  1. i hope grace gets destroyed, go oliver springs(only time i will cheer for os)
  2. no come on is this not basically the same thing as d1 and d2, if u have three classes that makes three first place winners and even more bickering and arguing about who would win if they were combined, it is good like it is come on the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence but it may be better to stay where we r. the sport will grow on it's on with more and more schools having middle school and aau programs
  3. what large mohawk kid if it is the one i am thinking of he is a senior this year. grrenback lost only two seniors last year and have the best player in the distirct and probably the region out in center with baker, hopefully he will get a college offer with this season, he is good enough to. but from what i heard it should be harriman and greenback but don't count out rockwood experience may come with reminders of their tradition of going to the state tournament
  4. whether he can make weight or not the greenback 103 is tanner not josh
  5. there is a boy from greenback that is a senior named kaleb baker, that plays center that can flat out fly, i believe he was clocked at a 6.5 or 6.6 60 yard dash, and he hits for a very high average, the is one downside with the kid though not much of a power game. this kid could start about anywhere in east tennessee and be good there, he is one of the better players not many people other than in east tenn. single a have heard of
  6. mat back i have no clue about william blount but from what i saw of the halls j.v. and freshmen they have some fairly good kids in the waiting, but i am guessing just a down year. now maryville i can't explain cause they should have a good team and i was told that blake at 152 did not wrestle for maryville. when i was at "THE NATION" we had really competitive matches with both schools, and i hope it is like that again for the sake of wrestling in this area it needs more than Greenback and Seymour to keep people interested. i would like to add go NATION
  7. yeah i agree with old pirate but it is sometimes harder to get noticed if you are at a small 1a school like a midway or even greenback rather than a school like maryville
  8. i have only participated at this tournament one year but it was run to perfection, and had some very good wrestlers not only from tennessee but from virginia as well.
  9. don't know if u r still looking at this topic or not, but two years ago when i was in high school i took it upon myself and sent tapes and went to tryouts. make sure he is comfortable running the 40 and 60 yard dash, cause it is a solid part of it. but there are division 2 schools that could be a better fit than a d-1aa. like a tusculum carson newman or a lincoln memorial. possibly naia like king. hope this helps
  10. which class are u talking about or all east tennessee, cause greenback could be good this year. i believe rockwood lost almost everyone last year so this may be the open door that district was waiting for to knock roockwood down.
  11. the way i see it there are only a couple of weights locked up barring something catastrophic happening. 119 with biddy 125 with mr. boone, 135 with grahm, 171 with mr. young, 189 with croy, and 215 with patton. these guys are proven winners and they should win now they may be tested but they should come out on top. all the other weights could go to two three or even four young men so i can't predict that, but i would like to add go nation.
  12. u have to figure that the nation has a shot to have a state qualifier at almost every weight. silas and eddie will be hard to replace but if there is a coach that can find a way it is ridge. it would be nice to see bunkie wrestle again, last time i saw him wrestle was my 8th grade year, and he was impressive. good luck boys i will be there to cheer u on
  13. from what i know about last year's season this year was pretty good comparatively. aside from Quarrels at maryville, u would be hard pressed to find a better head coach than "wild bill." i know there were forces beyond his control at greenback that caused him to leave but you all have a great coach, just listen and u will improve in the years to come
  14. i have a problem with this topic the season is not even over yet. i could see if it was the week of the championship or semifinals, but come on now. anything can happen. sp or tc might not be there, after they play each other to what i have been told will be a very rough game. may be surprised the next week. a prime example of anything can happen is the new england patriots in the super bowl, but the giants played with guts and came out fired up. that may be what happens to either sp or tc. but let this week finish before any more predictions are made people, honestly
  15. greenback returns a lot of guys to look out for at state. to name a few sluder, jeremy miller, jackie miller, jess hooper, and well basically the whole team if they work hard like they have in the past
  16. vogt and bunkie will go both ways as will garner and glenn most likey, and the linmen will probabley play both sides as well. my senior year was the 1-9 year and glad to see the boys winning more games and getting the greenback tradition alive and well again. but to answer an earlier question about the backup qb, what i have been told vogt is the backup since mccloud moved to o-line. if that is wrong someone correct me, and i hope to watch the boys on the fridays i am home, they may be a year or two from getting bck to where we once were but the playoffs seem within reach this year. go kees
  17. i am not disagreeing with u i have heard nothing but good things about sexton and green, but maybe hold off on the mlb potential until junior or senior year. i wish the best to those outstanding athletes and hope to watching some tennessee boys in the pros oneday
  18. i could be worng but i think mcminn centrals catcher is a freshman
  19. before i entered college this year, my last four years of high school ball we always had this work at least once. we had a rosin bag on the mound and had a little team huddle and the first baseman or whichever basse we had a runner on took the ball and hid it in his glove and when the runner led off he got tagged out. the hidden ball trick works usually just make sure the pitcher is not on the rubber when u try this
  20. baker from greenback is one of the best outfielders i have seen in high school in a while, watch for him to be playing college ball in a couple of years
  21. how about some love for greenback, they returned some young talent from last year and we played well against rockwood in the tourney before losing to grace. smith is back and the number one pitcher, bish is also back, and they return aruguably the best centerfielder in the district maybe region in baker who got faster in the offseason. watch out fro the kees they only have three seniors like last year and now have a middle school team to filter into the high school. this team could be dangerous come tournament time
  22. i was not at the championship game but i was when grace played greenback at home. i was involved in a verbal dispute with one of graces parnets for me cheering on my friends during the game. needless to say with your fans u r almost as bad as c.a.k. with trash talking baseball and basketball players from greenback know what i am talking about. don't get me wrong the players from grace have class the parents and fans don't though. hey and bballforever don't let grace make u feel bad about living in a hicktown. i am off at tusculum college and i miss that little hicktown
  23. nice job greenback, sorry i was unable to make it to the game but bradley and bree said it was good. no matter what i will be there when y'all play substate. beat grace though guys. this should be a very hard fought game by both teams. the kees should play hard because like someone previously stated this is only the second time this has happened to the boys team. and that was 1985. if grace plays like they did when they traveled to greenback they will get beaten. also with the way greenback is shooting the ball, grace will have to do something it usually doesn't do that well defend against the shot
  24. nice job picking the semifinalists KHill1989. i agree with u on who u picked in the finals grace and greenback, but i think the greenback game will come down to how clower, denton, and titlow play in the post against a taller wartburg team
  25. with how the touney is, i say good job with people not picking district 3 teams. good job greenback keep wining and i will hopefuly come watch the championship game
