  1. Excellent post, Puddin. ETSU will not have a football team until after the current prez leaves. A friend of mine on the committee says such. Carter is looking toward a college position and rightly so. The man has talent. Ralph and Scott will help tremendously. The Sullivans are all weak except South which will be strong for another year. Won't get as deep into the playoffs though. #12 is outstanding in my book.
  2. I heard that too WaCo. But the kids won't go to school. The latest newflash says a jail is going to be out back to hold all the drug salesman so they won't have to cross the highway to Carolina Pottery. Seeger could handle them in middle school but his players get to Central and find women, liquor and drugs and football don't hold much interest! Pity the sucker who ends up there.
  3. Jordan is wet behind the ears! My support goes to Hilton. Got Stacy's personality and rapport with the kids. He can get it out of them. Maybe Jordan could be his assistant! The Hawg
  4. You know you been missin me WaCoJaco. lol It was gettin a little deep so I got out my boots and some humor. Course last I heard, Stacy was offered $100,000 a year and a car to go over to the Hill. lol Now if they was to throw in a trip to Hawaii for Mrs. Coach Carter, that offer might fly. Maybe some pearls too. Oh yeah, and before I forget it, for all of you pundits who seems to have the "inside" scoop. If you woke up this morning, it's because Stacy Carter LET you wake up. The Hawg!
  5. I tell you now that Stacy was an Army Ranger and his military disipline is real. Stacy can quell an argument without saying a word. He can bust you in the mouth without clinching a fist. It's not just Stacy that has this ability but it is a man's man. Let me tell you guys something: I heard that before he goes to bed at night, Chuck Norris looks to see if STACY CARTER is under HIS bed! Now that's some kind of adversity right there!
  6. Good analysis relative to the SH hunger. The problem at South (and other Sullivan County high schools) is the urban growth plan for Kingsport and Bristol. South will be at 800 students in 5 years and 600 in ten. East and Central will see similar drops. North may remain stable (and underutilized) because the law does not require cities to clean up their boundaries and Kingsport does not want Bloomingdale and Lynn Garden. Overall, the County will be heading to one consolidated high school located at the Blountville exit on I-81. That is probably ten years out, politically. D-B will grow to 2000+ students and THS will grow to 1600+. Those are simply the planning numbers all the educators are using. South can compete in the next ten years in AA, just not in AAA. If I were the parent of a middle school football player in Sullivan County I would be working the political process (including Phil Roe) to force the TSSAA to reclassify in 3 years instead of 6. Then Central and South could drop D-B (Dobyns-Bennett) and start playing C-D (Chuckey-Doak). Make no mistake, I think there is a good chance SC will stay. If SH does not hire him they will hire Witten from Betsy. Carter will continue to be very successful if he and the Rebels can drop to AA. They just need to stay out of the same subdivision as Alcoa. This is probably the most logical and statictically correct post I have seen on this thread. Annexation will rip athletic programs apart in the County as it has done at in the North Zone. I have heard nothing of SC leaving but should he decide to do that, IMO, Hunter Jordan would not make a good replacement. His expertise is as an assistant until he gets more experience under his belt. Being a Middle School Head Coach does not a High School Head Coach make. It's an entirely different playing field. My vote would go for either Scott Nelson who needs to get out of the Central toilet bowl or perhaps Ralph Nelson. Two good alums ready for the call. Both outstanding young men like SC. Time will tell. There are talentd young men coming up along with #12 and #44 but depth has not been cultivated. You can't play the same 10-15 both sides and expect the depth to come.
  7. Winners are being named right now streaming live on internet. They are on Class 2A.
  8. I think Morgan is pullin for an injury free game and the Red Rebels!!! I don't know who he's pullin for in the bowl game with U.T. and Wisconsin though. StarsnBars, It's been a real pleasure chatting with you on these boards the last few weeks. You show a class in your posts that many would do well to replicate. We are praying for Morgan and hope he heals up nicely. You keep us posted on his progess if you have time. I hope Morgan's pulling for Wisconsin. UT and that Fulmer dude give me the creeps. Go BADGERS! PS........Food and accomodations in Mairvul were exceptional.
  9. Rebmom4life, This was a most touching post from an obviously dedicated and loving mom. I called my wife over to read this one and even she teared up at your writings. It's parents everywhere like you who help mold these young men into productive citizens of tomorrow. You have made a lot of memories as your son has and you also have made life-long friends that will surround you the rest of your life. This is just the beginning of another chapter in your son's life. It too will be enjoyable even though you will be a little more removed from the scenes to come. Sounds like you threw in and worked your butt off as most dedicated parents do. That's why the Coaching staff really appreciates people like you. You can take care of the little things and they can get to the business of coaching. This has been an outstanding time for the South Football team and these young men. For many, it will be a once in a lifetime experience. Aren't you glad you were along for the ride. My hat is off to you dear mom and this old coach's heart aches for the young men who finished their last game. It is truly an emotional moment in their lives. Reality is about to set it and we all know that requires a lot from these young men. They have developed a rapport with the coaches that will carry them through the ups and downs of their lives. "To whom much is given, much is expected" When your son goes on out there in life and begins to give back to the community and to his family (as I expect he already is doing in some ways) you will know he has reached his final touchdown. God bless you "MOM."
