  1. been posting on board ror several sports for several girls for to many years and its fun. high school sports is supposed to be fun. its supposed to be about the kids. i have yet to kick. shoot. spike or overhead slam a ball. or work as hard as these kids work. i saw my first soccer game today since chattanooga, after 7 years of club 4 years of high school 3 rings and countless trips to physical therapy, she's done and so am i. she has no regrets and i think that's all we can hope for win. lose or draw.that is until my 4 week old grandson kicks or hits or shoots his first ball. thanks to all for enhancing the experience.
  2. i got to see AE against alcoa and CAK this week. south greene had best be ready for the game of their life. AE has all the tools. don't know anythig about either greene teams, but i suspect greeneville and CAK is a tossup
  3. AE by one on last play of the game. alcoa led big early. CAK won by 11 over pigeon forge in an outstanding game by two good teams. CAK AE should be a good game of contrasting styles for region 2 at alcoa wednesday.
  4. it appears that with CAK's win at Scott tonite and Stone's loss to alcoa saturday that CAK has clinched the district. any details on the alcoa win? alcoa seems to be on a roll and friday's game at CAK looks to be a good one. senior night for 5 CAK girls who have represented their school well for four years.
  5. scott is indeed a tough place to win but CAK was 33 points better in knoxville.
  6. i think CAK goes to 10-1 wirh a come from behind district win over a good Alcoa team and a win tonite over Wheaton from chicago af all places. lost a double ot game over the holidays in a north carolina tourney. big news is alysa hammaker gets 1000 career point for Cak. still not sure of the spelling after 4 years. how's the rest of the ditrict doing so far
  7. how are stone memorial and loudon
  8. congrats to CAK's three seniors mary thompson, ruthie edmunds and brittany hoffman. 3 state titles and 2 undefeated seasons in 4 years. lotta hard work. leadership and character.
  9. you gotta be kiddin me. no disrespect to gville and dburg, but they're no bearden, a team CAK handled and hung 4 on the berlin wall in knoxville.
  10. a little intrigue opening round with new schools here not a lot of info on them.certain they are totally pumped to be here and will play to win. nice to see some public schools. congrats to them and good luck. a lot of CAK's tougher aaa games early season. question is have they still got the intensity, certainly have talent at every position and depth. i think focus for some of the younger players will be key. only start three seniors, albeit very good, experinced ones.
  11. so much for not giving them some bulletin board material
  12. not familiar with colliervile team and wonder why they would spend the weekend playing knoxville's best. how will they matchup with cak and bearden?
  13. pre season ranking has to be a prediction. nobody's kicked a ball yet. easy big fella
  14. saw that game , what a game, best 5 dollars ever spent, what high school sports is all about. little bit of a budding rivalry as CAK knocked gibbs out of playoffs last year. in overtime. i bet taylor missed 2 shots all night. what an effort. gritty effort by CAK to outlast a good gibbs taem. hope they see each other in regions again. congrats to both teams.
  15. my 4th and last is a junior at cak. pray for me. i'm broke. seriously, i've seen the hard work and dedication of a lot of people, parents, faciulty and kids grow the school and atheletics has been a large pert of of the experience. my hope for them all is that they can look back at their accomplishments and be better for the experience, win lose or draw. life has a way of dealing out all three.
  16. tell your girls to take it easy on us
  17. i feel like i'm at a juco when i'm at stone. nice campus. aren't they going to aaa. i hate to see all these changes in these districts as it hurts the rivalries.we've never come close to state in basketball. are there more public or private non d2 schools there, cause the privates sure dominate in a/aa soccer.
  18. been waiting for this post. i'm a novice and don't know how this thing works. i have watched this district now for three years and seen anderson county, stone and loudon fight it out. last year i saw a really young atheletic cak team with a new coach start to believe and do some damage by year's end. this will be a tough district and any team that makes it out will be battle tested. cak returns most of the team from last year, including four girls from the state champ soccer team and will be fun to watch. i'ld include them in any discussion of district favorites. hammaker was all district last year, and should benefit from a little better post play. good lock and health to all.

    CAK vs. FRA

it was the same story for CAK, more depth and to many weapons, controlling tempo and pressuring opponents defense, shut down defense with 3 seniors. CAK pretty much subbed on schedule in the first half, though not so much in the second. FRA maybe didn't have the bench of CAK, but, to their credit, had enough left to go down fighting in the second half. for all the chatter about ND and FRA all week, CAK won because they had the better team. i said preseason those freshman from 2 years ago had grown up and wanted another one and congrats to them on a great season. it was the same story for CAK, more depth and to many weapons, controlling tempo and pressuring opponents defense, shut down defense with 3 seniors. CAK vs. FRA

any details on fra nd? sounds like a barnburner.
  22. agreed. 18 shots on goal and 4 saves. she had that in the first 20 minutes, one unbelievable save in the first half. i thought she played great.
  23. sc was a well coached team that left it all on the field. really good keeper stopped 2 or 3 sure bets. in the end CAk's depth and fresh legs got the better of them, which has been CAK's story all year. they just have to many weapons. it seemed sc's first goal rattled CAK, but they quickly regained composure and controlled the ball for most of the remainder of the first hall, kept the pressure on the sc defense and finally got some past the keeper. second half was more of the same, CAK mostly in control and just wore down a game sc defense. don't know for sure, but would say CAK outshot sc 3 or 4 to 1. CAKs depth and experience was probably the difference. sc should be proud of their effort. its always a shame to go home, as CAK well remembers from last year.
