  1. GC, Thanks for the info! Appreciate you keeping everything updated; missed you posting in the last days. Let the games begin...should be exciting!
  2. Humboldt at Gibson County tonight 2/1/10 has been cancelled...not sure about a makeup date at this time.
  3. I understand what you said too and you are right that we probably say what we mean better in person...There is no reason to apologize for your opinion...Let me ask you a question...Do you believe that Obion Central's play was the main reason for the Lady Pioneers losing the game or was it mainly because GC played so "poorly" ??..I happen to believe that OC played out of their minds for one 32 minute stretch and caused GC's play to be not what GC fans are used to...I still think GC is the better of the two...I think they are better coached and I think in March they will be playing for that Gold Ball.... .... I know the potential our girls have & I believe if they would have played to that potential (along with our great coach helping)we would have won the game. They haven't become #1 or won 55 games in a row by playing poorly. But, that doesn't take away the fact the Obion had a great game and have stepped it up but that's something we should be doing too. Going to be some rough games coming up
  4. Thank you GCP & Westlevee for understanding what I said. In no way was I putting OC down they played a great game & I said that. I've never said anything on here to put any team or player down, that's not something I do. I love basketball and the girls & boys that play the game and try my best to encourage them all no matter who they play for. Sorry Purple & Gold that you took what I said in wrong context but sometimes I'm better at talking than writing.
  5. The reason Obion won wasn't just because they played a good game because they did, it was because we played a poor game, haven't played that poorly since the game where we lost at state 2 years ago. We haven't been playing to the potential that they have for awhile. This was a wake up call & will get them motivated so it's a good thing. It's all about the big prize at the end that is important (someone told me that last night & it is so true)!
  6. YES, we do NEED Aubrey Reedy! The reason Gibson County is as good as they are is because of the missing piece of puzzle that got fit in place last year, Aubrey! Last night was a farce due to probably the worst refs I have seen in quite a few years. The reason Butler was upset was not due to her performance but having 4 fouls called on her of which 3 in the first half of which only 1 was legit which made it almost impossible for her to play without getting her 5th and fouling out which caused her to sit on the bench half the game. And it wasn't just her that they had bad calls on so did the rest of the team but they pulled it off even with bad refs. WAY TO GO GIRLS! I do believe they needed something to light a fire under them though so it was a good learning tool to get ready for playing against Westview.
  7. You saw right it is 6:00 and you are also right that it is early!
  8. Congrats on another win tonight for the Lady Pioneers. They defeated Trenton tonight by the score of 79-34. Butler was high scorer with 23 followed by FRESHMAN Jasminne Whittemore with 12. GC moves to 4-0 on the season and also makes 39 consecutive wins. GC girls will be playing in the Westview Thanksgiving tournament according to my "updated" schedule I got tonight, lol. Congrats to GC and keep it going! Can anyone verify about us playing in the Thanksgiving tournament and who we will be playing as well as the time. Thanks! Hey GC, we play on Friday at 4:00 against Liberty and on Saturday at 4:00 against Bolton. Should be some good games. Quick correction on next highest scorer after Butler I think was Aubrey who I think had 16 points.
  9. I obviously misunderstood then. I wasn't meaning anything negative toward Butler in that post. I was just told that she didn't play Saturday because of the cross country meet. Considering she played a basketball game and then went and ran in the state cross country meet is pretty impressive. Congrats to her and hopefully she'll have her a great senior year in basketball! See ya around! No problem, I didn't think you were being negative lol. You have always had nothing but good things to say about Heather & she & I really appreciate it! I don't know how she ran and placed 4th either I was pretty concerned because the Ensworth game was pretty physical and she played pretty hard but I guess that is how determined she is when she takes part in something she gives it her all. I was wrong about beating Ensworth by 2 it was more guess I didn't pay much attention to the score just how the girls were playing. Yes, you definately will see me around! Take care.
