  1. I am just glad that Chris Parker wasnt hired back when JW got the job. Can you imagine the success the program would be having if Coach Parker was running the show. That would be so unfair to the kids at WC. To be able to compete at the highest level after all the work Parker puts in year after year. We as Warren Countians would not want that for our young men. A Cascade dynasty that was started under his direction and now doing the exact same thing 1 year in at Blackman. For those that opposed him I say thankyou for your insight and knowledge. To the ones who told him no in Warren County Cascade players and fan say thankyou along with Blackman. NOW GET IN THE COUNTY VEHICLE FIND OUT WHERE CHRIS PARKER LIVES AND GO BEG FOR FORGIVENESS. HE IS THE MAN THAT SHOULD LEAD THE WARREN COUNTY PROGRAM UNTIL HE WANTS TO RETIRE. TELL THAT HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR THAT TAKES ALL APPLICATIONS AND RESUMES TO GET OUT OF THE OFFICE SCHOOL IS OUT AND HAND DELIVER ONE TO HIM. MAKE PARKER TELL YOU NO!!!!!!!!!!! I would not blame him if he does. We need him much more than he needs us. What a difference 5 years makes.
  2. Dont know all of applicants, but position is filled. Malcolm Montgomery new coach
  3. Pioneer Parent I am hearing girl from Lebanon that used to play for former coach is leader in clubhouse. I believe Erica is her first name. Cant see how this would be a tremendous upgrade IMO.
  4. I totally agree Sportsfan12. I cant believe Mr. Nunley finds it so difficult to be at 6 games in one night in this county. With all the budget cutbacks at the Standard it is hard to understand why Mr. Nunley isnt given the corporate jet or helicopter to set down in lovely Irving College to take a couple snapshots then jetset across the skies to Centertown to catch the final minutes of those barnburners that happen every game night in that gym. With wrestling, bball, softball, baseball, football, golf, volleyball, tennis just in the highschool I cant imagine how one man could not find it in him to get at least 1 snapshot of everyplayer on everysquad everyweek in the local rag. Is this too much too ask. I think not. The Standard thought so highly of our sports dept. that it cut in 1/2. I think with 1/2 the manpower we in this county deserve twice the coverage. Is this too much too ask. I think not. Maybe a 24hour sports show sponsored by the Standard devoted totally to Warren County sports. Is this too much to ask. I think not. Maybe the Standard could allow everyday to be April 1st. Is this too much to ask. I think not.
  5. Will have to be outside the system because nobody in the county would bring enough to the table. Coaches with the ability to run a AAA highschool program are few and far between in this school system.
  6. I thought the crowds for AA and AAA game were very small. Games felt like a game played in the middle of December not the STATE CHAMIONSHIPS. Dont know the answer, but if that is any indication of how the State tournament finals are being presented to the general public of the state of Tn. then the system does need a turn with the wrench. That was broke in more ways than one. Attendance numbers were way down from years past. The girls tournament brought in more people for the weekend.
  7. I cannot believe what I am hearing about this socalled petition. Everyone says it states truths and accuracy about the program at WC, but people will not sign it because(Fill in the Blank). If you have a daughter that is being done so wrong that you cant stand up for what is right then you need to look in a mirror. My problem with the whole petition is this should have been done years ago. Also it seems one family has taken on as it cause to take away the power from the family in charge with the program at WC. I dont believe the people in charge can run a quality program, but that being said the school board members who are trying to make change have used this system to benefit from it. Scrap the whole darn thing. Highschool faculty needs to go, administration needs to go, elementary coaches who are baby sitters because they cant coach need to go, schoolboard members need to go, and the list goes on and on. If you think the change of a couple of people is going to lead our county back to relevance in bball then you need therapy. WC needs a major overhaul and that probably means your nextdoor neighbor needs to leave the program if they are associated with it. There isnt 3-5 people in that system that can help our program bball wise. There isnt 3-5 more in the county as a whole that could help build a winner. There isnt another viable option for any players to turn to besides the WC program unless you move. A MAJOR OVERHAUL IS NEEDED not a new paint job on a 75 model chrysler.
