  3. Instead of running The Commercial Appeal's box scores and polls, how about just putting the links to the scores and polls? The CA staff is doing the work and should get the web hits.

  6. Has she been battling injuries? Why would she need a rest when she has not played a game in six days prior to the sub-state game?
  7. Does anyone know why Lauren Avant did not play in Lausanne's game on Saturday? Is she injured?
  8. I think Bartlett moved ahead of Lausanne based on Lausanne losing to White Station. The last Dandy Dozen was before the Lynx lost to the Spartans in the Chubby Andrews Invitational. Bartlett has not loss to anyone locally, so they probably deserve to move up. With JJ they are capable of beating anyone, but also they can be beat. Millington looks to be in the right spot. They have lost to Central and Lausanne, but they have some quality wins. They have struggled at times, but they have done enough to deserve their ranking. Millington won the Collierville tourney, so what was wrong with the coverage? The best first-round game of the tourney was Fairley-Millington. Should the CA have covered the losers bracket games instead of the finals? White Station has some quality wins, but has losses to Overton and Houston -- two teams ranked in the lower half of the Dandy Dozen. Houston has played a tough schedule, but they still have 6 losses. You mention Overton, but they loss to Ridgeway which beat East. So, you can spin it however you like. Again, its just a poll and it will all play itself out, but I think the CA research is pretty accurate and its easy to bash on the local rag, but I think they are doing pretty good with their coverage of girls basketball.
  9. On The Commercial Appeal website... http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/...02/s3soccerweb/

  13. The Division 2 tournament begins tonight at ECS, but did the tournament really begin Saturday morning in the coaches meeting? The TSSAA lets each District or D2 Region set up its own tournament pairings. Most tournament pairings are set up using the regular season standings. But, because Briarcrest had to forfeit three regional games for using an ineligible player (the player played in rec games and is not one of the teams stars), they went from the top seed to being in the play-in game. So, the coaches and athletic directors had to decide how they wanted to do the seedings. Do they take in account the forfeits or not? Well, the schools that would benefit from not counting the forfeits (Briarcrest, CBHS and St. Benedict) voted to not count the forfeits, while ECS and MUS voted to count them. With the 3-2 vote, the forfeits were not consider. Should they have been? Or does it really matter? Does it send a message that if you break a rule you do not suffer any consequences? Again, should it matter? With forfeits CBHS 5-3 MUS 5-3 ECS 4-4 SBA 3-5 BCS 3-5 Without forfeits BCS 6-2 CBHS 5-3 MUS 4-4 ECS 3-5 SBA 2-6
