  1. I'm not sure he did anything to get "his Oak Ridge rematch," since he had no way of knowing both teams would make the finals of the Greeneville tournament. Also, from reading the messages from several Bradley Central posters I get the feeling that they feel since they beat the Lady Wildcats in December they will beat them in March if they play. It doesn't work that way. All that said, I don't know if Oak Ridge will even make it to the Boro. Bearden, Maryville, Hardin Valley, Morristown West and others could stop them on any given night. I just pray and hope they make it.
  2. One of these boys could be Underwood. I should also guess SS might be in one of the two pictures. On a side note, #24 reminds me of Oscar Gamble the pro baseball player.
  3. Not so fast my good man. Oak Ridge is loaded in fast skill players and returns an experienced QB. You would expect me to mention Tee Higgins is gone and that does hurt A LOT but finding OL/DL and LBs are probably of more concern. The kicking game will be solid. However if people want to sleep on Oak Ridge that is fine by me since polls are just sticks stuck in the ground.
  4. Well, I am guessing these are the boys who would grow up to be on the 1991 State Champions so could we be looking at Summers. Thrift, Turner and Booker? This is fun so don't tell the answer right away give more people time to guess. I sure wish I had one of the team pictures I was in from Cedar Hill Elementary School. The guys I played with were back ups on the 1979 and 1980 State Champions. I didn't go to Cedar Hill, I attended St. Mary's but was zoned for CHES.
  5. We are lucky to have David in Oak Ridge. He is already in the Oak Ridge Sports Hall of Fame and he deserves to be in several more like the TSSAA Hall. I wonder if Knoxville Central would put him in the Boom Big Stick/You did that one too many times Todd Helton Hall. Now that was funny
  6. Good job SS. Is it true Papa Bounder was at every one of those games? LOL (kidding papa)
  7. What a mess of a post! I thought about editing it but couldn't figure where to start. I did like the part about the bet. Classic Willie lol.
  8. I give Riverdale all the respect in the world but do not hate them or wish them ill will. As an Oak Ridge fan, I do not fear them. Yes, I remember watching the Riverdale win in the state title game. However, I do take you saying Oak Ridge provided you with your laugh of the day to be disrespectful. Oak Ridge is a tradition rich proud lady basketball team. To think other wise may just bite you in the rear. In fact, I am so sure Oak Ridge will win state that I will bet your car on it. IF OR wins, I get your car, if Riverdale wins you get to keep your car. Deal?
  9. I would have said you were crazy about Oak Ridge losing before the Boro then Fulton upset them. Granted, the refs were bad but you still have to be good enough to beat a good team no matter about the refs. That said, OR will bounce back and come out focused and determined.
  10. Go to Graham's Twitter page, look for a tweet about Curious Cat and submit your question to him. He will respond pretty quickly.
  11. Excellent selection in Tajion Jones of Oak Ridge. He has improved his game all season long.
  12. I will still go with Tajion but Tee Higgins is finally rounding into basketball shape. I sure hope Oak Ridge makes it to state so everybody can get to see him play. It is pure joy.
  13. I was able to watch this game on the computer. I find a web site in a twitter post that had the web site for a company that carries most Knoxville hs basketball games. I think it was called diamondclearmedia.com. Boy did the Cats shoot lights out from three point range making 15 3s. Tee pulled down 19 rebounds and scored 19 points and he may have been the third best Oak Ridge player on the night. Juat a joy to finally see the team play and just not listen to the games on prepradio.com. Speaking of prepradio I hope David Clary gets to see the Falcons win tomorrow. I am a Titan fan but will Rise Up on Sunday for the ATL.
  14. I stilled lived in Oak Ridge when Jason played and saw almost all of his games. He has tremendous speed and was certainly an athlete with a huge upside that he reached at Alabama and the NFL. He did drop a few passes when wide open but made the more difficult ones. I remember his senior year he dropped two would be TDs down at Rhea County on a Thursday night. I sat behind him and Mike Gipson at the Farragut game the next night and he was still upset about the drops and Mike was trying to get him to get over it that he still had faith in him. Higgins on the other hand has the ability to catch almost everything thrown his way, the low ball and especially the high pass thrown in traffic. Jason was faster but Tee was able to gain yardage after the catch, too. Higgins was also a better return man than Jason and a much better DB than Jason. To be fair to Jason, I don't think he was actually called on to play defense so that comparison may be mute. To me advantage goes to Tee. Now, the best player I saw was Summers. A monster on defense and I stud running back. The fact he led us to the 1991 State Championship will always cause me to place him number one over players like Gulmire, Bohanon and Higgins.. Gosh, it feels so good to talk/debate Oak Ridge football again.
  15. As an N.C. State basketball fan, I think Allen is a disgrace to himself and university. I loved Lattner but this young man just doesn't get playing with hustle and emotion and juvenile antics. Sorry, I probably should have kept my opinions to myself. Oh, I know I said I am a State hoop fan but you know who I LOVE in football. They wear purple, white and orange. That is correct, for the next 4 years I'm driving the Clemson bandwagon..
  16. I am officially the slowest, most dim witted person on CoachT. I did not get this post for several days. I just stared at Dolly and recalled the HUGE crush I had on her as a kid.
  17. This warms my heart. Grandpa Bounder, making sure the traditions at Oak Ridge are carried on through his grand daughter. Just yet another example of why Oak Ridge is so special. Now, if the powers that be would listen to Bounder and fix all the problems at Blankenship the world would be right again.
  18. Just remember Jordan did not say anything on this board, I said something that I read. I do not want him to be criticized on here for something I said. He is a kid doing great things for ORHS.
  19. I remember there was a time when Cumberland County was so well coached it was a joy to watch them play. One night, the Lady Jets flew into Oak Ridge and just whipped the Lady Cats. Of course, OR used the loss to get better. Sorry to hear they might be down. Oak Ridge went through a down period too.
  20. I see a Maryville vs Oak Ridge matchup looming. Should be a game not for the weak of heart.
  21. According to the media, the State of Tennessee has approved a $500,000 grant to Oak Ridge for the installation of synthetic turf. I t should be ready for the 2017 season, RWR! I also read yesterday a tweet by Jordan Graham that he wanted a jumbo Tron instead of the turf. Lets just hope he changes his mind when he sees his 4.48 speed in the 40 yard dash is even faster on the new surface. I really believe Sweet Feet will work hard at track this spring and be even more dangerous next fall. He may just use his junior year to springboard into the elite national running backs. Good luck Jordan we are behind you. RWR!
  22. BUMP.... I have sort of taken over this tread and made it a trip down memory lane. I would love to read what other players have left an impression on Tennessee Girls Basketball fans. I haven't spoke of Jennifer McGinnis of Oak Ridge and Duke University fame. She was a strong solid body who hustled all the time, fought for loose balls, rebounded with a passion and had a soft three point shot. She was not recruited by Tennessee because Pat decided to go after Oneida's name is on the tip of my tongue but won't come out lol. Pat and OR coach Jill Prudden were friends but Pat let a slew of talented Lady Wildcats go. Only Caldwell got the Orange ticket to Knoxville. Caldwell was a great player and is doing a great job being one of Pat's former players turned coach. Most people don't know this but Pat did recruit a person from OR who turned her down. She offered Coach Prudden a job as a recruiter/coach for the Lady Vols. We held out breath hoping to keep our coach and she ended up staying at the high school level. Still can't remember the Oneida girl's name. HELP. Starts with an L I think.