  8. When our own radio station announcers make comments that last nights loss maybe the worst in the Pioneer history then I think saying it is going to be a LONG YEAR is not a typical statement by a Pioneer fan. The talent on the football field just is not up to par with other 5A schools and a 2A school proved that. The 1st person to blame coaching for this is the one who needs to be called typical. They are overmatched talent wise in position after position and you cant blame anyone on the staff for that.
  9. With the rise in prices including the price of education I have a question that I cant seem to find an answer to. I know there is a 5 year window for schools to have co-op program with a school that has a sport that another school doesnt have. This means if a existing student wants to play a sport he would have to transfer schools and sit out a year if no address move took place. What happens to a students eligibility if the school he attends no longer exists. I know this sounds crazy, but some of these smaller private schools are going to struggle to keep the doors open if the economic factors continue to worsen. If student A school closes up shop at the end of his sophomore year does student A have to sit out a year of competition even though he had no idea this was going to take place. I havent got a solid answer yet and was wondering has this situation come up any where else in the state.
  10. Probably as well as it worked in 9A. Coach Parker will be near the top of the coaching food chain in 7AAA quickly. Already better than some of those coaching in the district now. Blackman made a good hire. The guy can coach baseball. Ask Cascade if they are sorry he is leaving and then ask the rest of the 9A coaches if they are glad he is going. I think the answer to both questions is yes.
  11. MO-MO should have been the mound early on. Hindsight is 20/20. Great year by the Champs!!! Can Cascade keep Parker on will bigger fish come calling??
  12. Nitro I ask this question because you alluded to it in your post. Do you or does anyone else think the administration at the highschool namely the principal is trying to force Coach Madewell out the door. I like and respect both coach Madewell and coach Smith, but from the outside looking in it seems they are really attempting to tie the hands of the head football coach. It is a shame how much the staff has been depleted with no hires being made. It is also a testament to coach Madewell and the others that they are working their tails off regardless of the situation. Once again a sad commentary of the decision makers for the highschool especially the principal. When will the madness end.
  13. I just cant defend the principal from Warren County. Cascade hired him after WC turned him down. Parker should have been a no-brainer for Warren County. He must have had the qualifications necessary to be a coach because Cascade picked him right up after WC said no. I will continue to say it-Chris Parker is better than the coaches that WC has. He has been successful everywhere he has stopped and now the WC program suffers because of the mistake of a man at the helm of the WC highschool who keeps making them over and over. WC had their chance and blew it.
  14. You can thank the genius Warren County high school has for a principal as the reason Coach Parker is not at Warren County. The Warren County program has went backwards ever since he left and Cascade has just continued to grow and progress. Told Parker he needed to be working own his degree while he was out coaching baseball. He was applying to be the baseball coach!!!!!!!!!!! What a (you fill in the blank) and WC suffers from it. Coach Parker is just good at his job. Too bad the higherups at WC couldnt see that!!!
  15. That was the worst kept secret in the Boro. GL coach. Should be interesting over the next couple of months the direction the individual board members take since the vote took 3 times to be approved. Cant think this was a hire that made everyone at MTCS warm and fuzzy inside.
  16. I dont have all solutions, but I am smart enought to know the path we have taken isnt the yellow brick road to glory. Do you think we are traveling the pathway to success. You lose Coach Harris who in my opinion may not be the best OC in the world, but his HC wanted to keep him around in some shape form or fashion and was told No because of his intangible work the most dont see and was told no. Now you lose Wilmore and Turner. Their has to be changes. THAT HAS TO HAPPEN!!!!!!!! AT THE TOP!!!!!!!! Why talk year after year day after day about the problems if nothing is ever going to be done about it. That is all I am saying and suggesting. Hey if you dont agree then keep talking about the promise land that isnt going to be reached. Someone tell me do you think we will still be talking about the same things this time next year with the big 3(FB,G@BBK,BB). If you dont change the heads at the top we will and I am not talking about coaches either.
