The pirates will have their hands full with the warriors on opening night. The warriors should come to town fired up and ready play hard. The Pirates will be hard for the warriors to control.

Hey Commander, I was surprised to read this thread and find out you were one of the guys David and I were chatting with. It is a small world! Daniel has a great family and David is a top notch kid. I don't post much due to my working out of town. The kids call me PaPa Stone. I have a son who coaches and I regularly help him with various things like, carrying the kids to basketball games and sitting in for him if he gets ejected. HaHa, 1 time so-far! David has a couple of younger brothers. 1 played on the jr. high team with my oldest grandson that went undefeated for the second year. The Pirates were arguebly unstoppable friday. The 2008 team has plenty of talent and should be very good next season. The SP folks think David will be a top notch leader. David had some problems with injuries and that has kept him from getting more attention. Hey, he is one that leads by example and doesn't say very much. Watch for him next season along with his other returning running mates. I am sure all the SP posters appreciate your kind words about the Pirates. This is a great post. This pirate team was very good and their weakness would have been the defense. The 94 team and the 99 team both had better defenses. We will always be in some disagreement over which is the best.

My thoughts about this repeat business, the team & fans should enjoy this teams success for a while. However, the coaches and team will start preparing for next year after the down period. A month or so? As for a repeat, a lot of players have to answer the call of the challenge. IMO, great football powers such as Maryville will turn their thoughts toward next season and a repeat long before the rest of the pack.

All who witnessed this pirate team play will always remember them as a team that was possibly the most exciting team to ever wear the orange & black. Congradulations on a perfect season. For the seniors who have worn the pirate uniform for the last time, you have set the bar high for next years team and senior group.

McKenzie is obviously a good team. If they were not a good team then they would not be in the title game. I know for a fact the SP coaches and players have alot of respect for them.

The excitement and tension around our town is rising more and more. SP will bring home the gold ball on Friday. These kids are on a mission and I expect them to finish it.

Zone, I didn't remember the warriors BB championship. I know they have always had good baseball teams.

I travel alot out of town. I missed most of last season while working up north. The year before I was in the New Orleans area working Katrina. I have to call the boys to keep updated. Matt will be with me and the other one with the team. Maybe we'll get some time to chatt in Murfreesboro. I hope to go to the hospitality area, hopefully I still have some pull with that. I was able to talk with Clint Saterfield last year for a long time. He is a great coach and enjoyed talking about the past games between our programs. I even ran into coach Stewart from Jasper at that thing. It was great to meet coaches from all over the state. PLAYERS ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF THIS WEEK.

I agree the defense has been some what ignored this year. The SP followers know who the guys are that rage war every week. I personally think a hit/stick is as appreciated as a long run or pass reception. The defensive players know what and how to bring the SP following to their feet. I can vividly remember a collision at Grundy County between Jerry Bryant (IMO the best RB ever to wear the Grundy uniform) and So. Pitt. had a hard nosed LB Curtis Kelly. The crowd on both sides went wild. That's how defensive players bring on the high praise. I am proud of these players for setting their goals way back to compete for a State Title. I know, their a lot of proud dads. I was lucky enough to have both sons play on a championship team and go out on top. It is a proud moment but yet sad to see those days coming to the end on the journey. For the dads out there with seniors enjoy every second this week.

Some others have asked me if I was you. You must have a better pain thresh hold than me. The Pirates played tough last night against a really good Hampton team. It was good to see so many fans out to support the Pirates and the Hampton fans also turned out in force. For the bulldogs you earned a lot of respect and played hard, congrats on a great season. For the Pirates you have the last stumbling block to avoid to reach the ulitimate goal. I wouldn't under estimate coach Saterfield's team. So.Pitts. is looking forward to playing you guys from that region. Sounds as if the Pirates will get to play several if all goes as exspected. Tenn was only lucking Saturday. I don't think they can win out playing football the way they are playing.

I also thought SC could make the playoffs from what the SC coach said in the paper. I agree with OP no team should make the playoffs with a 2-8 record. I think jasper could slip up on some teams if they can regain the fight.

I agree with you, Temple does not stand a chance. The young guys should get plenty of playing time. The freshman really need some experience.
