    8AA 2016

Ashley Redmon is probably one of the better pitchers that DC has had. Morgan Page was also pretty good.
  2. I was meaning Maynord. If she's not hitting her shots again it will be tough. And East will not let Greenwood drive to her hearts content. Bottom line is the three ball has to start falling for the U
  3. Very good defensive team. Can't wait to see how Levy raises her game again...she's going to need more help though.
  4. I think it'll be Levy, Lynn, and then Jones from Westview or Shutes in the last spot.
  5. Upperman isn't very big. But it sure is going to be fun watching Levy and Lynn battle tomorrow. I'll be pulling for 8AA but I feel like Lynn is going to be the better player tomorrow...
  6. She's always been prone to fouling. It was almost the worst time for it to happen again! Haywood looked shell shocked.
  7. Amazing fourth quarter performance by Levy. Heard the people next to me questioning why she got her Miss Basketball nomination until she took the game over.
  8. It was a great game to watch. I thought we were in trouble when Chew picked up three fouls in the first half and then gave up a 14 point lead in the third. But the girls scrapped and clawed. Loving the poise shown by the freshmen too. The deflection by #12 Parsley when we were up 3 essentially sealed the game. DC will be a tough out the next few years. I truly believe that. Tomorrow I'm just hoping we keep in competitive and maybe have a chance to pull an upset. Upperman is the only district foe that we haven't been competitive with at all though...
  9. Would like to see DeKalb back in the field. I think they have a decent chance...
  10. DC beats Cannon on a buzzer beater from Chew. 46-45. Great game to watch.
  11. Couldn't stop Levy. Think I heard someone say she had 30. Suprised she didn't have more.
  12. King at Smith. He and Huff are going to be a tough one two punch.
  13. Dodgen will be fine. He always had really good teams in Carthage too. Yes maybe the Sissoms helped him some in CC but he also made it to the glass house last year without one too. As far as it being "harder" to get to state where he's at, I would actually say "near impossible" with all the talent in the Boro right now. But oh well, you have to beat the best to be the best and I honestly believe that Dodgen will have Sparta at that point before long.
  14. Agree with the posts at LA. And King at Cannon when she gets back. DC has NO size inside and that will be a sticking point against the better teams. Really impressed with our three freshman though. I knew they had a good season at DMS last year but they have transitioned pretty well, and against some decent competition too. No, we haven't ran a gauntlet or anything, but this is toughest schedule to start the year out that we've had in a long time. Excited to see Levy Friday.
  15. First third and fourth quarter were competitive. The kicker was not scoring at all in the second and going to the half down by 17. Trimmed it to 9 maybe once in the third? Only bright spots this season are that we have a really good freshman (he had 23 of our 46 last night) and that this is the first year in a long time that we aren't graduating 4-7 seniors. We bring back three starters after this year. Agree with the weak schedule to this point though. District may be ugly. But we have some good young players.
  16. And so was Grundy, Tullahoma, Watertown, and even RBS. Not every game our ladies have played this year have been against cupcakes. They've played some decent competition early this year. I was honestly surprised at how much RBS had improved.
  17. Yeah I'm thinking it's going to be a good game. We have a pretty scrappy little team.
  18. Actually haven't watched them, but if the post player that played last year isn't playing like I've heard our chances are decent. She was the difference last year. I will say that I think our girls are slowly learning how to deal with our size disadvantage. Watertown had a MAJOR size advantage and we managed to come back to within one point late in the game. After being down 15-0 to start the game.
  19. DeKalb beat two pretty good teams Friday in Grundy and Tullahoma. Won their first two games Saturday and lost by three to a really good Watertown team. We are sorely in need of a post game but are solid everywhere else. Have three freshmen making a huge impact. We may surprise some people.
  20. Look for Elizabethton to be back, and hungry, after being put out last year. Upperman will be the head of the pack in the always tough 8-AA (Levy for MVP maybe?), but Livingston will be right there, Cannon still has sharpshooter Davis and a pretty good post in King, but will they be enough? And how will Dodgen's departure affect this season? McMinn Central will still have breakout star Jacobi Lynn. Could very well see them back. Westview still has their star point I'm assuming? She's a tough one. That's all I've got. Been a bit out of the loop...
  21. Last time we came we were told we couldn't use the horn if I remember correctly.

Barring a miracle, we've had another great season. Only losing one senior. I think we have a great chance at being back next year. I'd like to see us drop the Jackson County series next season and beef up the non-district schedule. Maybe pick up a tournament out in West Tn or down in Chattanooga. Stronger competition there.

We probably could've dealt with the walks if we hadn't left eleven runners stranded...
