  1. 1. Smyrna 2. Maryville 3. Maplewood 4. Alcoa 5. Independence 6. So. Pittsburg 7. David Lipscomb 8. Fulton 9. Goodpasture 10. McKenzie I really think Smyrnawould handle Maryville this year, too many skill guys. Maplewood impressed me, they looked well coached. Fulton is much better than they played and this ranking is only based on this weekend.
  2. Wishing York the best tonight against a private school from the city. While York may be Livingston Academy's biggest rival you guys are to be commended for having a great team and for playing with class. This is the best team I have personally seen at York. I watched the Dragons defeat us 33-0 and also saw the second round win over Smith County last week. Congratulations to Coach Wright and his staff and the players and fans on the mountain. I just wanted to let you know we may be rivals when we play but many from Hog-Eye will be pulling for you guys tonight.
  3. I hope Cobb goes to Tennessee I have seen him play in person and he is very good. To the guy who says Tennessee is not a upper level team in the SEC- do you realize that a win Saturday puts the Vols in the SEC Title game. That's pretty good company to be in, I think. The Vols have a national championship in the last decade and was so close to playing for another. They are definitely in the hunt every year. Urban Meyer probably wishes he had a chance to play for an SEC title this year, and Saban just lost to LA-MONROE. Kentucky is very good this year as is Vanderbilt it's just that no one wants to believe it. As for Cobb and any player being recruited I just hope they go where they will be happy, because when it's all said and done it goes by way to fast and everyone should enjoy their college years. National Championships, SEC Titles, winning records, all pale compared to just finding the right fit for the individual player. I will never begrudge a kid for going out of state if that's where they feel most comfortable.
  4. In a game no one deserved to lose, Livingston Academy ended their 13 game losing streak with a Josh Huitt 35 yard field goal on the game's last play to defeat Stone Memorial 24-21 on Senior night in Livingston. The win helped the Wildcats avoid their first winless season since 1965. Sophomore runningback Cody Stafford rushed 31 times for 140 yards to lead the attack. Livingston Academy trailed 14-7 at halftime and 21-14 in the fourth quarter before coming back to tie the game with 5:11 left on Brannon McCoin's 3 yard run. The big play in the drive was a 38 yard pass on 3rd and 14 from sophomore McCoin to sophomore Tracy McDonald. After holding the Panthers on downs on a fourth and 3 from the LA 30 The Wildcats took over with 1:50 left and marched to the Panther 18 before calling their last timeout with 2.7 seconds remaining. Huitt made the kick and the players went wild as the final horn sounded. LA's seniors, Linebacker Gary Massengille, Tackle John Williford, Cornerback Jonathan Sullivan, Defensive Tackle Cody Adkins, and injured Running back Steven Morgan won in their final home game of their careers. It was Livingston Academy's first win over a 3-A school since winning the state championship game in 2005 over David Lipscomb. The Wildcats are 1-8, 1-5 in Region play while Stone Memorial falls to 1-8, 0-6 in Region play.

  6. Livingston Academy JV completed thier JV season with a 24-14 win over White County Monday night. After an 0-3 start the JV then won 3 straight to finish 3-3. The 3 straight wins came over Monterey 24-8, York 30-14 and White County and in all 3 the Cats subbed early and often.
  7. I don't think Stone fans were disrespecting LA. It was the Bledsoe County fans and their fueding with Stone Memorial. My hope is that Livingston Academy stays out of that feud and doesn't cast stones at anyone else. Both LA and Stone need a win and this week gives both a chance. It should be an exciting game. Region 2-3A is a tough region and anyone who doesn't think so doesn't play in it. Can Stone and LA compete? Of course they can , LA won the state title in '05 and many want to quickly forget. The thing is rural schools sometimes have to rebuild and LA is rebuilding and Stone being a new school has to build from the ground up. This is a big game for both teams and will make a good game for WCTE Game of the Week in the Upper Cumberland.
  8. These are kids we are talking about. Let's show them ALL some respect. No one wants to be 0-7 but when you are you have two choices, (1) quit, or (2) keep your wits and work hard to get better. I have every confidence these players will choose the second one. Will you?
  9. Are you kidding me? LA plays hard but certainly are no cheap shot artists. About A-E: Why not teach some class to these kids that play there? They cuss their opponets during pre game, stomp on the opposing team's emblem, and take their share of cheap shots (crackback blocks into the backs of the oppostion)and love running the score up whenever they can (69-0 in '06). Is this how we expect to teach kids to be productive citizens when they graduate? I understand you being upset with a kid getting hurt but making a cheap shot charge is unfair and incorrect. I hate it when any player is injured in any game but it is a contact sport and injuries are part of the game. A-E has loads of talent and I wish you guys the best, but others would respect you more if you won with class. ( I know others would probably respect us more if we just won at all, being "o-for" is not much fun.)
  10. Since no ones wants to address it. The team played freshmen and sophomores in the latest JV games and since most of the starters are sophomores some of them played. The point is LA's sophomores match up pretty good with everyone else's sophomores in the JV games and not so well against other team's seniors on Friday night. Is it not fair to allow the sophomores to play against other sophomores, is that somehow cheating? I don't think so. The confidence gained by playing people your own age is priceless, especially when you win going away!
  11. By the way 1995- 2006 the record offically is LA 11 York 1. York's win came in 2001.
  12. The series is a good one. I know York won in 1972 28-14 Owens ran for four scores,in 1973 LA won 24-0 and in 1974 LA won 47-14 and the teams did not play in 1975. In 1981 the Cats won 48-28 McCoin threw for a school record 6 TDs and 446 yards. In 1982 York won twice once in the Chestnut Bowl to end the season. It has been a back and forth series. The current streak starting in 1995 has seen LA win the lion's share, however York has a great team this season as evident by their win over Smith County last week. Funy thing I've found about this long series is that while in school the kids want to beat the other so bad but then later in life they tend to intermingle and become the best of friends. It is a great rivalry because it is between kids who for the most part who are raised alike. Sportsmanship is the name of the game. Get after it 100 mph on the field and shake hands afterwards and wish everybody well. I may be different from most LA fans but I'd love to see York or Smith County raise a gold ball someday. Of course I'd love to see the Cats get a second one as well. We are all from the Upper Cumberland and we all have a chip on our shoulders, real or imagined, that other parts of the state don't respect us. The way I see it let's pull for each other when we play teams from somewhere else.
  13. He was certainly a great football player and one can only hope eventually he will recover and continue to be able to play the game of football, although that is not the most important thing at this point. Good luck to the Irish the rest of the way.
  14. All of the Livingston Academy football family sends our prayers out to Zak Tait and his family after his serious injury suffered in tonight's LA- Knox Catholic game. The injury puts the game of football in prospective and we certainly wish him the best as he recovers from his injury. It was a hard fought contest won by the superior team but all of that pales in comparison to an injury like this. Everyone please be mindful of this young man and his family during the days ahead.
