  1. lol, boo hoo. How many out of state guys were there in the whole tournament? maybe 12? Also, you want to combine Memphis and nashville the two largest cities in the state by a huge amount to compare to Chattanoogas 300,000? Ba ha ha. How about this. Go out and create some interest in your sport, create more teams, get more wrestlers out. If chattanooga can do it then surely you can since your population is 10X Chattanoogas. That would be like a high schooler coming home saying he got beat up by a 6th grader. Im am going to nominate Mr Moon as the cry baby of the year award winner. Look back through his posts. You might be the most negative person in the world. Did region 5 win handily last year? Nope I think not.
  2. Mr Salter, you are correct. I only looked at the first place. I do see an abscence of other Chattanooga teams though. I guess we better get to work. Ive actually been telling everyone the rest of the state is catching up . Maybe now these guys down here will put the pedal to the medal and keep us in first! Do you coach the Murfreesboro group? You guys are impressive . Is that the old Sharpshooters club? You better not be questioning running the satate. I think I saw you up there at the head table rolling your sleeves up and getting to work too. Good job from my perspective. .
  3. Ignore thicks. If its the thicks Ithink it is I know him very well and we all ignore him. He is one of those perpetual whiners. If his boys were in different age groups he would be screaming about having to travel on two different weekends. I do not think the tournament was a trainwreck at all. In fact I was shocked at how well it ran being that big. It basically ran straight through with no down time. It started an hour late and ran over but there is nothing you can do about that when you let people sign up until a day before. Its easy to nit pick things after the fact but given all the circumstances what more could you do? Last year people were griping about traveling two weekends, spending money on hotels, gas and food. Now you guys try and accomodate them and they still gripe but yet I dont see them knocking down the door offfering to help you guys. The two options were having it on two different weekends and forcing evryone to travel or getting a little overcrowded. I think the overcrowded part was better than doing it on two weekends. I left right before it was over but it couldnt have gone much past 8:00 pm. Thats pretty dang good if you ask me to run all age groups in one day and be done by 8:00.
  4. I think one of Humours gripes is that they got smoked by chattanooga and especailly by Mikes Red Raiders. Region 3 won every age group. Way to represent CHATTANOOGA! Team scores: Tots 1. red raiders 109 2.halls 61.5 3.mt juliet 58 4 Rockford 45 5. fighting wolverines bantam 1.red raiders 165 2Murfreesboro Elite 103.5 3.east Ridge 90 4.Mcminn 84 5.Dickson 80.5 midget 1 Red raiders 139.5 2 elite 132.5 3 wave 132.5 4 Knox Youth 113.5 5 heritage 101 novice 1 Red raiders 223.5 2 Murfreesboro elite 177 3 eagle talon 165.5 4 wave 121 5 mt Juliet 93 middle school 1.soddy 212 2. mt juliet 208.5 3. nashville catholic 154.5 4. murfreesboro elite 148.5 5. higher calling 141
  5. Where did this travesty take place? I am appaled they would let a kid sign up late before the brackets are even made. The nerve of those people to let a kid participate in the state tournament after he has practiced for months on end and wrestled in countless matches and sweated and sacrificed. They should have told that little kid to go home and he couldnt participate because it might make a parent mad because her son has an extra kid in his weight class. OBVIOUSLY Im being sarcastic. Are you even sure someone signed up late? how do you know this? There were a lot of kids who werent showing on track that had signed up. There were kids whose credit cards didnt go through but they had signed up. Maybe what you saw was someone bumping up a weight class. No matter what the kid in question is wrestling after working his butt off all year and there is another kid in the weight class so it adds competition. Sounds like a win win situation to me,
  6. No they dont always win. There are a lot of weight classes and age groups so that would be impossible to win them all. I will even go as far as to say a lot of areas are catching up to Chattanooga. It would be disrespectful of the coaches who put in all that hard work and have made great strides in improving there areas not to recognize what they are accomplishing. That being said, I will still wager Chattanooga wins more than anyone else. That is with Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis all having larger populations. I think they keep team standings now so it will be a good gauge to see where everyone stacks up.
  7. Very well put Cje. This sport is special in that it breeds warriors. In todays society thats a rare thing. Everything is about me, me ,me. We have to promote this sport and push to make it better and stronger. Nobody is going to do it for us thats for sure! I applaud whoever made the decision to let these people on the borders join our wrestling community. I can understand some parents crying and whining because unfortunately thats in our dna in todays society but if they would take a step back and look at the big picture it is better for the sport and our state. In the long run this move will pay off by making our kids better with the added competition.
  8. Invasion? How many kids are there from out of state ? I dont really have a dog in the hunt anymore but imho it seems like a lot of crying over a handful of kids who wish to wrestle with Tn as opposed to their state due to their proximty to the Tn communities. Im not sure about the other teams people are talking about but for all practical purposes N. Georgia is part of Chattanooga. Many people who work in Tn live right across the line in ga due to better schools, property values, ectt.. These people support and attend our tournaments, spend money in our community, some of them go to school in Chattanooga. They are much more a part of Chattanooga than they are Atlanta which is where Usa Ga wrestling is centered. I would think Memphis would have the same situation with their Mississippi counterparts right across the line. Its funny everyone is so worked up over this. Its the Chattanooga kids you should be worried about and not the North georgia kids. I bet there isnt more than 1-2 state champions at the most and more than likely 0.
