  1. Harriman had two girls chosen on the all region team, not 3. Not saying it's right, just getting facts right. They did have three chosen after the district tourney, which was at least one too many. Since the Morgan County guy says he had nothing to do with it, the team was chosen by a brand new writer at the Roane County paper. I saw him give the list to the table after the game. That's why it wasn't done well. Don't know why the hate for Harriman folks running a tourney. That's not an easy thing to do, especially with all the weather issues they dealt with. Most schools would prefer not to deal with the hassle.
  2. Easy on the administration at Harriman High School. Those all-tourney teams are chosen by the local newspaper people, NOT anyone at the host school. I'm a Harriman fan and agree that the choices were not well done but want to make sure you all place the blame in the right direction. Our school does a nice job hosting this tournament and doesn't deserve to be bashed for the tournament team picks. Contact the sports guys at the Morgan County News and the Roane County News with your complaints.
  3. Was at game. Two teams that don't appear very strong this year but happy our boys won. Proud of them for sticking it out after a bad first half
  4. Since you brought it up, when did your future stars get some reps? This isn't sour grapes and I'll admit you kicked our butts, but you scored your last touchdown on your last offensive series by throwing deep balls to your best player against our JV defense and then celebrating like you had won the Super Bowl. Guess Wartburg has already forgotten what it's like to have someone rub their noses in it. I don't believe Harriman has ever done that to them (but sure could have).
  5. Until this past year, many folks would have said the same thing about playing OS. Do you know that Tapp has turned down OS in the past? I'm guessing OS didn't want any part of Harriman over the last few years. It's nice to see the OS program back on the right track. In closing, Tapp is the one that put these jamboree matchups together. If he was afraid to play OS, it wouldn't be happening in the jamboree.
  6. I'm confused why Tellico feels there is bad blood between them and Harriman. I've never heard anyone in Harriman say they felt that way. They've only played once in recent memory and Harriman won a close, hard-fought contest over a Tellico team that was probably better then them but I don't remember anything happening that made the contest "heated". Seems to me that respect exists on this side and am not sure why there isn't any on your side.
  7. These matchups are great! Great way to kickoff the 2010 football season. Oneida and Rockwood should be fun to see how both teams will do since losing a lot of seniors last year OS and Harriman.. always a great way to kick off a season. I would almost be willing to bet both teams and coaches will treat that as more important than week 1. Well at least the communities will. I can't wait for the kickoff of the 2010 football season to get under way. Good Luck to ALL Roane County teams in 2010! I can guarantee that playing OS in a glorified scrimmage will not even come close to being as important to the Harriman community as their week 1 game against Kingston. The jamboree will mean nothing to HHS except a chance to help get themselves better for the regular season. OS will provide a tough opponent to help HHS get better for a quarter and then the JV kids will probably finish it off.
  8. Harriman defeated Cloudland and Oliver Springs beat Hampton to advance
  9. Rather tourney MVP have heard rumors that Cloudland cannot host substate. anyone know if that's true?
  10. Harriman wins by double digits
  11. Blue Devils win by double digits
  12. orr, harriman is not impressive at all, really thought they would be tougher their kids are not well conditioned and are poorly coached, lot of tallent.inman very nice player if he gets hurt harriman is in lots of trouble, heard someone say #51 is D-1 prospect-NOT even close. We have the majority of our players 15 yr old and under and in the second half they wore harriman out,and by the way we were poorly coached also, you dont direct snap with 3 mins left in your own territory with the lead, youve given up 15 yrds of offense in second half, punt and play defense, come on,if im wrong about harriman, then our young team is coming around. This is a game we needed to win!PROTECT THE FOOTBALL!I hope our coaches learned a few things from this loss.Harriman has a lot of potential but like last year the coaching is killing them! Skippy, You are entitiled to your own opinion on the Devils coaching but it's not fair for you to come on here and say a team is poorly coached unless you can give some good reasons. Did they look unorganized, have lots of penalties, have a lack of discipline, run their mouths, get personal fouls, etc., etc.? Or is it that you just disagree with the coach's choice to run a safe, conservative offense? The answer to the first question is no in all cases. There is a big difference between being poorly coached and someone's disagreement with coaching philosophies. You talk about how young your team is. Our team lost just as much or more to graduation last year as you did. I believe we start 4 sophs on offense and 6 on defense. Where is all this "talent" on the HH team you speak of as such a top scout? Other than inman, who else did you see that makes you think our team is any more talented than yours? 51 is just a big kid, that can move, who is a junior not old enough to drive yet. That's why he's got a chance to play D-1. I've seen three of their games this year. I don't see all this talent that you speak of that makes things sound like we should be blowing people out. Funny, but sad, that you then call out your coach as well. How about giving respect to hard working people that are working with kids every day for little pay while you are sitting on your couch winning video games and thinking you are the greatest coach ever? By the way, yes, I am the parent of a player so your comments hit a nerve. I also know a couple of the coaches well and you won't find a better man than Coach Tapp. Your comments in a public forum are not fair to him.
