  1. So the issue is not the "open zone", it is a lack of TSSAA's ability or willingness to enforce rules?
  2. Help me with something here. Are "open zone" schools still restricted to the county in which they are located?
  3. Appreciate the clarification. It seems like you are trying to temper the CC enthusiasm. It may be warranted but I can see why they are hopeful. Do you feel the same about your team? Are they improving?
  4. You may be correct. I don't know how good CC will be this year. The important thing for any team is to get better. Just like WC last year, CC is putting a lot of hope into the new coach. If they can keep him from moving in, they may get the improvements they hope for. As for "better than most", I guess it comes down to who is in the "most".
  5. I don't think you can compare this year's eventual record with previous year's records due to the change in competition. Much like Warren County, CC's mountain to climb has gone from Monteagle to Everest. The WC / CC game might determine last place.
  6. Despite the supposed soap opera going on over at Riverdale, they should handle the Rebels pretty handily Friday night. Overall, Franklin is small (some have said slow as well) and inexperienced. Defensive Line and Special Teams are the strongest units of the team. The O-Line is slow off the ball and got beat almost every play last week. I hope they can make big improvements before Friday night. It is a little harder to gauge the players behind them until they give some better blocking up front. The guys are giving effort and I expect they will get better with game experience. I hope the Riverdale parents/fans have a safe trip over to Franklin and back home. If you are coming in from 96 and up Hillsboro, you may want to park in the lot behind the school as it is much easier to exit right. The entrance road is just south of the school and appears you are going into a neighborhood. Looking forward to an improved Franklin team from week one but I think Riverdale has the better team right now.
  7. I think WC needs more time to develop. I hope I am wrong.
  8. Oakland 21-10 Riverdale 35 - 6 Siegel 24-21 Blackman 21-17 Smyrna 28-21 Cookeville 35-10 Lebanon 10-3 CC 21-20
  9. George, I appreciate what you have said about your friend, the O-Line coach. I must say that I was disappointed at the level of competition for that game. I hope the players are mad about the loss and are not accepting it lightly. We all need to continue to support the efforts of the players and coaches.
  10. Well, that is true sometimes. Rankin was a cocky young coach back then but a fair coach that earned my respect. Sorry for the misspelling of his name earlier. Either spell check or old age.
  11. Pulling for Alcoa in this one. Had Ranking as a position coach years ago and it's hard to cheer against him.
  12. Ravenwood has the better team this year.
  13. As high school football fans, we always want to see a great game between heavyweights. As a coach, you get paid to win games. It is not about what teams you beat in the season unless it puts you in a better playoff position. It is about winning the one at the end. Maryville has a system that works, so, I can't blame them for sticking with it.
  14. FHS has been populated primarily by Grassland for many years. This is nothing new and is not related to some grand scheme of parents. As seen from the Summit scrimmage, Franklin is small and not very experienced. I did expect a better performance Friday night. CHS dominated the game in most areas. I thought the FHS defensive line and special teams played well. The O-line was getting beat on almost every play. I don't see either FHS or CHS winning this Friday.
  15. Congrats to the Tigers for the win this year. WC still has much work to do.
  16. I have to agree with both of those. Franklin - Centennial is the rival game and should be a great game. Brentwood is hungry for a win and excited to have their coach back.
  17. That is true. From what little film I have seen, he is a decent passer as well. Again, I don't see the Pioneers shutting him down but they should be able to defend him.
  18. Jennings looks pretty good both running and passing. Good discipline should be able to contain him though.
  19. Hey thanks! I will be at the Franklin-Centennial game. I will need to see if they are on TuneIn.
  20. I listened to the Indians broadcast last night (1st half). I focused on the QB play. It sounded like DB was better prepared and had little first game jitters. As others have said, I was impressed with the lack of penalties. Beyond that, just the Center to QB to RB exchanges seemed to flow pretty well. This is one area that TH seemed to struggle with. The DB QB sure sounds like a run threat. I hope DB will open up the passing a little more as the season progresses and Defenses allow. Overall, I was impressed with DB and TH is still working through some game time issues. Another point that has already been made but I want to mention is the impressive night the DB kicker had. That guy will get a scholly somewhere. Again, I listened (broadcast feed quality is poor) to the first half, so, I might have missed other important takeaways.
  21. Great to hear about the community support! I wish I could be there tonight. Is the game being broadcast on WAKI?
  22. I am not sure. As reported, the team seems to have determination and that is a start.
  23. Would be a heck of a game to start the season. I just ask that you change the ending to a WC win.
  24. Completely based on comments, but I give the edge to the Owls.
