  1. U heard wrong. Arlington is not planning a big celebration IF we go undefeated at the freshman and varsity level. We are taking things one game at a time. No bulletin board material here.
  2. Wonder if they will go with a younger or older coach? Coaches from Middle or East TN? Wayne Randall? Interesting to see who gets it. Should be a good job to have.
  3. Maybe after the city schools get them, the county will see how awesome they are and want to get them to.
  4. I hope if I ever get a chance down the road to be a head coach I can stay at one place for as long as he did. I bet there will be a lot of interest in the job. There are a lot of assistant coaches at good programs ready to take a shot.
  5. Looks like in 2 weeks it will be for the district title against the Trojans!!!
  6. Good luck to everyone tonight, especially the Tigers of Arlington. I also just saw that Westwood beat MAHS last night, so that puts them in the playoffs with just one win. Thought this new playoff system was supposed to eliminate that kinda thing. Well anyway I will be pulling for them since I pull for all Memphis teams in the playoffs if they are playing someone not from the area of course. I will be on here later tonight to give a complete unbiased analysis of the game for KWC, TraderB and the Millington people that will not be able to attend the game.
  7. Hopefully you are correct onefortheteam since our freshmen team is killing people. Our FR QB has as many tds as Poole does. They have not played a close game yet. Should be a good one this week at Germantown. Everybody is right, we have not played anybody nor do we have the tradition of some teams, but we are getting there this season. We are having a great season so far, we are 8-0 and hopefully we can keep improving and go far in the playoffs. I am not going to debate anymore about our schedule b/c it is not going to change opinions of some people. We will just have to keep winning. We are 8-0 and so far that cannot be taken from us. We are in the playoffs for the 2nd time in school history and that cannot be taken from us. We have a good school with good kids and a good coaching staff and I am having a blast coaching this year. So sorry if I have gotten irritated at some of the people on here. I sincerely apologize, everyone is entitled to their opinions. Millington fans come on over to our place and enjoy what should be an awesome game between two good teams.
  8. I would have to say yes I am attached to my team. I spend hours every week with these kids and see how hard they bust their tails every day in practice to be 8-0. I guess that is why it ticks me off to hear people say we havent played anybody, but like someone said this is just a fan forum. Most people who talk on here really have no clue what goes on. Millington give your selves a pat on the back for going out and playing a tough schedule. Overton approached us after last year and said lets play, Frayser wanted to play, Raleigh Egypt is in our district, Westwood is the only team I think people can talk about, but hey doesnt everyone usually play someone they think they can beat for homecoming. Millington beat Bolton and Cordova, the same teams we beat. When you are 1-9, teams want to play you.
  9. They actually have a Mr Football for the best kicker in the state.
  10. I really do not have a dog in this fight, but the offense that Wilson Central "bought", is actually a really good offense. Here in West Tenn, MUS won a state title with it this year and may win another one, Brighton was annually a 6 or 7 win team until they started running this last year and they went 9-2 and Dyer Co was not very good and they started running this and won a region title. Yeah they are struggling with it this year, but have been good running it. Also this is the same offense that Hoover in AL ran all those years, not comparing WC to Hoover just saying there are teams having success running this offense bought off the street which I do not think is embarassing at all and I do not think MUS fans think so either. The thing is there are so many little things you have to coach up b/c the offense is pretty complex with all the things you can do out of it.
  11. Guess you are right. This would be a tough site for coaches to get on here and post things about. This is definitely a fan discussion. Some on here do disrespect us and some do not, but it is okay. I am not going to post anymore stuff about anything else I will just sit back and read what the "experts", the fans, have to say about everything. When you say things like staring 2-8 or 3-7 in the face and then things like we are going to bust their bubble then can you not see how it would get someone riled up, but I guess if I know Rob M I would know he is just messing around or whatever and I was not trying to use a certain psychological factor, I was just simply going on the history of the year so far. Everybody says were going to lose to this team or that and when we win "well they were not good anyway" so I was just telling GoCHiefs that if history is right so far then if we win then they will not be good either.
  12. Another thing GoChiefs get ready for it b/c if we beat yall then all of the sudden yall will be sorry too. Then you guys will get grouped with the Overtons, Fraysers and so forth.
  13. I am glad you think it is comical Rob M. The same guy who said "they can dream a little dream staring 2-8, 3-7 in the face." Fact is we have beaten everyone we were supposed to play. We may not be the best around, but I do think we have a good team. The thing is nobody from Arlington has gotten on here and disrespected anybody from Millington. We think you guys have a good team over there. Disrespecting other teams just makes people look obnoxious.
