  1. The school is located off Ooltewah/Ringgold Road, right at the end of East Brainerd Road. I believe the school was started about the same time that Signal Mtn was. If that tells you anything, Signal was a school last year with full athletic facilities. School is about 3 miles from my house. Checked it out before deciding to send little one to Boyd. Rumors I hear? Community has not absorbed the school near as much as Signal did. Athletic facilies and funding for them are dragging, and way behind what was anticipated. Keep in mind those are strickly comments I hear. I did check the athletic facilites out, and was unable to find anything at all that resembeled outside facilities (ie., no lights for fields, bunches of open, unfinished grounds). Privates can be expensive. Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you don't.
  2. Kinda weird me reading about Boyd, but since things went South at David Brainerd, I've got to switch my loyality somewhere! Older son just graduated from DB (fortunately) and is continuning his career at the college level. Younger son just enrolled at Boyd. Only a 6th grader, but very big and strong for his age. Enjoys football and all sports, and wants to be like his big brother! Was very impressed at the Open House last night with admin, teachers, coaches, etc... but even more impressive was the attitude towards athletics.... it was very important... I haven't seen that side of a school before, other than my days in High School 36 years ago! Glad to be a Buc, and hope son can contribute down the road..... Looking forward to Friday nights with some impressive teams on the field...
  3. It was a shock to all of the Chattanooga community, including myself, a long time supporter of the school since day one. I'm inclined to believe there is more to the story than just low enrollment. It's amazing how we could go from record enrollment (235+) to this. Fortunately, my son graduated and will be continuing his football career in college. My heart goes out to the upcoming Seniors and coaches/staff. That will be a difficult transition no matter where they end up.
  4. As a long time supporter of the school, it just basically stinks. It's hard to believe that a school can go from where it was last year to nothing in that short of a time. I hate it for the athletes, especially the ones who have been there for a long time. Fortunately, mine graduated this year and is moving on. My little one (6th grader) is heart broken, and just does not know about any other school. Struggling where to send him, but like his brother, football is at his heart. Leaning towards Silverdale (which is really, really hard to even say). Tough situations in tough times....
  5. Knew it was just a matter of time. Just don't believe it's in his cards to have to deal with the state of the athletic program at Temle now. I wish him and his family well..
  6. Wouldn't be surprising....would just be another example of how Temple can bamboozle the rules. With the economy the way it is, most academic minded schools should be more fascinated about just obtaining students, not looking for a few athletes who might help you win a few high school basketball games, something nobody will know or care about 5 years down the road.
  7. Yea, it was in the paper this morning. Looks like Grace lost it in the 1st inning... Could be wrong, but I think DB is regular season 'champ' for 2nd year in a row and gets #1 seed in tourney. I'm sure that will start a bunch of negative crap!
  8. You just can't help yourself, can you. Football and basketball are both over now. Let's compare Temple and DB next year in both those sports.
  9. You are absolutely correct. DB and others above board pursue new 'students' through an established, approved and ethical process, not ATHLETES. If they happen to be a good athlete, fine.
  10. Guess David Brainerd fans can take that as an apology. DB has never received much respect at all, and I'm not saying they deserve tons of it either so far. However, they have made some stides in some other areas, maybe not in the major sports of football and basketball so far, but that might eventually come.
  11. Pretty hard on DBdad09 aren't you? He was just stating his opinion. Also pretty negative comments about DB. Let's compare some football,,,oh, you don't have a program.... let's compare our Track program,,, oh, you don't have a program,,, let's compare our Golf team.... oh, you you don't have a team....Maybe you should do some research yourself before bashing another about the state of a program in which you have absolutely no clue.... Track? Let's see, DB ran a 4x100 in the 44 second range, probably good enough to make the Best of Preps top 8 teams this year.... let's see, they had a guy high jump 6 feet, probably good enough again to make Best of Preps again.... sorry, you probably don't even know what the Best Of Preps event is? It's that thing down at McCallie where they invite the top 8 best around for a track meet? Oh well, I'm just some goof ball from David Brainerd that does not know anything about sports... sorry... gosh, since DB people know nothing, I must say I at least know we had a girl finish 5th in the girls Cross Country State Championship(oh, another thing they don't do at Temple) and the team came in 10th in the entire STATE last fall in the State Championship..... oh well...gosh, I keep forgetting things.. seems like our Soccer team (again, sorry, that stuff they don't do at Temple), has a winning record this year and just beat McMinn Co.. a top contender in the Region, 2-1.... let me think some more and I'm sure something else will come up...
  12. Ouch, sounds like a little resentment towards the guard from your school? You must have something to do with Grace, or you would not know the stats so vividly..... most polls I've seen around here, at least local, are ridiculous.... He didn't even make Best of Preps in the city, not even the 2nd team, which was also a joke! (just like the football Preps was).... The center was much more an overall positive contributor to Grace than anyone else on the team (rebounds, defense, inside presence, intensity, etc...). I wish him well at Charleston Southern..
  13. I believe you were the one who said "we are ready for DB"? Sounds like they might have your attention as well? That's the point of my post. I don't hate Grace or any other school..... the only point was reading the previous posts was just nothing except Grace making excuses about why they lost, which is typical. When/if DB loses to Grace, guarantee you will never see anyone making excuses, or blaming the coach, etc.... That's not their style. Maybe you can give me some spelling lessons on the word 'pitcher'. When I can spell it correctly, guess than means you automatically qualify as 'baseball knowledgeable'?
  14. Well, all I know is I have seen a trophy DB received for Regular Season champs from last year in our lobby. Guess the tie-breaker rules meant that David Brainerd did actually win? Let's see, did Grace even have a baseball team in their 6th year of existence, which was about 15 years or so ago? I'm glad to read on this thread that some posts, using their own words, 'fear', 'ready for DB', etc... when it comes to DB baseball this year. Guess you could call that progress. It must have been tough to watch a 7-1 drubbing on your home field...