  10. We scrimmaged Brentwood Academy, Ensworth, and Franklin Road Academy this past Saturday and played without Heather Butler. She was running in the state cross country meet and finished 4th in the state in the individual run. As for those 3 scrimmages and without Butler, GC won one, lost one, and tied one. That's fairly good considering they started Griffin and Reedy and most likely 2 Sophomores and a Freshman, if I'm guessing right on who the starters were. BA and Ensworth are normally the cream of the crop in Division II. Ensworth is a fairly new school, but of course they recruit and bring in top notch players from around Nashville. Hey GC, guess what Heather Butler was there with the team; they scrimmaged the night before against Creekwood for about 2 1/2 hrs & beat them pretty bad and then she did play the first game against Ensworth (very good team) and beat them by around 2 pts but then she went & ran in the state cross country meet and missed the other 2 games. Should be a fun season!
  11. I relayed the message to her & she said that is very sweet & says thank you.
  12. The games start on Thursday; Gibson & Westview get to host their games & Milan & Obion will be on the road.
  13. I think losing BB will affect Westview for quite a while. I don't think people realize how important of a part BB has on their team. She's like the General of their army & that takes time to replace. Besides being a great player she's also a great person. Hopefully she'll heal quickly.
  14. Thank you very much, we definately will enjoy the "whole package"! We are excited that Aubrey & her family are coming to our side of town! We've gotten to know them this summer & they are some good folks! It's not just about Chuck though, the whole family is ready to move & something they have considered doing for quite a while. Chuck would not force his family to move if everyone wasn't in agreement otherwise they probably would have done it years ago. I feel it's a real big loss for Obion & a great asset to Gibson County!
  15. It's kind of hard to play great at the national level when you haven't had any practice time together as a team since AAU State Tournaments back in May which they did win all games in except the final against Memphis Elite & only lost by about 6. One thing you have to have at this level (if you want to win) is practice with your team. You can play good individually but that doesn't win the games.
  16. Yes, GC definately will be going back to state this year, especially with the changes going to happen. We'll all talk tomorrow when the news comes out.
  17. GC, you mean that girl who was getting the freshman motivated? It was pretty funny watching her & Katie playing with all the young ones. She was having fun! We are very excited about the whole team this year; I believe everyone has pulled up their game, it's helped almost everyone having played AAU. I believe we have the best Freshman class around, they are amazing! And just wait until Jeniqua comes back...talk about exciting year coming up! I believe I see Gold too!
  18. Westview wasn't the only one to beat Bradford; Gibson County beat them at camp on Saturday by 20 points or so & that is with taking the starters out & putting freshman in within the last 3-4 minutes on both teams. Gibson County also was beating Jackson County on Friday at camp when Jackson County left at half time saying they didn't want any of their players to get hurt. I think the team that is going to be the top in 13AA is the team that has more than a couple great players, it is going to have to be a team that has ALOT of great players! Which I believe is Gibson County this year.
  19. I'm not sure what they base it on but Heather Butler & Amber Rechis are both 10th graders and they are on the list. I know there are alot of other girls that deserve to be on the list though too. Congratulations to all that did make it though!
  20. Yes, I definitely agree it messes with the kids heads and that is what can affect the playing of the game. Especially when one of the GC girl??™s comments after the game was ???that ref really didn??™t like me!??? and goes on to mention 2 rude & uncalled for comments he had for her out on the floor. How does a person play her best game when she knows that ref is already against her? It??™s sad especially when playing at this level. I really appreciate your comment, it means a lot especially coming from an official.
  21. Thank you for speaking the truth about the ref! Even though one of the other ref's was just as bad. I knew as soon as I came into the gym & saw the ref's I knew we were in trouble. It's really sad when you have such blatant calls or calls that should happen & don't and you know it affects the game playing. I really wonder how people like that sleep at night. If you need any support with contacting TSSAA you can count me in!
  22. The last time I checked I was still a Mom; I guess I need to ask my teens to see if they want to claim me or not as their Mom! If you go to most of the games, which it sounds like you do, you've probably seen me.
  23. Thank you! I'm glad to be aboard! Except for one thing, don't ask me to eat the popcorn! Candy is my specialty!