  14. Yeah Joe Jones is a stud if he were taller then he would be a Division 1 player for sure. GoChiefs yall have a good one.
  15. The ref said he touched the ball, but was blocked into it. Maybe he was maybe he wasnt. I do know this like I have always said one play does not make a game. Maybe they get the ball on the punt and score or maybe they get the ball and fumble or Baker throws a pick or if if if if if if. What if Poole is sacked on the 1st td pass or there arent a ton of late hits or personal fouls or maybe Tornabene doesnt run for a 1st down or catch one for a 1st down or what if Baker doesnt throw that pick to Culbreath on Cordova's sideline. See the pattern here. Plays make a game not one call. Yes it is easy to say well they would have scored had the ball been awarded to the Wolves, but that is pure speculation.
  16. Didnt know if anybody had started this topic or not cause I could not find it. I would like to hear people's opninions of who they think are deserving. I am partial to our QB at Arlington. We are currently 8-0 and our QB has thrown for around 1600 yds or so and 24 tds to 5 ints. His name is Adam Poole and he is the leading passer in the Memphis area. What are your thoughts from across the state?
  17. It is actually a rule. I guess they way they see it is to get a player to touch a ball on a punt all you would have to do is push a player into it to get the ball back. I agree that calls have an impact on games, but I do not think they are causes for wins or losses. There are plays that occur during games that the average fan may take for granted such as a stop on third down or incomplete pass. A couple of weeks ago against Bolton I felt that the some of the calls were horrible, but they were not the reason we struggled offensively. Bolton had a good scheme and played us well. I will never blame the refs for a win or loss, so even if our guy touched the ball intentionally, which he didnt, then that one play did not make the outcome. Anyway the game is in the books and we are more than worried about a really good Craigmont Chief team.
  18. It was actually kinda hard to tell on film after watching it and I didnt see it when it happened because I was walking or maneuvering my way down our sideline that was nothing more than a boggy marsh. Now as for the personal foul calls, they were legit.
  19. No Cordova was not the victim of home cooking. Yes there was one play where the ball hit our player on a punt and we still got the ball, but the ref told us that he was blocked into the ball. As for the personal fouls, they were pretty obvious. The thing is this is our 8th game and this is the first time we have gotten any calls, home or away. Cordova played and fought hard. It was a fun game to be a part of and luckily we came out with the W, but Cordova is still a good football team.
  20. Hopefully the rain stays away and we can have a good crowd. Last Friday against Cordova our crowd was not as good because of the rain. I do agree with ya GoChiefs this will be a great matchup and I am looking forward to practice this week and the game Friday. Go Tigers!!
  21. We won a dogfight tonight at Arlington 22-6. Cordova is a tough team. I know they were 3-3, but they have some good players and are pretty physical. Tough going for both teams tonight and costly penalties really hurt the Wolves all night. I dont think we had a great night offensively, but the defense carried us again. Right now I think our defense is playing as well as anybody and we are going to need them next week against Craigmont. The good thing is we clinched a playoff berth tonight, so everybody who has been counting us out, count us in now!!! Go Tigers!!
  22. Think his name is Marcus Rogers maybe....came from Fairley?
  23. I would have to agree with my Munford buddies, BMack and Go Chiefs, Dernice was by far one of the best backs I have ever seen in high school. I have coached against Graig Cooper, Travis Simpson, both Crawford brothers, and some others and not to mention the ones I have seen on tape and he was very exceptional. People may not think the backs I have just mention were that good, but in my opinion they were. Dernice did get screwed by the University of Memphis and maybe that is why they did not start going to bowl games until West took over. Dernice is giving back though, he is the RB coach at Cordova Middle I believe.
  24. I also did not say you all were making excuses and I guess I was understood in my post by most Millington fans with the exception of one. Hey I think it is great that you all love your team, I still pull for Munford and I will always be a Cougar. The M and M Bowl still trips me out, but hey maybe one of these days Munford can win some. LIke I have always said "wish there was an M and M Bowl during the 97 season", and there is newlywed love for Arlington BECAUSE IT IS A NEW SCHOOL!! 3RD YEAR OF VARSITY FOOTBALL!! I do have to admit that I think there is starting to be a mutual respectful hatred brewing between the schools and I do not see anything wrong with that at all. I wish some people other than Millington and Arlington fans would get on here and chat about their teams. Sorry GoChiefs forgot about you buddy.
