great post!! None of these programs will reach the level of sucess that they enjoyed while those coaches were there. Parents are allowed to be envovled with coaching, but coaches aren't allowed to be parents.

And 98% of the stats are padded anyway!!!!!!!

Because only a few of the aau programs are legit. Most are coached by parents or wanna be's who only is in it for ego's. Find a legit program and the coach will be supportive.

Somebody will have to come to bradley and win at sub-state to go to the show. my bet is that will not happen!!!

Bradley county has shot itself in the foot. Led by the director of schools, Bob Taylor, and his yes men! He has fired at least 4 coaches during his tenure. The number 1 priority with him is parent satisfaction. He hasn't a clue to what he is doing in atheletics. The only person who will get the job at Bradley is one who will be a yes man, and be parent friendly. REGARDLESS of the situation. The little "dictator" has ruined atheletics at Bradley. There will not be any established coach interested as long as this continues. And Taylor has a contract through 2007. So dont look for any improvements in Bradley county. Only firings!!

WV has a quality team in our area regardless of classification. If they were in AAA, they would have as good a chance in district and region playoffs as anybody else. But they certainly would not be as much a favorite as they are in their league. They are head and shoulders above anybody else in AA in our area. They have AAA pitching (for our area) An above average catcher, average infield, and a good outfield. With the pitching and catching they will do well in their league. Their hitting is suspect against quality pitching. Quite a few slow bats, but do have a couple who can hit the quality pitching. The coaching is good and can overcome facing a quality pitcher because they can and will manufactor runs. They should be going to memphis and once you get there, anything can happen.

I still dont understand the LOGIC behind the rule. The only thing that can happen is the batter who struck out, has yet a chance to reach base. It does help to ensure a good clean play. But only the one who has already struck out, can benifit.

chattanooga area teams are very weak again this year. McCallie is a solid team. Baylor will become solid. But those mentioned, as teams wv beat, are at best average on state level. But 15-0 looks good! They have good chance at the AA level of going to memphis.

The Koenemann kid from Seymour has real talent. He also has a great coach who can help him reach his potential in Scott Norman. I look for great things with that combination.

The cold hard facts is White Staion has won the state 4 out of the last 5 years. Bradley has been to the state 4 out of the last 5 years. White Station has beaten Bradley 3 of these years. Clearly, these two teams have been the class of all Tennessee teams for the past 5 years. Just as clearly, White Station has been the best. This is one Bradley fan who tips his hat to White Station.

Coach Green is young and still finding his way. The people at cleveland realize this. They also realize his potential of becoming an outstanding coach. They will stand behind him and also mold his behavior at the same time. To all ooltewah fans, I remember 10 or 12 years ago watching Ron Baker beat the scorers table almost to pieces when Tyner drove the length of the floor to win a semifinal game with 5 secs remaining by one. Baker went ballistic! And Ron Baker is the best in the business. Dont be quick to judge a coaches behavior. Most have unbelievable passion for the game. In the heat of the battle a few lose their cool and better judgement. Its natural. It just takes a while to overcome emotions during the heat of the battle.

Yes it was an upset. No doubt about it. But the real upset is for the FEW parents who have worked hard to remove Harlowe. The man is simply the best. The players who showed the most heart out there were playing not only for their team, but for their coach. They know what is at stake here. They refused to lose for their coach.

You had a good coach. And a great man in David Lewis. He was run off in order to be replaced by the current coach. You took a step back in both areas. Everyone envolved should be ashamed. The rumor that he is going to Knoxville is just a ploy. The real rumor is he wants another basketball job in the county. The real tragedy would be if he succeeds in yet another coup.

Great post phil.....With apoligies to the great GOMAB, that is what AAU is all about....scoring a hundred a game, one on one, etc. High school ball is, in most cases, TEAM oriented. Some coaches, who have been around awhile, would rather their kids not even play AAU because of this. High school coaches have to reprogram the players to play the proper style of basketball. All of the post season awards; all-state, district, region, Mr. basketball, etc. is based on the almighty stats. I guess its just the nature of the business, but you are EXACTLY right. I could write a novel on this subject because it is in a nutshell, what is a big part of whats wrong in high school atheletics in general. To many people, fans and players alike, dont respect the game or the teamwork that is neccessary to obtain the goal.

Were getting off-topic here. This is not Coach Greens mess. He is doing a good job. Needs to keep himself in the game though. This will come as he gets older. Then he has a chance to become an outstanding coach.

Luckyday, the only way your coach will "outcoach" anybody is if he goes back to middle school! Its where he belongs anyway!! He shouldn't even be mentioned with the likes of Baker!

Good coaches are a dying breed! Only a handfull are left. The ones who know the game, TEACH the game, and DEMAND that it be played that way, don't have the freedom to do so anymore. Feelings get hurt, parents get upset, and then they demand that something be done with the coach. The "old-school" coaches are the best, but in todays society, they can not last!!!

Bradley will have to play better than they have been. Seems like they are playing uninspired. But this is the kind of game that will inspire them. There maybe a hard lesson here for Bradley. Its very hard to just push a button and play as a team very well. But dont bet against them!!!