  9. How is it not fair across the state? The Ky kids have the same opportunity as the North Georgia kids. The Va. kids have the same opportunity as the North Georgia kids and the ms kids if there are any have the same opportunity as the Memphis kids. Sounds like its pretty fair across the state. Is your goal not to increase the numbers in Tennessee and make everyone better? Obviously thats not your goal. Your goal seems to be to make sure little Timmy wins the state. Obviously Tennessee's best interest was looked at and thats why this was evidently voted in. I highly doubt Chattanooga made their own rules. If anything the Chattanooga people should be more mad about it than anyone as some of their kids got knocked out by Georgia kids. Maybe you should make your own league like you suggested. One where little Timmy can always win. Leave the real wrestling up to the parts of the state that arent scared of a little competition. You wonder why Chattanooga always wins? Look no further than at your own fears and attitudes and you will find the answer my friend.
  10. Im late to this topic but after reading through the posts I am confused. So your theory is if we have more divisions this creates more wrestlers? Kind of like a field of dreams theme, "build it and they will come"? Where are they coming from? Who will lead them? What about all the programs we have now in dire need of attention and fixing? I think the way to grow wrestling is at the grass roots level. Start more kids clubs. have the kids fall in love with the sport. Have the parents fall in love with the sport. Then when they get to high school they will pressure the schools more to add wrestling or to take it more seriously. The communities will be more supportive. We need some of these experts on coacht to roll up their sleeves and get to work in their communities. Promote the sport, coach a club, recruit 10 year old little Johnny the stud running back to giving wrestling a try . Talk with the middle schools and high schools and see what they need help with. Lets fix what we have before we start thinking bigger is better. Look at the programs that are successful and see what they do differently. Its really quite simple. Their school and communities are supportive of wrestling.
  11. Mr Moon, Im not sure why you are continually dowing Tn wrestling, especially when you dont know what you are talking about. My nephew wrestles for our kids club and every Aau tournament we have attended in Chattanooga uses Track. In fact it has worked flawlessly for the past two years. I can watch his bout numbers, see results, we even keep team scores. You can click on on a team name and see all their results, you can even see statistics. So instead of spouting off some bs you know nothing about why dont you go online and look at the Hixson open,Soddy top 100, Pioneer classic, Valley classic all from this year or check out any tournament from last year in Chattanooga. Dont critisize the whole state when you havent been to any of our tournaments and when the ones you go to are operated by another format . The soddy even has team scores and statistics. I think what is confusing you is that Nashville uses track to sign up but uses another program to run the tournaments. I too have wondered why they dont use track but Im not going to continually put down people who are trying to better the sport in our state and who volunteer their time. You are posting abut wrestling in Georgia all the time and granted they have some great wrestling but what confuses me is why these Chattanooga kids go down there and do well but yet you dont ever come to Chattanooga to wrestle these same kids. IM pretty sure we have some good kids around your sons weight.
  12. From the looks of Baylors recent lineups they have a lot of starters injured. If this holds true at match time I think McCallie wins by 15-20 pts.
  13. Double elimination can be ran at Utc. This decesion was all about money and has nothing to do with whats best for the kids or the sport. The event isnt 50% as exciting in Franklin. The atmosphere just isnt the same.
  14. good job! Nice win at 113 against a quality wrestler
  15. Avoiding Rossi probably didnt help in hindsight. Norstrem at 132 is a 2 or 3 time super 32 placer and fargo greco national champion. Would have had a better shot at beating Rossi and not given up the size difference to a kid who is just as good. Then your next guys would have had a shot instead of being undersized against top kids. Hey, I like the gamble and go for it attitude though. Looks like there were some close matches.
  16. does anybody know for sure. I would like to know how one of Tennessee's best matches up against Brandon. I spoke to a couple of people there and they said Soddy only won one weight class as far as they knew other than what Brandon forfeited? They did say they were watching several matches and could have missed some wins.
  17. What was the Soddy vs Brandon score? I was told they didnt win a match other than forfeits once the match was out of reach. What weights did Collins Hill wrestle jv guys? I was told they inserted one jv guy to wrestle watson and then bumped the next few weights up a weight class but wrestled varsity guys.
  18. Has anyone seen the entry list for 126? WOW! 11 wrestlers ranked in the top 20 in tha nation. 15 wrestlers that have all americaned at Fargo and 7 finalist. 5 previous super 32 finalist. 26 state champions.
  19. I was looking at the super32 wrestlers entries. Most of the top wrestlers are there. Hopefully we will find out where Mr Watson and Robinson fare in this group. What a great tournament to start off the year. I cant think of a more loaded folkstyle tournament.
  20. Is Boone going 138 also? I was told Ward from McCallie and Mosely from Father Ryan are also. If thats true this may be the toughest weight class ever. Lewis Baker Lopez Boone Ward Mosley
  21. What weight is he going? Not that it matters, I dont think anyone in this state can stay on the mat with him.
