check the schedule again. they cancelled both games with Oakland a couple of weeks ago leaving Oakland short on games. Pretty crappy move if you ask me.

I am not sure what you are looking for from a message board. you are going to get some good advice and some bad, but you are on a message board. Noone is going to give a job from a post on CoachT. Unless something has changed recently, school systems cannot hire a teacher on an alternative liscense if any one with a certified liscence applies. This was the state law within the last couple of years. No one is saying you are not qualified by the state to teach, but in order to get a job, no certified teachers can apply for the position. Sometimes smaller counties will slide someone in regardless, but that is usually in a situation where you know someone. If you really want to teach, you need to get fully certified. You can continue to get mad at people that are telling you the truth or you can take what is actually good advice and help yourself. You are taking a big gamble of never getting hired if you don't get certified. Spec Ed is in the most need. History and PE are almost guaranteed to not happen.

Is video still coming? Can't wait to see it. Wasn't at the game, don't care about either team, but would love to know what really happened. Must have been pretty bad, either way.

I think East made a pretty good decision last year, Creech definitely did not deserve that job more than Berquist. What is Creech's resume? What makes him a high school head coaching candidate? Not being negative, just asking because I know nothing about him.

They wouldnt lose any money if they did it MY way. oh, yeah and my way would have Quarters on Wed and Thursday nights. Semis on Saturday, and then Finals the next Saturday. No daytime games. I want the parents and grandparents in the stands without losing part of their paycheck. There would be a lot of money lost in the early rounds. Region tournament would only be one game and no substate. That is quite a few games being lost. I agree with elimination of substate, but I think top two in district should go. How can you not seed district tournament? Does the regular season mean nothing? Why not take top 16 to state after region. Play sweet 16 & elite 8 Friday sat and final 4 and championship next fri sat. Play boys and girls same weekend.

They had their two transfers suspended and lost to Jeff. Basically this years team played that game.

Greeneville missed the Region last year.

Casey Smith and Aaron Wheeler at Morristown East, both are outstanding young players. Also the Brooks kid at Cocke Co., hurt most of year but showed he could be a force early in the season.

Who has Siegel actually played that makes their schedule so tough?

I completely agree. Eliminate substate take the top two from each region and make a 16 team state tournament. I think that would be great. The problem is that the TSSAA is looking to move in the other direction, cutting it down to the final 4 for the state instead of 8. I think a 16 team tournament would be awesome, and it would definetly allow for more opportunities and give more kids the memory of playing in the state tournament.

I agree completely. I think the purpose of these boards should be to celebrate high school athletics, not tear down high school athletes. I commented that I didnt agree with East and Middle during football also. I also understand the frustration with good teams being left home, but that is part of it. What is a possible soultion to that problem? Also if you are not good enough to win your Region or Substate game, wherever it is, are you really deserving of going ot the STATE tournament?

I understand what the world of message boards is and believe me I don't lose any sleep over it. I just remember the days (and Im not that old) when people showed respect to their opponents. Swagger is great and great teams have it, but arrogance gets old. I feel the same way about the East & Middle Tn people during football. As my screen name suggest, I am one that definitely believes anything is possible in a one game winner take all tournament style. It would be nice to root for some of the great Memphis teams at the tournament, but their fans make it awfully hard sometimes. The final 8 is an amazing accomplishment wherever you come from. Good luck to all and I hope the best make it so we can have a great tournament. Whats funny is the ones running their mouth usually never even laced them up.

Memphis has five of the top six spots, what else do you want. Everyone knows how good Memphis bball is, but seriously there are quality teams all across the state and if you are having a great season then you should get some recognition in the polls. Support Memphis, thats great, but it gets old year after year hearing the Memphis people down the rest of the state. If I remember right, Clarkesville NE gave White Station all they wanted last year, didn't win, but definitely had a chance. You people make it sound like Memphis teams win all their state tourny games by 20+ every year. Their is unbelievable talent in Memphis and some great teams, but a little humility would be really refreshing.

Wow you changed opinions quickly. I compliment West, you tell me they are terrible, now they can win it all. I agree with you, by the way. I think anyone CAN win this tournament. Will they who knows, but they are all capable. You also never commented on my statements about East last year, did they not answer the bell, or handle it when push came to shove. When was the last time West made it that far?

With all due respect Hoosier, I don't know what team you are watching. We are not very good. We cannot score. I will say our guys play very hard, but we just cannot shoot the ball consistently. Seymour is not very good. South-Doyle has improved, but they had a long way to go. I agree about East, but that is typical East High. Lots of talent, lots of mouth, not much when push comes to shove. Does anyone know if Gordon is coaching tonight or is he still suspended? Pretty sure East won District, Runner-up Region, and Sub-state appearance last year. I think that is pretty good when push comes to shove. Who was the last IMAC team besides G-ville to do that? Sorry to give West a compliment, but I think they have played better in second half of season. Why was Gordon suspended?

Looks like Sevier Co. and Jeff are running away with it. East is really disappointing. Just don't play very well together. Too much talent to be in middle of pack. Just don't play with same intensity and grit as last years team. Jeff looked really good. Seem to play really well together, continuing run tehy made last year in tourny. West is getting better as is S.Doyle. Seymour and Cherokee seem capable of beating people but not sure tehy are consistent enough to be a real threat.

31 pages and I don't know anything about 7-AAA basketball except that everyone thinks everyone elses coaches suck. Does anyone have anything to say about this years teams. Looks like everyone played well pre-Christmas. Siegel still the favorite? Oakland a darkhorse? LaVergne or Riverdale for real? I am in East and can only hear about this district through this site, so any help would be appreciated.

Don't sell Mo East quite yet. Lot of talent, a lot of young talent, still trying to figure it out. Rememner they are the defending champs. Like I said earlier, don't sleep on Sevier Co., best coach in district hands down. Doesn't have the talent, but wins anyway. Friday will be a big test to see if Cocke's players are better than Seviers coaching.

Is this Region 1 or District 1 thread. If we are talking about Region 1, then Austin Gardner of Morristown East has to be in conversation. Helped lead East to Substate last year and has them out to a great start this year.

Kudos to Siegel on their scheduling. Are the other teams schedules typical or is just a down year? Is this a typical Oakland Schedule? I thought Gallatin, McGavock, and Overton were usually pretty good teams. Ky tournament will have good teams, what about Father Ryan Tournament. Both siegel and Oakland play Inependence. I would think that their schedule is not terribly weak, but once again I only know what I read on Coacht when it comes to Middle Tn.

Gardner is only Senior I can think of for East. Rest are Sophs and Juniors. I think they start 3 sophs a junior and a senior.

Berquist seems to have East playing well. Always tough to win at Cherokee. Will be interesting to see how this team meshes as the year goes on. They look out of sinc at times and great at times, which is to be expected early in the year. Glad Dag got this opportunity, looks like he has picked up right where Wright left off. Watch out for Sevier Co. and the elder Wright in this conference, they don't pass the eye test, but they keep winning.

Just curious, once again know very little about Middle Tn. Does siegel play this tough of a schedule every year? Or is this a very talented team that has scheduled tough (which is smart to do)? In my experience coaches schedule based on talent returning and expectations for program. I doubt Siegel has played this type of schedule before (once again an assumption). Also as stated earlier, both boys and girls coaches have to work on schedule, if girls have higher expectations, the boys may make some concessions to allow them to have tougher games. It's tough to find opponents that are equal for both teams. Just food for thought.
