  1. Was out of town for Thanksgiving and didn't have the opportunity to congratulate Bearden on the win over Farragut. You guys are for real. It's been a great season and I hope it continues. GO GOVS !!! But, for the next 2 weeks, Go Bearden Bulldogs !!!
  2. My thoughts are very similar. The entire 1st quarter and part of the second were literally played between the 20's. When we punted a 49 yarder that pinned them at the 1, I was smiling. I figured this game would be a battle of field postition and I liked our chances. Then came the 93 yard bomb. Their receiver was a full 20 yards behind our defense, stopped and waited for the ball, then turned and raced the last 40 yards. My gut started hurting. Then, they had another 50-60 yarder at the end of the half. I could no longer breathe at this point. The second half did nothing to ease my pain. Their receivers were wide open short, mid-range, and deep all night long. I'll discuss my feelings about the Govs on a future thread, but this is for Bearden. They brought their A game. WB most definitely did not. However, I'm not sure even WB's A game would have been enough on this particular Friday evening. Best of luck, Bulldogs! Woof! Woof!
  3. Bearden - Great game. You guys looked awesome. Best of luck next week. William Blount - keep your heads high, gentlemen. This was a great season and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. Remember these days forever. Go Govs !!!
  4. I agree that it would help create a clearer picture of the stronger regions. The major problem, I believe, would be the additional travel and potentially smaller gates. More future rivalries in the making would be pretty cool though. Go Govs !!!
  5. Dang. I'll have that tune in my head all day long now.
  6. Oh, we're coming, MC ......... we are coming! Go Govs!
  7. Then this should be a great game because WB's defense is kinda for real too. Looking forward to Friday evening. Go Govs!
  8. Thanks for your well wishes. We're happy to have him here as well. Go Govs!
  9. I guess this the the part where I should wish the Govs good luck next week at Bearden. Sorry, but I can't be a hypocrite. The Bulldogs are in our region and have a class program. In addition, their OC is a former Jacksboro Middle School coach who is a class act. The Govs coaching staff pulled an Urban Meyer on the Cougars by throwing the ball deep downfield with less than 5 minutes to go with a 21-0 lead . . . like the Gaytors, I hope the Governors get what's coming to them. Call me a sore loser, but that last drive was in poor taste with the game already decided. I can understand your point of view concerning the final scoring drive, but this was my perspective from high in the stands. After watching numerous drives killed by the zebras all night, I felt our best chance to take it out of their hands was with a quick strike rather that a sustained drive. I have no idea what was in the minds of those on the field, but I felt like we were scoring on the refs as opposed to the Cougars. Also, while a 21 point lead is hard to overcome in 5 minutes, I'll bet we've all seen it happen. Personally, I'd prefer that extra cushion. Anyway, I hope all the Campbell County folks enjoyed the trip south and I wish you success next year. Go Govs!
