  1. Gotta go with our fellow countians. OC wins this matchup.
  2. Game didn't look too close to me or anybody else. 2009 was close. 2013 would require sp to score twice to win. That is not relatively close.
  3. Proud of UC. No body hurt or leg cramps. Hard to get a gauge on the temperament of the game due to so many fast big plays and then the starters were out. (Score 42-6 with 4 minutes left in 1st period, 56-6 at half). 1st team offense out by end of 1st quarter. Still need to shore up the long pass plays on defense. UC did not attempt a single pass.
  4. Anxious to see GC's new facilities as well. Hope for injury free game, but I bet there will be a plague of cramps due to expected high heat and humidity at game time.
  5. Starters (3 all staters from last year) are back for this week. Score was 21-7. Doubt Dyersburg held anything back in the game - they were the host school in the featured game opening a new field and stadium and jumbotron. Impressive facilities for sure.
  6. We have played 3 out of last 5 years (1 in playoffs 2009, then regular season 2011, 2012). We won 2009 (our state champ year) and 2012. They won 2011 (their state champ year). WC usually has better passing, we are usually faster. Both teams are tough and play hard. Even though we both run veer, the formations are different.
  7. Only 3 uc fans consistently post.....jdogg, bigswo, and myself. Ucdiditagain every once in a while. I would say we are conservative just like NCS fans are. Vast majority out there posting making all the predictions. Anyway, like I and bigswo say, if we can stay healthy, be physical, compete, and don't fumble, we'll be tough to handle.
  8. Varsity and JV did well. Fumbles came with back up qb (never played qb until last week) Otherwise typical varsity starters only had 1 fumble. Handled Perry county pretty easily. Mt Pleasant more difficult - they are fast and athletic. Varsity defense only gave up 1 td the whole 3 way scrimmage though.
  9. only 1 - Junior from St. Louis area - good athlete and should be back up receiver and linebacker. We dressed out 32 in state title game last year. This year we finished camp with 47. Other new athletes come from good sized incoming freshman class, and few UC athletes that have come out for football that did not play last year.
  10. yes, we have football camp every year in Columbia and have several joint workouts with Columbia central's team during this week (7on7, lineman, JV, scrimmages, etc) Team stays at 4H camp across street from Columbia's high school.
  11. getting in shape, developing depth, getting tougher, meaner, stronger. Pounding the rock and learning to exert their will even when the other team knows exactly where the ball is going. Scrimmaging Columbia central today. 3 way scrimmage on Thursday vs Mount Pleasant and Perry county.
  12. good way of putting things in perspective. There is a lot of pride in UC but we have been through some hard times, just like any small community. I like the work ethic of our school, administration, teachers, students, academic and sport programs. Overall fan base could be better and more supportive, but that is how it always has been. Keep working hard, be humble, and thank the Lord everyday for your blessings (and hardships)
  13. 2 or 3 football players play basketball, maybe 5 play baseball. Majority of football players on track team.
  14. atlas say.... Confucius doesn't have a clue on how Union City and Obion County school systems are like (Union City 1a, South Fulton 1a, Obion County Central 4a) Kids go to school where their parents went to school. Some transfers / year (less than 10 county/city wide) but not due to athletics on most part (mostly academic, and hate to say it, but race as well) Kids that live in city go to county, kids in county go to city.... pretty much where their parents went to school the main reason.
  15. NCS is the team that is scary good to me. Absolutely no disrespect to SP, but SP lost a lot of talent and NCS returns a lot of big time talent. From UC standpoint, just stay healthy, be physical, compete, and please don't fumble. If we are able to do those things, we should be pretty tough.
  16. uC did very well. Played at UTM. Senior linemen in elite camp, others in 7 on 7. UC won overall champ. Uc beat waverly, Dresden, dyer county, Tca, liberty tech, horn lake, and Memphis trezevant in championship game. We did lose to trousdale county in round robin play in morning. Might have been another team in there that we beat. About 10 games in all. Proud of linemen who had good showing as well. Uc jv participated as separate team and got valuable experience as well. Overall a good day where we got a lot of good work in on defense. Proud of the way they handled themselves as well.
  17. yes we played in afternoon session. Glad LC did well.
  18. UC wins lineman challenge and went undefeated in 7 on 7 competition in today's Dyersburg Lineman and 7 on 7 Challenge (looked like a bunch of teams) Keep up the hard work UC and stay hungry. Stay healthy, play physical, compete, and limit fumbles. If we are able to do this, we'll be tough to handle this year.
  19. don't forget the bigster and butchie sitting in a tree get together last year via "farmersonly dot com" site. I mean, with names bigster and butchie, they are meant to be together. Only through the match making sites of coach t and farmersonly dot com, they can be truly happy and complete.
  20. Falcons are not much more than crows with pretty "green" colors.
  21. Nashville Christian School is the scary team to me. Lots of talent and will be definitely motivated. They have a lot of talent (givens, batuli,) with high major college offers. They are the ones I am concerned about if we can make it that far (in addition to getting out of our district, region, section, etc... ) Otherwise UC had decent spring practice, developing depth, no scrimmages. Just getting bigger, faster, and stronger.
  22. hey bigdan, you're a Houston County fan, right? Does Houston County have open zone? Essentially the whole county is an open zone, because it only has 1 school system (just like Henry County on the other side of the river from you) Essentially the school has the whole county to chose for who is on their teams. I mean, you don't have to compete against other schools right. Even with that advantage, the mighty Houston County fighting Irish had a stellar year in football, and now basketball as well. If Henry County can be successful and win a state championship, why can't Houston County with the same situation. I'm sure there will be another excuse and smart response. Ole Big Dan, where art thou?
  23. "Oh brother, where art thou going" with all this. Anyway, I'm proud of our football team with our open zone school county/city system that beat another similar open zone school/city system in a great game. I'm sure Butchie/ambassador or even bossman Coach T will keep the thread topic back on focus about football and not politics (heck he even called someone a Democrat!!! and an idiot!)
  24. 4 of 5 lineman are Jr's coming back for next year. All 3 backs + qb (Jr's) + 1 wr (So) are back next year as well. Even though JR class gets a lot of credit, the Senior class, although only 3, were very good kids, good leaders, and worked very hard and hustled every play.
