  1. Zone will really stand out in the Pirate press box wearing purple & white won't he????? Who got that started?
  2. I haven't heard any resistance either....Who cares??????????
  3. Thanks to you too, Grunt, but not interested with the status thing. I'm not that type person but I WILL defend my school and it's administrators. Maybe someday others will learn how to establish a "friendly" rivalry like TC and SP have had for many years. Good luck to the Jackets this coming season from the Pirate Nation. Show 'em how the smaller schools can "hang" with the larger ones!!!! Hope you all have a good and injury free season. Maybe we will be rooting for each other in the 'Boro.
  4. Thanks for the confidence, Ambassador, I AM NOT a so-called know it all as some think they are but I have been around a little while. I don't reply much on the "T", but I don't like it when one likes to insult my school and will speak my piece when that happens. I was scolded this week for me letting this stuff upset me so I am now signing off the subject, for I highly respect my "scolder" for what he is doing for the STUDENTS, not just athletes, of SPHS. He IS large and IN CHARGE. Good Luck to all this season from the Pirate Nation. Look forward to see what the outcome will be for all.
  5. thanks for your confidence, Grunt...nothing like friendly rivals sticking together. Guess now it is former rivals, huh??? I sorta hate that too. SORTA, ha!!!
  6. Don't care who becomes whose ambassador...facts are facts. Like I told BigJ...outside our region/district games...most of our games have been 2 or 3A for several years.
  7. What I did not like is the insinuation that SP is will not play schools of a higher classification when I know that most of our games outside of our region/district are 2A or 3A and has been for the past several years if one would want to research it.
  8. I did not get to attend this year, and sorry, do not who the winners were but from what info I have received, it was again a big success. Thanks to all that participated and sponsored our tournament.
  9. Thanks for the compliment and yes, we have been blessed with good, athletic kids...I know it was not you that made the statement about us NOT scheduling larger schools, I just don't understand why one would when the proof is there for anyone to see. Would only take a little research. Maybe the one that did make that comment has not been around very long.
  10. If I was a betting person...I would bet that if you look back at SP's schedule for the past several years, you would find out that they played more higher classification teams outside their region/district games than A or 1A teams. On the same subject, for the past few years (know for a fact the past 3 years) that Jasper has had problems BEATING a particular school of around 250 students!!!! As far as the comment that someone made about Ronnie Carter with TSSAA taking schools from the SP region/district that gave them a problem...don't think he did that just for SP's benefit or that he was doing them a favor...there is no love loss between SP and Ronnie Carter. Been around and involved with the program for a long time...don't recall ANY favors RC has done for the Pirates. Don't know if anything will be any better for SP or not now that he is gone, but personally, I'm glad he is gone. He has made room for someone else to get rich using ALL our kids. Still don't know of very much the TSSAA does for any of the members' kids. Stop and think of all the money they make off our kids just during playoffs then tell me where the money goes. TSSAA gets their money off the top of playoff proceeds before ANY school gets any money if I am not mistaken. If I am, I will stand corrected!!!
  11. Don't worry, OP, the Pirates have been in the weight room as always...they do lifting different hours than in the past. Pirates seem to be in pretty good shape.
  12. Cornbread Festival would not be successful if it was not for the students of SPHS and parents of SPES, and the festival folks know it. The students, parents and administration of SPHS and SPES should be highly commended for their contribution and efforts to the community especially during the Cornbread Festival. Have heard nothing but compliments from various CBF vendors thru the years on how well planned our festival is and that we must have wonderful school administrators for them to get the effort they see from our students during our festival. My compliments to ALL!!!!!
  13. Is parking still available among some of the businesses at the end of the football field to where we can walk across the bridge to the visitor stands??? Have made several trips to the creekbank and have always parked in that area, the best I recall. If not, give us directions as to which way we need to go. Good luck...see ya Friday!!! Who's cooking supper????? HA!!
  14. ALL PLAYERS ARE FINE, THANK GOODNESS
  15. Questions for Geno: Did you play football for SP, if so, how many years and when? Where did you go to college to be trained to become a high school coach? You say there are colleges looking at some of the SP players, I assume from past blogs one of them is David Jones who is a senior...at this point of this players' career, I would HOPE that the schools that are interested in him already know what his capabilities are and how this player may be able to help their program. I agree injury is one snap away, so WHY continue to play these players in these lop-sided games taking the chance of them getting hurt, possibly with a career ending injury? Should these players with college potential get hurt in a lop-sided game, it would probably take the armchair coaches on Coach T about 30 minutes to start on the coaching staff!!! Do you think that the colleges interested in these kids would go ahead and offer them a scholarship should they receive a career ending injury in a lop-sided game?? I don't think so!!! So then what happens to these kids??? What is his future from this point in time??? As far as those who think SP has no class for "running up scores", it is not SP's fault that the TSSAA choses to put them in a region with so many new schools just starting their football programs!!! Can't blame SP!! Most if not all of their non region games are with schools in a higher classification. What more can you ask? What do these folks want a school to do, tell the athletes they are blessed with that they can't play a sport because you are too good for the region schools we have to play? Folks will think we have no class because we may run up the score on some of these new schools in our region? Those folks need to stay quiet until they know the facts!!!
  16. Man...I wish I knew half as much about football as some armchair coaches think they do. There was an incident that happened to one of the SP players in a scrimmage game that not only could have ended his career, it could have caused permanent damage!! No matter what anyone says, should that happen to David, still in a lop-sided ballgame, the coach's name WOULD be mud!!!! No matter what you say now I KNOW what EVERYONE would be saying, I've heard it ALL my life in similar situations too many times. This kind of 'smack' could also be making matters worse!!! I do think that David is MAN enough that if he does not understand why or if he has a problem with it, that his and his coach's relationship is good enough that they could/would discuss it among themselves and we FANS and supposedly SUPPORTERS can do just that and support the program as it is. What we, as fans say, think, or do has nothing to do with the recruiting process. Went through it with my own son. It is not always pretty. The folks that are interested in David, already know what he is capable of doing and how he may help their program. Leave it up to the folks that have been trained and have the knowledge to do this job to do it as they see it needs to be done!!! I include myself.
  17. I heard they have transfers from Red Bank & Baylor...don't blame the kids either if they were traveling down the mtn to get to school. I'd stay at home too. Fact is...the SP jr. varsity does not even practice as a jr varsity squad. They practice with varsity. So that means our kids were just thrown together at game time for the game with Signal as they will be if they play any more jr. varsity games. Don't know that we will beat Signal every time we may play them, but I guarantee you it will be a different story than everyone saw in the jamboree or the jr. varsity game if they are on our schedule.
  18. How can you comment on a game like this when Signal has junior and senior transfers vs. SP freshmen and sophomores? I agree Signal has some good athletes and will be a team to recon with in the near future but I don't see what is fair to their opponents this year with them playing a jr. varsity schedule with upper classmen being the Signal team. Not blaming anyone, just stating my opinion. Promise you...we will be ready once the varsity schedule begins for Signal.
  19. I will be wearing my ORANGE & BLACK proudly!!!! NO wrestling...too old for that stuff!!!!
  20. Let's get the scores of 06 & 07 correct...06 was 47-0; 07 was 48-19 I think. Which would be 95-19.
