  1. Wow, adsmom- 1200 posts in about 4 months on CoachT - that's an average of 10 a day EVERY DAY! Whatever job you have, I want to be your assistant! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  2. O.K., so I'm senile. You are the 2nd person (my wife was first) to point that out. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> My bad, confusing DC with Bolivar. Both good teams no doubt, bu DC better.
  3. Z plays to the level of competition. That comes from his AAU playing where he is used to matching up to 3-5 star propects all the time. He actually played with Jenkins (the other Mr. Basketball candidate) in AAU. He is not a visibly emotional personality - even keeled, no fist pumping, trash talking, so some people see that as lack of hustle. he doesn't tire easily because he conserves his energy and goes about his business. Last year, he would "disappear" at times and not hustle as he should. This year he has rarely done that - especially in big games against good competition.
  4. Remember, DC beat Giles at home, while CPA beat them on a neutral court that Giles had played at several times in their district. Also, CPA had probably their worst shooting game of the season against GC (Z saved the day with a good inside game). Giles defense really didn't bother CPA - they were just cold from outside. CPA jumped out to an 11 point lead in the 1st quarter on Giles, then held on by slowing the game down and working for shots for Z since they recognized their shooting was off. My guess, DC is better than Giles, but not much, so CPA and DC should be evenly matched. It's all a matter of who plays well - that team should win.
  5. You would guess CPA's "slow, white boys" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> would struggle against fast paced pressing teams, but actually their closest games this year have been against slower paced teams. Typically, when CPA gets in a slow paced game, they start pressing to speed things up. I will admit that once they get into their half court offense, they will be very patient working for a good shot, or getting Z open. Doubling Z typically backfires because he can shoot outside and CPA will exploit the 3 on 4 situation the double team creates. I know DC has two very fast small guards, but Miller and Anderson's speed will really surprise you.
  6. This will be a nice atmosphere. CPA, a very small 2A school, probably travels better than any school its size in the state. Many times our road crowds outnumber the home crowd. We will be missing about 100 middle school kids and teachers who are returning from their spring trip to Washington, but we will still bring at least 1,000. Best of luck to DC. This is what it's all about.
  7. So, the TSSAA arranges for CPA to draw Goodpasture in first round of football playoffs, and now DC in first round of basketball state tourney. A more paranoid "conspiracy theory" person would say the "blind draw" seems awful a lot like it wanted the private school eliminated in the first round. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Seriously, the championship probably was going to have to go through DC or CPA anyway, so why not settle it in the first round? I don't know about DC, but I do know CPA has played teams as good as DC this year. They will be ready. It will be a great game and a close one.
  8. Since there has been some discussion about different teams' speed and style of play, here is something interesting. Percentage of games scoring over 65 points: DC - 100% Mitchell-85% Bolivar-80% Livingston Academy-74% CPA-65% Fulton-63% Howard-46% Austin East-42% The ranking exactly matches geographical lines (West/Middle/East). Impressive that DC has never scored under 65 this year. Better be able to score to beat them. The west teams are, as a rule, higher scoring. Probably due to pressure, gambling defense that speeds the game up, in most cases. To beat them, you better be able to beat handle pressure. The east teams are lower scoring teams, so matchups between them and the west teams should be interesting to see the tempo.
  9. Heard an interesting rumor today that CPA and Antioch may schedule a scrimmage prior to the tourney. That would be interesting and certainly a great "tune up" for upcoming great competition they will meet.
  10. Keep thinking CPA is slow, or you could ask the Creekwood team and fans what that blur was.
  11. You obviously are not very familiar with CPA. THey are a man-to-man team primarily that loves to switch from 1/2 court man to full court pressure to double teaming the ball in the 1/2 court. They mix up their defenses and play zone only occassionally to force the opponent to prove they can shoot (because you won't drive and get inside shots much against Z). I would say they are 75% (at least) man-to-man. Their best defense is when they double the ball. They have the luxury of overplaying because if someone's man gets open inside, Z will contest or block the shot. A team's defense is what really shows how well they are coached. I'm sure all of the remaining 8 are well coached - I know CPA is.
  12. This year's tourney will have some really tight games with some surprises, upsets, and OT's, IMO. The team that wins 3 in a row will have to bring their A game each game, hope their opponent has an off night, avoid foul trouble, and hit FT's in the clutch. Tall order for any team, but that is what it will take to win 3 in a row among this group of teams. The east teams have played each other and mostly split those games, so we know they are closely matched. The only team I don't think can win it all is Mitchell, but I haven't seen them, just looked at their results this year. I am a CPA fan and want them to win, but I will not be surprised by any of the 8 winning it all.
