  1. Osunut is correct in his post above, but I follow Powell and am a Powell fan of sorts since they're in District 3AAA. I don't get where you say I was beating my chest. I just disputed and still dispute based on objective criteria that Powell's district was weak. I also said Powell will beat THS, which is my opinion. I have my statistics and you have your math-challenged statistics. Simple enough for even a moron to understand.
  2. 6A Quarterfinal picks: Maryville over Dobyns-Bennett, 42-27 Siegel over Riverdale, 28-24 Brentwood over Mt. Juliet, 21-17 Whitehaven over Germantown, 48-17 5A Quarterfinal picks: Powell over Tennessee, 28-14 Ooltewah over Columbia, 35-17 Beech over Northeast, 45-28 Ridgeway over Jackson North Side, 24-20
  3. Tennessee got monkey hammered by DB, Science Hill and Daniel Boone, which loss you admittedly avenged in the playoffs. The Jeff County loss wasn't a true monkey hammering but still a good sized spread. Powell's 11-1 record speaks for itself, which was what I was really pointing out to the Viking Father when he was comparing records. And District 3AAA wasn't nearly as weak as some think. It wasn't brutal, but not weak. Anyhow, Powell I believe will win this one by two touchdowns.
  4. Good grief! Have you gone commie? Is the profit motive somehow now suspect in CoachTdom too? And is it too much to believe that he'd like to make an honest buck whilst simultaneously advancing the interests of high school sports generally?
  5. From what I know from an absolute talent standpoint I'd say they should be about on par with this year. They get their very good QB back next year but lose some other key players. Nothing like last year's losses of McPhethridge, Mobley and a bunch of linemen though. The big fly in the ointment however is that they have to move to 6A -- they'll be the smallest 6A in the state.
  6. Indeed. I just Powell can get back to the finals like last year. Hate the Patriots aren't still in it.
  7. Agreed, HTV. By the way, good luck to "Knox Powell" this Friday!
  8. It's nice to dream. As for Powell's record, the difference is that Powell didn't get hammered by the strong teams it played.
  9. What a great kid! Just a sophomore if I'm not mistaken. Hope everything's alright.
  10. Sad to see Normand and Hall and others hang it up in high school football. What competitors!
  11. Hey, way to represent 3-AAA Wildcats!! I understand that moral victories count for little but the Wildcats were in the game and played the Rebels tough. Great job!
  12. I'll be dog gone some more: Ooltewah that Anderson County went up on 14-0 but lost to because of injury to their QB and some other key players is right now owning Lenoir City 21-7! Another example why D3AAA wasn't so weak as all the commentators said.
  13. Powell punts for the first time with 8:29 left in the third quarter. Yes, West has turned the ball over but Powell has something to do with that! Owenby looks very good.
  14. Well I'll be dog gone, all the naysayers say District 3AAA is weak and yet, and yet, and yet, here we are with Powell owning West and Oak Ridge playing the Rebels close at least for one half in each of those games. What be done gives? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
  15. Oops! I hadn't realized that! Now I'm ashamed!!
  16. Dang, you really got me there, peppy! I want to be on a Maryville board! I mean, I've been a member of CoachT for what, six years now and I've got what, 2,628 posts to my name? Yeah...............uh, no, that's you. Sorry. I have a little over 160. Got messed up there, sorry. And, I changed my mind about responding to MLREB. Really, I was just trying not to hijack the thread as some of the other posters said they wanted to get back to the game. Too, I kinda just meant I was done with you and the big fat V on your forehead. But, alas, I simply can't help myself sometimes when it comes to such low hanging fruit, particularly you, peppy. It's like that feeling you get when you see a big fat fastball that the pitcher shouldn't have thrown with that count, and it's about waist high, and you then smack it out of the park -- which reminds me, just why do you have such a victim mentality, peppy? Were you a pitcher?
  17. It doesn't suit me at all. Not even a little bit. Not until OR has an opportunity to move up and chooses not to will there be a correlation. Moreover, no one has yet to subject OR to all those torturous, inhumane, gross and unjust verbal barbs and won't until it starts dominating in 5A (which might happen pretty quickly though). BTW, I don't blame Maryville for not moving up. What I find humorous and worthy of ridicule is the victim mentality discussed previously.
  18. Bingo!! That's why it's so gosh-darned bizarre that, after all that winning, you pass yourself off as a victim, having, as you said, gone through such trying times and all what with those mean old verbal jabs from the big boys. Go figure. Anyhow, I won't respond further (ha, you get the last word) because it just wouldn't be fair, not to mention that I'm woefully off topic.
  19. I just said that I'm not particularly a Powell fan. I'm a high school football fan with a particular affinity for District 3AAA. Not ashamed of any team, however. That's not to say I don't like the Panthers. Au contraire, I rooted for them to win state last year. And indeed, I like Maryville too. I tend to think I'll be smacking the Blackhaven Senator around quite soon, which means at the very least that I foresee a Maryville win against OR. It's just that you (and I mean specifically, you, Pepvol) wear that V for victim so prominently on your forehead I just can't help myself sometimes. But I still enjoy your posts and lurking on the Maryville threads all year long.
  20. Not really, but I have been accused of much worse!