  17. People from Warren County just dont get it. We cry and moan and groan daily, monthly, weekly, yearly about our sports programs, but do absolutely nothing of substance to help rid our county of the constant struggle that our students face to be the best they could be. The administration namely the principal, the Supt, and the board of the highschool have NO IDEA how to run a successfull program. They cant do it.Name me a program with a winning record for 3 consecutive years since they have been on board. The people who have been here who have been successful with winning seasons on a multi year basis are gone. The Luna's, the Keil's, the Barnes, the Shockley's, the Browns, the Walkers, etc.have all left coaching in the county and IMO most would tell you that it is very tough to be successful in WC. The middle schools(including the county programs) are in total disarray if you believe that is a feeder for highschool athletics. No growth for the county means who you play with today will be your future tommorrow because very few newcomers come to this county via parents or family moving in from outside sources. WE ARE A 3A progam competing in 5a in football and a SINGLE A program in other sports playing AAA. I dont care how many boys and girls walk up and down those halls. If that meant success then we would be in the mix every year for district and region championships. We cant get our athletes to compete on the level to be in the middle of the pack in districts or regions and IT ISNT ALL THE COACHES FAULT!!!! Do we have some bad coaches- probably (records over time speak for themselves), but coaches take much of the blame for the gross misgivings of our county leadership especially inside our school system. You want change then dont go vote for the ones who make the same miscalculated steps that prevent our WCkids from being as good as they can be. That is the 1st step. Poor Madewell is fighting a losing battle with these people who dont have a clue as to how be successful. Baseball has taken a complete kamikaze nosedive and nobody recognizes why or does no one actually care. VanBuren Co. has passed us in b-ball. Dekalb isnt far behind. Wholesale changes at the top and not just coaching changes. These are still the people who brought in Tidwell, Turner, Hamilton, etc. It is a complete shame it has gotten to this point. Change it!!!! Vote the ones who need to go out!!!! Let some new blood take it in a new direction because this ship has taken on water for years.
  18. From were I sit watching the WC basketball program, the only reason we are in the AAA division is the size of the school. Our county runs a program comparable to A and AA divisions. Our county schools play other small county schools. Inadequate for AAA sports. Our coaching is done by a host of volunteers or planted teachers. Inadequate for AAA sports. Size doesnt matter in this discussion because our quantity doesnt equate to quality. Our school board members are concerned about their communities not what is best for whole system. Our population growth in WC is at best slow with the exception of the hispanic population. What you see in the 6th grade will for the most part be what you get 5-6 yrs later. Better learn to work with it or losing which has become a way of life in WC will only continue. I cant get to angry about going and watching games at WC. I know the culture wont allow too much success so I just drink my Dr. Pepper and eat my popcorn and hope those young men and women truly enjoy the fact they get to play. For those young men and women to win the adults i.e. school board members, principals, AD's, and coaches would have to change the culture. Cant change a culture with a group of people that has never been outside the tribe.
  19. Does anyone realistically think Eades will be terminated. No way she is relieved of her duties especially since brother would have to O.K. it. If she is freed of her duties the whole program needs to be overhauled starting with county basketball. Went and watched that whole county b-ball tourney and I hate to say it, but that wasnt a high level basketball being played on either the boys or girls side.