  10. As many others have said, this is the last post for me before game time. Leaving my employment around noon to pick up mama and head down the interstate. God be with all fans and players and parents as they make the drive down today. I, like 83Rebel, am a bit melancholy at the predictions but I know it CAN be done. South Rebels, BELIEVE TO ACHIEVE! No matter what the outcome, all are winners in my book. Not too many have mentioned Coach Carter but he too is an outstanding young man. Good Christian morals and values and a great leader for our young men. He's impacting our men at South for the rest of their lives. I too have enjoyed this post and am glad it was started.
  11. IMO, Phillips is like a high school version of Tim Tebow. Great kid, double threat, outstanding athlete. Kitzmiller has hands like magnets. Fast as lightening too. Nickname is KK but I think it should be THE KK.
  12. Coach Rider at Volunteer is a class act boys! Comes from good football stock, has breathed life and fire back into the falcons and is on the move with his team. Fan support is great, enthusiasm is back up and most importantly, the kids have confidence in themselves. I for one think it's about time that the falcons thought positive about themselves. My vote goes for this turn-around-Rider!
  13. Remember brothers, any team can be beaten on any given day. And that's the truth!!!!
  14. Just wanted to drop by and wish all you Bulldogs and fans safe passage to your next ticket and also wanted to heap a ton of good luck wishes from the folks in the Sullivan South Zone. We're pullin for you brothers! Go DAWGS!
  15. Once of the most mature, outstanding, intelligent posts I have read. Kudos sir.
  16. I appreciate your kind words but at the time I began that missive, I was relatively new to the board. After some wise counsel from 83SouthRebel I decided to suspend the posting that I had prepared. He aluded to the fact that many would attack as he had been a poster for some time and knew how things went. Even at my age, I know when to listen to the younger men who've been around this type of thing for some time. I have now been posting a little longer and have found the wise words of 83SouthRebel to ring true. Perhaps after the fact I shall opine with a Rebel poem but for now, it is safely packed away in my desk drawer. Much like another poster said, my work keeps me from posting and reading as I would like to. I'm drawn to CoachT for the same reasons as many of you, to see outstanding young men and Coaches lifted up in discussions that lend learning to all. Again, my thanks for your encouragement but at this juncture will hold off on any further poetry until the time is right. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> And the name is Hog on Ice.............hogonice.
  17. I'd be interested in seeing your stats, Papa. Since my "real" job sort of involves stats here at the workplace, I'd like to see the research you been doing and your prognostications. Thought I'd throw in a 2 dollar word. 83Rebel, and JDRebel, I'd also like to see what you guys are thinking today about the game. I see you are keeping a low profile today. Personally, I'd like to see the posts take a more positive turn toward discussing some football myself. I'm not interested in people's heritage right now. Let's talk football!
  18. Very well put Rebelmom, very well put. Kudos to you. What a kid!
  19. Lord have mercy you are the most entertaining poster on this thread. I am still laughin but I'll tell you one thing, the personal note brought a whole bunch of goose bumps on my old wore down body. I've heard about the great leadership qualities of young Mr. Morgan Edwards. He can sure far up a crowd and gets the players playin their best too. I appreciate your thoughtful inclusion of that personal information. I hope everyone prays for Morgan and for safe play on both sides. When push comes to shove, football is preparin these young men for the battles of life. Some of their battles will be most difficult and they will remember when they gave their all for their school, coach, and community, and as 2000Rebel81 said, they'll notch up their bootstraps and tackle the task at hand. God bless you sir for your friendly nature and humble posts. Just found this on tricitiessports.com and thought it most appropriate. ONE SOUTH SENIOR WON'T MAKE TRIP TO MARYVILLE Morgan Edwards, who has missed all of his senior season due to an illness that was first diagnosed just after the 2006 season, participated in his final game last Friday. While Edwards can't play, he was still elected as a team captain and has led the Rebels on the field just before every game this season. Edwards is scheduled for a planned surgery on Thursday that could be the last step of his long recovery process. "My teammates have meant everything and done everything for me this year," said Edwards. "They voted me as a team captain, Chris [Collins] wore my jeresey [#30 in final regular season home game] and they won another conference championship. I just want one more thing - a state championship ring."
