  1. Look, I am definately going for Manassas 100%, but watching them play sometimes just makes me mad. I mean come on, you have a 6'8 guy down low with crazy athleticism, and he hardly even gets touches. After watching Z Mason and CPA play, the question came up about who would win 1-on-1. I thought about it and I can honestly say that from what I've seen, I can't answer that, because I dont feel that I've seen what Buckner is truly capable of an Mason is an absoulute beast.I know the guys around him are plenty good and are capable of doing great things. I think they could easily beat a team like Jackson Co without Buckner if the other guys shoot halfway decent, but they ARE NOT going to be able to beat Union City unless Buckner gets touches. I know he finished with fairly good number of points, but he really doesn't touch the ball enough. I'm sure that the coach for Manassas is a good coach, but I wonder why he allows the guys to come down and just chunk up shots without even getting the ball into the big man's hands. I know that Buckner is a great shot blocker and rebounder, I just think if the tigers utilize offensively Buckner they can beat Union City, but unless he gets significant offensive production they will lose. Congratulations to both teams and congratulations to Jackson Co for not getting the absolute snot beat out of them. I honestly thought by looking at the teams warming up it would be at least a 35 point spread, maybe worse. Good luck to Manassas.
  2. First of all, let me say that after watching Manassas play, I was slightly disapointed. After hearing all of the talk on here, I was expecting to watch the Boston Celtics play. As you can imagine, I was extremely disapointed when I got there and didn't even see Kevin Garnett. LOL... I don't feel that I can rightly pick a team in this game because I have not seen Humboldt play. However, I have seen Manassas play and they appear to be very good. They shoot a LOT of threes. I watched them play Middleton at JCS, and they shoot very quickly. Especially #30 (I think that's Atkins). I'm pretty sure that Buckner was hurt when they played them, because he was always lagging behind a little bit, but I could tell that he was plenty good. From what I've heard about Epperson, that should be a good matchup in the post. The thing about Manassas that I noticed is that they are pretty deep. The other big guy, 55, is really good too, and they all crash the boards really hard. This should be a good game, and I would really be surprised if many teams are good enough to beat Manassas.
  3. It's Kenny Greer, Knucklehead. Thomas Greer plays for West Carol.
  4. Adamsville certainly had a very good regular season, but lately they haven't been playing their best. They didn't win the district tournament, which is obviously a huge disapointment to them since they were the heavy favorite. But if you think about it, they really did not come out all that bad. At least they have a shot against Middleton. They lost by 14 the first time and then only 6 the second time they played this year. They should just be happy that they beat Scotts Hill. Poor Scotts Hill must face the Legion of Doom (Manassas). At least Adamsville has a chance to advance...
  5. How good are these teams? I've asked about riverside and havent gotten hardly any response. How good is camden? Was this a game of two really good teams or a good matchup between sub-par teams? Just asking because I haven't seen or heard much of anything about either one, but from what yall are saying, it was a good game.
  6. I gotta go with Bolivar in this one... I think Rhodes and Reeves will dominate Liberty's D. I havent seen either one play, but this is just my humble opinion. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  7. It's nice to hear that Riverside is up and coming... They haven't had very much recent success, so it sounds like a good underdog story. Having watched Riverside play this year, do you think that they cant contend for a district title this year? I have watched both Madison and TCA play this year. They both appear to be inconsistant, but also seem to have some talent on their teams. Havent watched JCS play, but I have heard that they are doing some serious rebuilding this year. Adamsville will most likely, as always, contend for a title, and Scotts Hill I still know nothing about. Once again, congratulations to Riverside, and any more information on the district would be nice. Also, does anybody know anything about USJ this year?
  8. I saw the standings in the paper today and I was shocked to see that scotts hill and riverside were ranked first in this district. I know that this district isn't all that tough, but usually Adamsville is pretty solid, and both Madison and Trinity were ranked tops in the distict. I havent followed this district very much, but as a fan of basketball in jackson and the surrounding area, I try to keep up with local teams and district. Can anybody explain why Scotts Hill and Riverside are suddenly good? Or have they just played a weak schedule and the others have played a tough one?
  9. I'm going with USJ... I havent seen either one play, but I do know that JCS lost several starters last year, while USJ returns their best player. USJ will have the size advantage, and if they shoot the ball well, they could run away with it.
  10. Haven't gotten a chance to watch Liberty play, but I can tell you that Northside appears to be a streaky team. The Prather kid can flat out play. I think he flys a little bit too much under the radar, because he can shoot, drive, and play good defense. He plays with a level of confidence that isn't common for a sophomore in high school. In two years, he will be a great d-1 prospect. About the game, I think Liberty will win because besides Prather, Northside doesn't really have any other great scorers. Shut him down, and you win the game. Liberty wins by AT LEAST 15
  11. Just cause he doesnt yell all the time or get in the other players faces doesn't mean he doesn't lead his team. He's a solid player who has an excellent shot, but can penetrate very well. Also, with his size, he can post up smaller guards and take them to the hoop. Taylor also shares the ball with a good point guard. I don't understand why he's getting overlooked. Justin Blake is a great shooter, but I think Taylor's overall, well-rounded game is much better than Blake's.