  20. I believe they are skewed in multiple ways. 1st highschool is 4 years. Middle school consist mostly of 7th and 8th graders mostly dominated by 8th grade talent. Well your best 8th graders do not always make the transition as your best high school players. Growth spurts, athletic ability, not knowing your true role on a team, etc. sometimes factor into this and also it seems in our county too many multiple sport players at the middle school level choose one sport over another. Dont misunderstand me on the fact that the middle school has been somewhat successful over the past decade in a variety of sports, but you cant always say" winner at middle school = winner at high school." Good freshman, sophomore and junior come into play when those 8th graders become seniors at not only Warren county, but also the rival schools. That is the biggest way it is skewed. I also think when mutiple middle schools in 1 county with enrollment comparable to all of our county schools+the middle school get the advantage of picking the best 10-12 players and then those players get to play comparable competition for mutiple years then a high school staff gets to pick from that pool and maybe others that have worked hard to compete that is when you find out who can play and who cant. Our county system is just flawed athletically. How can a county young man or young woman get better playing against competition everyday in practice if those who are playing around them truly dont have the ability to make those around them better? Also 1 county school means 1 county gym which means practice between 4 teams is pretty difficult. 1 hour everyother day or worse cant help the situation. Their is talent in the county, but for the most part for that talent to become better it will have to happen away from the county scene. Why do you think the middle school got away from it altogether.K-5th grade team in the county should be as far as it goes. Then 2 middle schools and get the best 20-25 players from those 2 schools and lets help make it better is my idea. Just a thought. As for 5 quality people. I am mostly talking about girls, but OK name me five in the system in some shape form or fashion that can help. I believe the Smiths know the game of basketball. I personally think Coach Eades is a true teacher of fundamentals at the lower level and have witnessed her success of teaching middle school players. Other than those Moore has had some success at WCMS so I would throw her into the fold, but in the county noone I can think of or have seen personally that does anythingother than rollling the balls out. Too many volunteers just helping field a squad IMO. They are needed and sure are greatly appreciated, but shouldnt our county want more. Maybe all those tax dollars that are sent toward education could help lure some quality teachers that are coaches. Until the people making policy i.e. school board member want this too get better we are just typing to be typing because it isnt going to happen. Help EADES and SMITH out---put good people around them in all areas. Too much pressure put on them to win and I think they should, but hard to do with the foundation that is built around them.
  21. Most of those are region teams not district teams. Sorry, but there is a difference. Also Franklin Co., Dekalb Co., Tullahoma, and Coffee Co. both have at least 2 middle schools. So they get to combine their best players as freshman. Middle school success at Warren County hasnt translated to highschool success because the results at the middle school are skewed to some degree. Girls and Guys leaving teams has been a problem over the past decade. I believe players leave the program for numerous reasons and coaches, parents, student athletes and Warren County in general are all to blame. Please someone name me 5 quality people in Warren County that can teach the game of basketball!!!!!!!!!!. We go out every year and hire new teachers and we cant find at least 1 person per school that can teach a game better than is being taught now. Find the talent, mold the talent, and polish the talent then you can win with the talent you have. Each year steps need to be made and the 1st step needs to be new leaders. Bet you a coke and candy bar it wont happen.
  22. You are right Hargis. I am one of those who come in and read all the posts that have to do with the hometown Pioneers, but one thing that I think you are missing is the fact the same problems have been in this athletic program for at least the past 5 years if not longer and no changes have been made. What make anyone think this year is the year for change. I feel bad for any young lady who would want to dedicate her time and effort to become a better b-ball player in this county. You cant name 5 quality people in our system that could help further a females career in the sport of basketball. The county coaching is just plain awful. Which of the county coaches would you want a young lady to be tutored by? The level of play these young ladies get night in and night out in the county and middle school is WEAK. Most of your better players will not play 2 competitive games all year in the county system. How can you get better daily by being taught by someone whose knowledge is limited about basketball and playing against competition that is very below average. Everyone talks about the White Co. situation and why we cant do that. I give you one reason. The county system is old and outdated. Go to 2 middle schools. k-5 for county schools and that is it. Athletically it is a must. I am sorry if I offend any one who thinks the county system is the only way for Warren County, but Dibrell AINT what it used to be and Morrison isnt going back to its glory years. You want a deer in the headlight look bring someone in from Centertown whose whole athletic experience has been against the IC, Dibrell, and Morrisons of the world and put them in a Freshman game vs. Riverdale, Oakland, or Lebanon. They never catch up. Problem is our county school system and the board members dont see any problem. See you take away those county k-8 schools and you take away those board members babies. Cant touch those. Sorry ladies and gentleman, but Warren County is not changing. Everyday it doesnt change it goes backwards. Look at the county as a whole. Change has been hard to come by and these problem in our system didnt happen overnight. The parents who have lived here most of their lives and maybe went to school at WCHS need to look around. They will probably see the same people in the school system that ran it when they went there. Change isnt happening in halls of Warren county. Too many people like it that way.
