-0 after 1st quarter. This game could have been much worse.
  20. How can you classify teams according to talent? Do you have scouts that work for the TSSAA that go to practice and determine what class you should be in based on talent?
  21. Haney, the point of the entire thread is "why isn't Hickman getting respect", the reason is because they don't play tough competition. If and when they do play sombody in the playoffs and they win then they will get some respect. Westview played and beat a 4A team in Henry County. That is why they are ranked where they are. Goodpasture is all ready playing up. They have had class A enrolment figures even before the multipier. My guess is they would probably fair better in 3A than having to face Alcoa every year.
  22. Goodpasture is overated by one spot. Alcoa is king right until someone beats them. Maybe I should have said Westview, Milan, Camden. Lipscomb will name the score against Marshall County. Same as always. What about CPA? Ensworth, ECS, Father Ryan. There are only 4-5 2A teams that could stay on the field with those teams.
  23. Niether Hickman nor Lewis CO. has played anybody. Huntington, Milan, Camden ect... at least have tough region games. GP and CPA have had killer non- region schedules. Goodpasture has 3, count 'em 3 5A opponants not to mention Lipscomb on thier schedule. And CPA's 3 losses have come against D2 teams with a combined 1 loss. CPA is flying under the radar right now because of the 3 losses, but I expect the game against Goodpasture to be knock down drag out. When you play sombody besides a average 3A team or a top 5 1A team, report back. Hickman never got anywhere in 4A, and they won't in 2A.
  24. This just in!!! Alcoa will never lose again!!! I hear the incoming 2nd grade class is amazing!!!
  25. It seems like Goodpasture is getting more first place votes than they were a few weeks ago. I believe the are up to 12 or 13. I am a Goodpasture fan, but I am not dillusional. Alcoa has not lost to another 2A team in 4 years. They should still be number 1 until someone beats them. Alcoa's only loss is to Maryville. CPA is another team that is not ranked in the top 10, but they would destroy most of the teams in the 10. Strength of schedule should be taken more into account. Lewis County??? York??? Smith County??? Who have these teams played?
