  1. something I looked up on TSSAA's website, correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I saw, there AAA has existed for 37 years. 27 championships have gone to Memphis or schools in Shelby County. thats pretty impressive. speaks for itself. I'm thankful that Dyer County caught the break it did, because it isn't easy to get out of West TN when you have to face deep Memphis teams in Region/Substate. good year for Memphis/West TN basketball!
  2. hoping that our boys can pull it out tomorrow! looking for a strong game back and forth, this one won't disappoint. Mccord is long overdue for this, I guarantee his thoughts immediately went to preparing for Southwind as he was walking off the court today.
  3. great state tournament from what I've been able to listen to/watch online. Hubbs was fun to watch today. looking forward to seeing Dyer County & Southwind battle it out tomorrow, not looking forward to the drive up in the morning.
  4. Yes, its been a very long time since I've appeared on these forums. nice to see everyone, I figure there is no better time than now to log back in than after my alma mater's trip to the AAA Semifinals. Dyer County and Siegel play Friday morning at 11:45. I've heard a lot of good about Siegel, from listening to today's game, they seem to be comfortable in the Murphy Center. Dyer County has to pick it up scoring wise, I don't remember them ever scoring on 40 points in a game. perhaps they will be over the nervousness that comes with that first game in the Murphy Center. Who wins this one and why?
  5. couldnt be more excited for this one. too bad I have to sit all by myself for the Grizzlies Game. anyone thats been to one of these in the past, will fans be allowed to leave in between games/move down lower for the high school games?
  6. you know what sucks? out of the Top 4 & #6, only 2 of them will go to the State Tournament. good teams, but West TN only gets 2 spots in Murfreesboro. sure is nice to be at #2 in AAA though, after only being up there a year and a half.
  7. http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/news/grizzlies_to_honor_mays_reed_wilkens-101221.html Southwind/Central Game is at 3:30.
  8. http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/news/grizzlies_to_honor_mays_reed_wilkens-101221.html Southwind-Central game is at 3:30, Dyer County game should be sometime after that?
  9. hope I get a chance to go to this one. if you get the cheap seats for the Grizzlies game will you be able to move down for this & the Central/Southwind Game?
  10. Believe it or not, Im coming out of the wood work for this one. Its been almost a year since Ive been anywhere near this site, shortly after I finished out my senior year at Dyer County. Life has been very busy, as I now attend college in Jackson and work as well. Hopefully within the next few weeks I will be able to attend a Dyer County game and see this years team, because as I read on this board, I am missing out on a lot. As nice as Rankings are, (believe me, Top 100 Nationally would be great), isn't a priority at Dyer County. I remember my (junior?) year when we climbed our way up the TN AP Top 10, & eventually got the #1 spot. As nice and as cool as that was, and as much as everyone tried to play it up, Mccord was blatant about how it was nice to get to that point, but it didn't mean squat when it came to getting to Murfreesboro and competing for the Gold Ball. Mccord wouldnt mind the 'national recognition' as well, but he would much rather prepare his team to get to the Murphy Center and be playing in and to win the championship game. I do agree with you when it comes to scheduling some tougher Tournaments, etc. It does indeed assist in strengthening the team as a whole by playing tougher competition. I believe that Dyer County will stick with the Martin Lions Club tournament for a while, because it provides local fans an opportunity to see their team, as well as boosts ticket sales to the tournament. Hope to see you at some games later on this season!
  11. great game. its a shame we had to lose, but thats how it goes sometimes. depth & experience paid off for ws. jackson is on a whole nother level than most, he should do great at memphis. idk exactly what happened with the foul situation, as the crowd made themselves known during that incident. with the experience gained this season, our guys should come back strong as the bar is raised. good luck to ws at state!
  12. im lovin the hype building up on this thread for this game. hopefully it lives up to all that. monday couldnt get here soon enough! will be a rockin gym, packed. id get there as soon as they let people in the doors. i honestly doubt they will turn people away. as packed as it has been during the previous substate games we have hosted, there is much room for standing room only.
  13. i wish. the station that follows us doesnt see it fit to stream over the internet.
  14. hour and a half straight up 51. tickets arent hard to get, very large gym, top-feeder, and they usually dont have a problem with standing room only around the top of the gym. ws should be selling tickets monday morning, but id get there as early as possible to have a seat at all. bigger game than both BTW substate games combined, so the gym is guaranteed to be rockin.
  15. didnt see that happen but i figured it was inevitable. physical game and emotions running high. what did brown get the tech for? tomlins tech was legit, nice block but gotta keep those lips zipped.
  16. this is a great thread so far for only being 45 mintues old. i agree that a perfect or near perfect game by dc is necesarry. as for pressing a whole lot, mccord knows defensive schemes very well. i guarantee he will be looking at tape of white station as soon as he sets foot into the school tonight, breaking them down. he will have a precise plan for monday night. white station is perhaps the best team dc has faced. probably the bestcoached team we have faced. should be a great one on monday.
  17. one for the ages tonight at bolton. best crowd ive seen in a while. very physical game tonight. north side didnt have the focus they needed in a big game like this, with silly technical fouls for language and even yelling and pointing @ our schools mascot during the 2nd quarter. Focus was a big part of tonights game. northside had no focus and lost their composure. dc kept trucking and didnt let anything set them off. looking forward to the ws game and good luck to northside @ melrose. also the mysterious short ref showed up again tonight. couldnt believe my eyes when i walked in and saw him on the floor.
  18. should be a good game. pretty much a homegame for the orange and white. bolton high school will be packed to the rim tonight. brining the band and the whole crew. we know what has to be done when it comes to defense and executing what we need to. as ive said before, on a neutral court or home court, i would take dyer county over northside ten times out of ten. hopefully well earn a substate berth tonight and get rested and prepared for monday.
  19. im not underestimating either team. i know it will be difficult either way. not runnin my mouth as i did a few years ago about us and liberty, i understand now how deep some of these teams are with talent and that a perfect game is necessary. im just along for the ride. lookin forward to 2 great ones thursday and monday, and hopin for a few more! definitely looking forward to seeing ws or melrose play.
  20. sounds like our work is cut out for us. all ive heard is joe jackson since going to state 2 years ago. average height for melrose & ws? i say this way too often, but i like our chances in newbern. mccord pulls it together and finds a way to win with our guys. wish i couldve met ya tonight terop! another great week of basketball in west tn!
  21. weve had that short ref all year! cordova impressed me tonight. very athletic squad. #44 Front side bus had a great game, might have been a different game if he didnt foul out. very agressive. cant wait till thursday- DC and Northside round 4!
  22. i know melrose and white station are good. and it should be a great one thursday night at central. but can someone give me an accurate description of both teams so i know just exactly what were up against on monday? main names i hear are rucker & jackson.
  23. nothing is impossible, as ive seen in the past, but i agree with you in that it will be highly improbable for us or craigmont/cordova/ns to win against melrose or white station on the road or even at home. choctaw fans are long overdue for a home substate game though, theres nothing like that atmosphere. hope to see you tuesday terop!
  24. i did notice the fouls seemed a little uneven, but im not sure it was cheating/homecooking. do what you must, but sending in a tape may be a lost cause. weve tried that in the past and it was to no avail. bolton is a good team, very athletic, but its tough to come into newbern and win.
