This region is crazy! MC beats CW, and Greenbrier beats WHH. What?

This region is wide open this year. I think Springfield is down a little this year, and several teams look to be improved. I can guarantee WHH isn't last!

Just heard they are moving game to Jackson Christian. Anyone confirm?

The "only difference" ??? That's huge...that's why Alcoa, and Maryville can win state championships every freaking year! They never have rebuilding years. Can you imagine if all the best talent in Nashville could choose where they want to go play? Heck even in Robertson County we've had 3 different teams make the championship game in 3 classes in the last 10-15 years. I guess every school is open zoned by your definition, if you don't see a difference I can't help you. I'm done back to the game at hand.

Not the same at all. Nearly all school systems will allow out of county students for a fee, including Metro Nashville. The policy you quoted says students can apply to attend Robertson County schools not Springfield specifically, there are 5 high schools in the county. Students who live in Robertson county have to go where they are zoned, so not open zoned. Blount County school policy, for example, says students can attend the school of their choosing provided administrators sign off, and they provide their own transportation. Robertson, Sumner, Davidson and most other school systems in the area do not allow this. As was stated earlier it takes an act of God for anyone to be granted an out of zone request inside the county. I am happy with the state of Springfield football. Even if they only had 20 kids come out for football, you can bet they would be well coached and play hard. But what the the open zoned schools have is definitely an advantage.

The 3 "dynasty" teams I mentioned, among others, are open zones. Anybody who is willing to make the drive can play. The out of zone "tuition" is minuscule when compared to the private school's 10-20k tuition. In other words you don't have to live there to play there. They can draw on the best players in the area. Not sure about Haywood, but Springfield, and lots of public schools don't have this luxury.

I will be that guy... Schools that have open zoning like Alcoa, Maryville, and Greeneville have a much bigger advantage than any private school that was playing D1 the last 15 years. $500 bucks to go play at Alcoa, sign me up! Yes these programs have built the tradition and are great schools, but that's an advantage that lots of schools don't get. Yes... their fans can be cocky, because the team can back it up. But let's not act like the playing field is even across the board.

No, we're 4A and still alive. Not worried about Alcoa. Though my brother played at Goodpasture so I've seen Alcoa up close and personal a couple of times. Say you guys should play up for a challenge. Alcoa/Greenville might be a good match up

Springfield is the opposite of open zone. They are sending students that live in Springfield out to the county schools. That's another story, and another can of worms.

What was the deal on the final kickoff after the Jackets scored? Radio guy made it sound like NS didn't try to recover it. Did they think it wasn't going 10 yards?

The Jackets will have to play much better on offense to win Friday. I don't see a blowout either way

On another note this has to be the longest thread for a Springfield game this year! There's 7-8 Springfield posters and we have had nobody to talk to most of the year.

You act like Springfield was lucky to win. Sure MC played them tough, but I'm not sure the the Jackets ever trailed, and definitely not in the second half.

Tough non-region schedule pays off in this one. Jackets played 5A/6A non-region games, while SS played 1A/2A/3A. SS may be good on defense, but The Jackets have seen better in Clarksville, and Beech. But...anything can happen.

Come early enough to eat. Springfield has some great non-chain restaurants. The Depot, Public house are upscale. Torino's for good Italian, and the Catfish House for well...catfish.

True. CW was a scrappy team. They held the Jackets several times when they were driving deep in CW territory. Hopefully they pull one off in round 1.

Suprising there is not more chatter considering a region championship is on the line. CW must not have any fans on the T. So those who have watched film or seen them play. What can we expect to see from Creekwood Friday night?

Yes MC was a physical team, but I think the misdirection hurt the Jackets as much as the sheer physicality.

Great game! Kudos to MC! This has to be the best team they have ever had right? Everytime I thought the Jackets were gonna pull away, MC answered. Hayes was injured on the last play of the game, hope he's okay.