  13. Wow, if we are going to respond to posts from one forum in another forum, CoachT will become very confusing /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. ksgovols, you have seen CPA, DC, and Bolivar. Are DC and Bolivar's strengths size or speed, or both?
  15. What other post said DC would have to adjust to CPA?? I didn't see that post.
  16. I pointed out a fact and YOU were the one who concluded from that Livingston Academy was an underdog-not me. I never said they were. I always have said they were good, even after CPA beat them. If they are "playing 10 times better now" as you say, they will win every game in the tourney by 40, and it won't matter who they draw.
  17. I know there is no seeding. That is why I wrote earlier: Simply trying to look at the season and "seed", in a sense, the teams based on this year's results. And I have not ignored Bolivar - just ranked the 8 "in my opinion" (again, please take time to read the posts). The rest of your post I agree with and have already posted that I believe any team in the Top 7 can win it all-including Bolivar.
  18. Gee - the Livingston Academy fans are so defensive. If you will take the time to read my previous posts, the 1 out of 8 I said I didn't think could win was the winner of the Mitchell/Haywood game. LA was one of the 7 I said could win, and I never said they were an underdog. What part of "Not big deal, just interesting" do you not understand?
  19. Another interesting 2 facts: -- CPA and DC are the only two teams in the final 8 that haven't lost to one of the final 8. -- Livingston Academy is the only team in the final 8 that has not beat a final 8 team. I think this is right, but I may have missed something. Not big deal, just interesting. Still say 7 of the 8 teams are all candidates to win it all.
  20. As I have said in previous posts, I believe all remaining 7 are capable of winning it all. I don't think Haywood or Mitchell will win based on this year's history. I am not dissing my team. I am saying I disagree with the ratings that, right now, IMO, should be as I stated. CPA has not played any Top teams in the final group except Livingston Academy, who they beat and I ranked 5th. I ranked DC and Austin East above CPA due to their results against the teams that are left. I love CPA's chances and I want them to win it all. Simply trying to look at the season and "seed", in a sense, the teams based on this year's results. Like you - I don't know who will win, but whoever it is will need to bring their "A game" every game.
  21. Still talking to myself, but....... noticed the Strength vs. Success rankings were pretty accurate in terms of teams going to the 'Boro with the exception of the winner of tonights game. Anderson County and BTW were in the Top 10 and are eliminated. Here they are with my opinion in ( ): 1- Howard (4) 2-DC (1) 3-Livingston Academy (5) 4-Fulton (6) 5-Austin East (2) 6-Bolivar (7) 8-CPA (3) 20-Haywood vs. 24-Mitchell (8)
  22. Did some research myself. Here goes: Austin East: Split 4 games with Fulton, split 2 games with Howard Fulton: Split 4 games with AE Howard: Split 2 games with AE So, AE is 3-3 against Fulton and Howard. These three teams seem fairly evenly matched. Livingston Academy lost to CPA at home Bolivar: Beat Haywood twice and Mitchell once. Lost to Dyer Co. Dyer Co.: Beat Bolivar and Haywood Mitchell: Lost to Bolivar and split 2 games with Haywood (not counting tomorrow) Haywood: Lost to Bolivar twice and DC. Split 2 games with Mitchell (not counting tomorrow) I believe this year's AA tourney will be the most competitive in many years. The East teams are all good and fairly equal, CPA is probably the class of Middle, DC is probably class of west. But any of the 8 are capable of winning, IMO, if they get hot or run into a better team having an off night
  23. Of the final 8 AA teams, who has already played each other and what were the results. The only one I know of was CPA beating Livingston Academy very early in the year.
  24. Not sure, but they had about 20 each. Probably did outscore Creekwood. CPA got a lot of pressure defense turnovers and steals with layups by Anderson, Peterson and Reeves.
  25. 1st quarter - CPA led 10-6. They actually dominated but couldn't convert some fastbreaks and Miller was cold shooting. Halftime - CPA led 29-10. Outscore Creekwood 19-4 in the quarter with smothering defense and Miller lighting up threes. By the end of the 3rd, CPA was up 30 or so. Pulled starters when up over 30 with about 5 minutes to go in the 4th. Creekwood guard hit 3 threes in a row to keep CW within 30. CPA's defense was smothering. There were times when Creekwood would go 3-4 possessions without a shot due to steals and forced turnovers. Good luck to the Lions in the state. The Final 8 teams are all really good and I believe anyone could get hot and win. It will take a big effort by someone to take home the gold ball.
