  1. I think I know who wrote this and in the dog fight I will take the dawgs. Anyway, when the market is a down market and the investors are running away from investing it is called a bear market because they are running away scared like bears do. I will go Bearden 28, Sevier Count 17. You think I am joking but I am not.
  2. I agree, the ball touched the ground immediately after the kicker kicked the ball. It then jumped into the air and then the player caught it before it touched the ground again. The refs made a horrible call. I am not a fan of either team, I am a Bearden fan and just like to see good football played without the officials screwing it up.
  3. I played at Bearden from '93-'96 and agree about Coach Scott and him knowing his offense. I will be pulling for Hardin Valley a little bit this year knowing this. Great hire for Hardin Valley and I am not too sure that Brad Taylor could do too much about them hiring him if it was an upward move. Good luck this year to both teams.
  4. Does anyone have any information on Bearden in 2009? The only thing I have heard about is Devrin Young. He is an amazing player and I saw him play a few times last year, but I would really like to hear about the other players on the team and what the expectations for the team as a whole are for the 2009 season. I played at Bearden back in the mid 90's and rely on this forum to stay informed on the team these days. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  5. All I have to say is that Smyrna's QB has a bad knee.
  6. Also I want to say that I absolutely loved seeing the fighting attitude the Bearden players had. They never gave up and were trying and taking the fight to Smyrna till the very end. Smyrna you all have great team speed. I hope Bearden plays you all again in the Semi-finals many more times. The whole thing about the band is sportsmanship, probably a funny thing to talk about after reading messages on this board, it is not against the rules. Our band should start doing the same thing when the opposing team's band does it, at that point sportsmanship is out the window. I think that Smyrna played conservative for two reasons, one was to help run out the clock and the second reason is because the Smyrna QB was absolutely getting killed, if they did not stop passing you would not have him in the finals. I heard some overconfidence on the part of some of the Bearden parents in the stands and I can not help but think that this had to influence the players early in the game even if they still do not realize it. You can not ever take a team in that round of the playoffs lightly. Also can someone explain why the clock would start after a penalty? My next question, how are the basketball teams for the two schools this year?
  7. Just want to say I do not agree with the first fumble call, his knees where down well before the ball came out. I believe there was a missed call where the Bearden reciever caught the ball in the middle of the field took a few steps and got hit, the ball came out, he fell on it and they called it an incomplete pass. The fact still is they gave up the punt return and the fumble return for the touchdown. There were things they could have controlled that they did not and those things cost them the game. Great season Bearden and congratulations to Smyrna. I am not going to be a sore loser when we did not play a perfect game.
  8. I am not sure exactly how true this is but I have heard that most of the Bearden players have played together since middle school.
  9. Thanks for remembering the team. I was a little fired up and ready to go Saturday when I was conversing with them and it seems they were in the same mood. It is all in good fun. It is also great to see the team doing well and some of the young players having such intense attitudes. I am going to try to make it to Smyrna to cheer them on. GO DAWGS!!!! the real ones from Bearden
  10. I agree with everything you said. There are no common opponents between the two squads, no way from the outside to compare the two against each other. I can't wait to listen to the game or possibly watch it. Good luck to Bearden and no bad luck wished to Smyrna, just cheering on the Bearden Bulldogs.
  11. Hey coaches and fans do the talking off the field, the players do it on the field, I was just trying to teach a young man when it was time for him to talk and when it was not. I am a huge Bearden fan and former player from 93-96 I was #73. I assume that you want to cry also. Like I said earlier I like the enthusiasm, especially the day after the game. Sorry he tore his ankle, I know what that feels like I have had torn ligaments in both of my ankles, it is not fun. And all I have to say is that if the rest of the team is that irritated and angry I like our or your chances next weekend.
  12. Sorry if I offended you. I will not talk to or about you again I promise. Peace out.
  13. Also, you might not want to give the opposing team any inside information that could allow them to be prepared for something that they otherwise would not have been prepared for. Please just quit talking.
  14. As much as I like your confidence and enthusiasm, there is no need for you to defend the team on the message board. You need to save your talking for the field next friday night. You can read the board and use it to get fired up but do not give them any ammo by talking on here.
  15. Bearden is as solid of a defense as I have seen in high school football this year. I was on the 1996 Bearden defense that only allowed 77 points in 11 games and I think only 1,300 total yards in those 11 games. They shut down the pass with some great corners and safetys. The defensive line is solid and gets great pressure on the QB and is also the best run defense I have ever seen in high school. They held Farragut who was the #1 offense in the state coming into the game to a little over 150 total yards. The offense is has started getting its game together over the past six games or so. Tory Works ran for 271 and 4 tds against Farragut, he has about 1800 yards on the year now. Bearden usually has a good short passing game but their top reciever blew his knee out agaist Science Hill earlier in the year and I do not think he will be back against Smyrna. They still have a couple other deep threats including Eicholtz. Eicholtz is also the return man and can make some big returns. Usually Bearden does not do anything spectacular, they just play good solid football all the way around. Overall a well coached level headed team, they don't get scared and make dumb decisions.
