Powell beat Central this morning 9-0.

I have to go with Oak Ridge on that side. But I would pick Powell before Central.

I am glad to see Seymour have the success they are having this year. I have only seen them play once and that was a pre-season game against Powell. Powell lead 3-0 until about 15 minutes left in the game when the Powell coach took out the entire varsity and Seymour scored 3 goals against the JV. I say this because Powell has never been a strong program so I did not expect to see them have this kind of record this early along with a quality win over Oak Ridge. I wish the Eagles the best of luck this year

We all know who the strongest teams in knoxville are. Tradition shows this year after year but I would like to know if there are any teams out there that could suprise us.

I was not going to comment about the "dirty hit" on the OR player because I was not at the game until the remark about the Powell coach. I have been a ref in this area for quite a while and have been involved in many games with Powell. This coach is one of the best up and coming coaches in the area and I can say without a doubt he is not that kind of coach.

To my knowledge the Powell keeper is just a soph. That kid is unreal, I understand that the game was tied after regulation after he had saved over twenty shots on goal. He is going to be fun to watch for a couple of more years.

I agree with you 100%. Some of these numbers that show up in the paper as saves are crazy. Some coaches that report these saves must count any ball that the keeper touches as a save.

Powell 4 Seymour 1

The powell vs seymour game should be a very close game and could go either way. I did see seymour play at the Katie Hunter and they looked strong in that game. Powell has quite a bit of talent but has not been able to put the ball in the net. I would hate to have to pick a winner.

Respect is earned not given, that goes for coaches ,players and parents. I would like to ask mano a question. Lets make this hypothetical, if your daughter played for any coach who showed characteristics that are against your opinion of good ethics, and judgement as a parent. Do you as a parent support this coach no matter what? It looks like by reading this site that a lot of posters make the Powell parents out to be some kind of problem. I know for a fact that they are a good bunch of parents that work hard to support there team. I just don't think you can automatically have the opinion of support your coach ,no matter what.

I really am not that familiar with the teams in the Chatt area, so I have know idea how strong ND is but after watching Webb in the jamboree it is evident they are extremely weak this year. I watched them play Powell's jv and it ended in a 1-1 tie, they only had 12 players then.

I think the Clinton playday was last weekend. Does anyone know who was in it or results?

In all my years of coaching different sports I have never witnessed a team when every parent or player was 100% happy with a coach. This is hard to understand but very true, some player is not getting enough playing time or one player is in the wrong position. A coach in the end makes that determination win, lose or draw and the players and fans either live with it or leave. My response to your post was made because you made it seem that the Powell players and parents can't be happy with a coach. They seem to be very happy with their club coach and the majority were happy when Harvey was there. I don't have a daughter on the team but I do have a very close family friend whose daughter plays. I have known Harvey for years, even before he started teaching and coaching, I am very close to the program and keep in touch. My daughter plays for another school in knoxville and the same conversations go on in reference to her coach.

I think the key statement there is "outside looking in". If you really knew the details you would know that 99% of the girls and parents were fine with Harvey. There was one family that had a problem and ruined it for the whole team. I'm sure if you asked the players and parents last year or this year they would tell you the same thing. Harvey was as you say "ran off" when the system failed by allowing one family to do him in. To imply Harvey was gone because of parents and kids being unhappy with line-ups or playing time is just stupid.

The score was 1-1. Knowing people close to the program it seems the Powell program is on the verge of falling apart. All coaches have their styles of coaching, if this were a college program the girls could base their decision on a school and pick what program or coach best fits them. High school players don't have option. I'm saying that because it seems that some of the Powell players are very unhappy. There is alot of talent on that team to have a wasted season because of a coach trying to put his mark on a team. I wouldn't be suprised if Powell doesn't have some players decide to leave. What a shame.

I don't personally have a girl on Powells team but I have a good friend who has a daughter on the team. The great keeper you mentioned has only been to one workout all summer and was not at practice last week at all. She has not made a lot of friends by walking in at the last minute and not working out with the team this summer. Powell had and all district keeper last year that is returning. I guess what I'm saying is if Powell is going to improve this year it needs to be on the offensive side to put the ball in the net.

I'm sure Farragut and Bearden will be very successful as always. But the fact that someone like that can run someone in the ground for making a prediction and turn right around and put their team in the playoffs in the same sentence. That is why this site is so funny to read.

Sounds like you have your team in the playoffs already also. I guess theres no possibility your team could be upset this year.

Trans am may have a good point. There is always a chance for an upcoming team to pull an upset or two in a season. I really don't have a dog in this race but isn't that the reason the games are played. Sounds like some teams fan thinks if they just show up they will win the whole thing.

so overall how did the rezoning effect the Karns team? Do you think Hardin Valley will be ready to compete in their first year?