  20. After I read your post sir, I stood up and saluted you! This was a goodn. I hope many of the current Rebel Players read this and take it all in Somebody said that Mairvul puts their pants on the same way as the South Crew Do and that is most correct. I liked your motivation toward the end there. Coming from a Southern Brother, it inspired even me! There's more than Curt on the team but just let all these posters think he's the only one. Just like a little ole junkyard dog, some of them others gonna come up to haunt the Red Rebels. I pray for safety for all the athletes and staff. As my wife says, don't let that baby face of Coach Carter fool you. He comes right from the trenches himself so he's been there and done that. I'd like to add that as a Rebel supporter, I appreciate all the kind words from Hawkins County, Hampton and all the other well wishers. Makes this old reciever proud to hear it comin to the young fellers. There's some good posters who are knowledgeable but then there's the...............well, never mind. JDRebel, 83SouthRebel, punkinhaid, itstartshereman, and Mama Rebel, you all have a safe trip down. Me and Mama will be there with bells on. And I like what that poster from Hampton said..........git--er--done!
  21. Hey JDReb, StarsnBArs has recommended some fine eatin esatblishments in Mairvul as he so appropriately calls it and he even recommended a motel for mama and me so you might look at some more threads where he posts or ask him on here. He seems to have some good info. I done told 83Rebel to go get him some hot pockets daggone it I mean hot hands and some of that high dollar underarmor stuff and he's set for the game. It's gonna be a goodn for sure. Liked your humor about a "rebel" winnin it. Yeah, since ain't nobody playin 'cept the Rebels. You are one sharpe tool in the shed thar. Hope you and yours had a great Turkey Day and are ready for some football. I hear Bochepus a singin it now!!!!
  22. Starsnbars, I sure appreciate your recommendation of the luxurious accomodations at the Shamrock. I"ll get mama to google it and see what's up. I get a kick outa your posts too. My ex wife was an English teacher and I can see that school marm just a spinnin if she could read your posts! They are outstanding. Now to Reb425. I must add another name to that #52 you mentioned. I don't know the young lad's name #52 but he's a go getter. I'll tell you anothern to add to that "open up a can of whup butt on people" is that Hunter Beedle kid. He's a dagone beast! That kid would skeer me to pass him in the halls thar at school! Sheweeeeeeeeee. They's a lot of beasts on that Rebel O and D that don't get the mention but they're in them trenches all the time a diggin it out for Curt. Personally, I think Seth Johnson has really come through for the Rebs this year. Great kid too. Now 83Reb, go on out to the huntin section at Walmart and get you some of them hot pockets, nah wait a minute, that's food, them hot hands, and that'll carry right on where your underoos leave off. Can't wait to see the chat this week on this board. It's gonna be a hootananny.
  23. Too bad we ain't got the "mercy" rule on this board! Or too bad this ain't Survivor so we could vote you OFF the island. Or wuz you ever ON the island? You need to get your flute fixed and practice.
  24. Hey 83SouthReb, didn't get to post to you before the game but I'd done gone over to the Sportin Goods store last week for my UnderArmor too. I saw the picture and thought I'd bring back some high school memories of my physique. Heck, after all that turkey and stuffin I put away, seems I had more flesh to compress in my cold gear than I'd remembered from that Junior year! I have developed a few more "muscles." All that said, doggone I still stayed warm with all that South Rebel action going on! Only thing was, Curt had to score about 3 tds before they'd count one. What's up with that blasted new rule? Score 3 count 1. I have to agree with you brother on your comment about that panther dude or dudette whichever. He certainly seems to have an opinion and you know what opinions are compared to. Too bad folks ain't positive on all these young men suitin up and going to battle for their schools. Maybe his flute is tore up. Stuff happens I guess. To the mighty Rebels, you got your new task at hand and all of Pactolus is behind you. You got a lot of folks behind you from all teams especially them Hampton Bulldogs. Now there's some good football men thar. Don't listen to crap, just listen to your coaches. Remember what a buddy of mine at DB says............."any team can be beat on any given day."............Mama done lookin to book me a hotel room down thar in Marivul or however they say it. I'll be there in my Under Armor Cold Compression Gear a rootin you on. OH and yeah remember this........it ain't the size of the Rebel in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the Rebel that counts. Go South Rebels.
  25. Thanks JD! Sheweeeeeee. I had to read about 15 pages to find your comment. I go out to buy a turkey with the little wife and come back and find all of this stuff! My head is spinning and you can imagine how it looks when a pig's head is doing a 360. Cap, you don't know me but I respect your opines on here and want you to know I have placed a direct call to WasteManagement to come clean up this crap! It'll be an emergency run! Daggone, this thread has wore me out. 83Rebel, great definitive post you made. I actually could understand it and it made good sense. Rebeltothecore, you hurry on back from Ohio; we may need you to open up a can of.............well, never mind. Happy Thanksgiving to all! From the Mrs. and Hog.
