I disagree with the awesome atmosphere. I coached in a game there once and had to deal with melrose people trying to come onto our sideline, their fans (grown 50 yr old men) trying to fight our kids and not to mention the funny smelling cloud that hung over the stadium. I like the way they are for their team and some other city school teams could take a FEW notes, but not a place I would let my wife and son come watch me coach at.

What does Melrose have coming back? I heard Fairley did really well at Briarcrest's 7 on 7 tournament this past weekend.

The helmet is more of a yellow color with a black stripe and the Knights logo if I can remember correctly. And when I coached at Westwood last they were carolina blue with the red texas longhorn. Raleigh Egypt has a red hemlet with a pharaoh.

Craigmont's helmet looks like Riverdale's except the helmet itself is maroon.

I think he is a pretty good looking back. Very shifty and a good inside/outside runner. Plays in a good region also. Maybe MAC, WAC, Sun Belt , Conference USA type of kid. Does he have any offers?

Anybody breathing a sigh of relief in Region 7-5A about the dismissal of Coach T from Ridgeway or were you all not worried?

How did the scrimmage with Frayser go the other day GoCHiefs? I heard you all looked pretty good for the second time this spring. Big things from the Chiefs in '08'? How is the quarterback situation looking now after the second scrimmage?

I talked to their offensive coordinator and he said the quarterback they have can run this new no huddle offense. He said he is better than the one they had last year. I think they actually may be brothers. I do think that Cordova can definitely make it to the playoffs if they can get this offense down. Cordova usually has a decent defense.

How about Cordova? I do agree that the defensive coordinator that you guys have is a good one. I have sat down and talked football with him many a times and he definitely knows his stuff. I hope the kids buy into the system and learn it because if they do you guys will be much improved on the defensive side of the ball.

Heard yall got a new defensive coordinator? How do you think yall will look in the fall? What region order?

Finding the quarterback will be the key. For the past 4 years the QB position has been one of the strong points of the offense. This will be the first year in quite some time that Van Hooks will have to find a new one. The other question mark will be at linebacker.

I heard he doesn't trade film he gets it from other coaches. When do yall play them?

Yes Tim Thompson is negative but it also depends on who he is playing because when I coached in the city we scrimmaged him every year during the spring when he was at fayette and he was always cool with us, but I think it is because we were a city team.

I have heard the same thing. I have also heard the folks out in Somerville are pretty ticked off when they finally realized how he was really running the program. The recruiting will always happen in Memphis. Heard a coach one time tell me that a guy from tssaa told him they would be broke if they investigated all the claims of recruiting in Memphis.

I hear Bartlett had a good spring as well. They have a new defensive coordinator so there may be a bit of learning having to take place at first but I think they are still running the same defense though. I look for Millington, Bartlett and Bolton to be right there with Cordova maybe making a push for second or third. Arlington lost a lot but have a good coaching staff they are just going to be a young team next year and if Ridgeway gets their recruiting done in time they should be a factor as well. Craigmont lost a lot of players but do bring back probably the best returning WR in the region.

It sure doesnt seem like people like to talk about football in our area on this thing.

Has White Station still not hired a coach yet? If not I believe them waiting so long is going to maybe hurt the program since these coaches are starting to raid them.

Coached against Millington this year and their wing t was one of the best I had seen in a while, dont know if they would have beat Smyrna although they had Independence there for about 3 quarters. Not a fan of the wing t I am young coach and I enjoy throwing the ball all over the yard like the Hoovers and Byrnes' of the world. Wing t just to boring for me.

If Easterwood is the same kid from Christian Brothers, we played against him last year and he was a pretty good player with good fundamentals not to mention from a good program which produces quality linemen. The Aubrey kid plays in a region that is not the strongest in 2A. He is just really big although he does have a mean streak to him, but he is still raw.

Yeah I hear the puff daddy of football is recruiting real hard over there.

How is region 7-5A looking for next year?