  13. I won't argue with anything you said, including your prediction, except to ask that you not judge Harriman by past team unity and work ethic. This Blue Devil team is different. The coaches weeded out the problem children this year and the difference is obvious to anyone who spends any time around this team. They are a great group of kids that work very hard. They may not be as talented as past Harriman teams, and may lose the game to Midway, but they will certainly not be outworked by the Waves. Midway is a group of very disciplined, physical, and hard work ethic brothers that have spent the off season working hard to have a good football season this year. I have never seen the team unity that the boys have this year. They do everything together. Being from Midway its hard for me to give that edge to Harriman because i see what we have everyday. I commend you on having a better unified team this year. I predict this will be a real battle out there Friday night. Midway-30 Harriman-24 That's okay. I wasn't pushing for the edge. I just wanted folks to know that this Harriman team is different than they've seen in the past. They are probably too young to win a ton of ball games but it won't be because of a lack of character and hard work.

  15. Jet Pride was the one saying "shame on Harriman" for not playing OS. That's who my posted was directed to.
  16. Don't ever "shame on " Harriman for their schedule. I don't know about refusing to play OS, but the Class A Blue Devils play against 3A Kingston and 2A Rockwood as in-county games every year. Rockwood is now a district game but it hasn't been that way until this year. If refusing to play OS is true, it sure isn't because they are afraid of losing or they certainly wouldn't be playing Kingston and Rockwood, two traditionally strong programs, every year.
  17. There's a lot of that going on around here. Harriman and Oakdale are 6 miles apart but Oakdale is travelling miles trying to find wins rather than play a natural rival in the same class in front of a good crowd.
  18. "Harrimanboy13", please stop. You are making your school look bad by replying to all this grace garbage. I believe HHS and Coach Tapp would rather have you do your talking on the field by playing well (though I'm guessing you are not a player on the team, they know better than to get on here and talk). Give your opinions on scores if you like but stop the trash talking. Or change your ID so I don't cringe every time I see it.
  19. You are not thinking of the correct Inman. Dimitrique Inman is the good back and he is still at Harriman. Jeff Inman is now at Rockwood. He would have been a backup on offense at HHS...probably would have started on D.
  20. Don't listen to the couple of big mouths that trash talk on here. The real Harriman people respect Oneida and know what a tough game that will be. And...Oneida is not the Devil's homecoming game. Not sure how that one got started.
  21. I don't know who you are "harrimanboy13", but if you are going to make dumb statements like that, please take the harriman out of your signature. I don't want it associated with our Harriman players and coaches. We played well against Kingston but your comment that Sams "stinks" is ridiculous. He's a good football player on both sides of the ball. He'd start for us on both defense and offense if he was here so what you are saying is not very bright. I don't want to see Harriman looked at as "trash-talkers" that say stupid things on here. Our kids are too good for that kind of stuff. ("big-gamer"'s comments don't count, everyone who knows anything on here knows he's just fooling around and shouldn't be taken seriously)
  22. You make the story worse every time you tell it. Kingston only turned over the ball once inside their 20 and that was the fumble around the 5. Harriman had two picks, one was around the Harriman 40 and the other was around the Kingston 40 but returned inside the 15. The other turnover was a fumble by #8 around midfield. I know you are disgusted your team barely scraped by Harriman for a win but maybe you should give the Devils a little credit, too. It was a hard-fought game by both sides and it's time for you to stop making excuses about why the game was close.
  23. True, but I think we'd all rather pick our 11 from a school of 700 and 80 players on the sideline than only have 340 and 45 to choose from. If your reasoning was correct, we should just have one class and one state champion.
  24. You know it's coming, but can your team stop it? We'll find out in a few weeks.
