  1. 9 stiches above her eye on Tuesday night, 19 points tonight.
  2. How funny. You are so sure about how many points Cousin scored and you don't know where "25" is?
  3. Word of the day. hater - One who hates; One who expresses unfounded or inappropriate hatred or dislike, particularly if motivated by jealousy.
  4. Good job greenergrass, I goofed. Now, what do you think about Maddux's future at CPA?
  5. FRA - DII BGA- DII MBA-D-II Ensworth-DII Brentwood Academy-DII Father Ryan - DII CPA IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES NOT GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE AREA...And don't try to say DCA and Goodpasture, the people that attend the schools above would never step foot in either of the 2.
  6. You are darn right! It is just too bad that they are losing some key seniors and moving to AAA next year. I don't envy her job next year.
  7. CPA is losing 2 very good players, do they have any good young players coming up? What are the expectations for the team over the next couple of years? I have a hard time seeing Maddux sticking around if the program is not winning. He is a competitor and likes to win. You can only do so much as a coach. You can't win if you don't have talent and there are a bunch of schools around him competing to bring that talent in. Now, they are the only private school in that area not offering scholarships. I don't see him being there 3 years from now.
  8. This stuff goes on with every team. It is not some debacle. Think about it, we are commenting on player's parents comments. Of course they are going to say things when they lose. Basketball is a streaky sport and alot of teams can win against one another on a given night. Shelbyville did not have a bad regular season; so would we be having this conversation if they were still playing. They got put out by a team that just played better on that night...Period. I hate to use the word "almost", but for crying out loud, Belmont "almost" beat Duke in the NCAA tournament last year. Not to mention, Duke has lost to some teams that they normally don't lose to this year. Does this mean that they have "strife" going on in the program? Does this mean that Coach K has lost control or is not doing a good job??? Ummmm..of course not...It is the real world; unfortunately, Shelbyville hasn't had to deal with it in a long time.
  9. "Sad to see all this going this way".... Your coach got Coach of the Year in a tough district and ya'll did just not have the talent this year. Come on, are you serious?? Welcome to reality my friend. There are college teams that get to recruit legally that have not had the run that the Eaglettes have. I guess they should fire Pat Summitt this year hun? Do you have any idea how many well coached teams did not even make it out of the district this year? "Sad to see all this going this way".....Count your blessings and quit looking at all the negatives. In my eyes, Shelbyville girls basketball has been blessed with good favor and still is.
  10. I am sure Coach Maddux is a great person and has good Christian values, but my goodness, you make it sound like he was coaching some inner city school that deals with poverty and single parent (mom) homes. What kind of talent does CPA have coming up and will it play a part in how long he stays? CPA is a class act in all sports that I have seen and is a good example of a Christian school.
  11. Who was impressive yesterday? Teams and individuals? Any surprises?
  12. March is a great player, plays good defense and can go inside or out. I do think that Marshall County will be very good again, but will be more beatable than last year. Losing the two guards will definitely hurt them. Both of them were deadly from downtown. Teams could not leave and help on March much because they would knock down the three consistantly. Their replacements will have to be able to do the same thing for MC to be as effective. If not, teams will pack it in and see what happens.
  13. The Gallatin comment makes you look like an idiot. Are you a McCain - Palin campaign worker?
  14. None on here or boys site.. What is up with that?
  15. this team is full of experience and talent, how will they do?
  16. c No, you are wrong. Look at your words, which are straight from the handbook I see. Good. It refers to "practice" during the school day. That want go into affectt in Oct. 27th. Right now is conditioning/weight lifting and open facilities. Furthermore, this has to be available to all students in the building. How can all of the perspective athletes of the school participate in something that is offered an hour and a half a day, during the school day. If you are looking to try out for the team and want to get in shape...I guess you are out of luck because the team is doing conditioning/weight lifting and open facilities while you are in real class. When the day is over and you walk down to the gym there is no one there because your school did not read the part that said "prior to or after the school day". The reason that is in there is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. "PRACTICE, PRACTICE?" -Allen Iverson
  17. Coach Gat, how do you feel about the following? According to TSSAA, basketball teams, by rule, can be having weight training/conditioning and open facilities during this time...until Oct. 27 For those of you who don't know what those are....here are the definitions directly from TSSAA. Weight Training / Conditioning ??“ Must be a generic type program that would be beneficial to all students and not sport specific. Exception: In baseball and girls softball, players may throw to condition arms. Open Facilities ??“ Schools may use their facilities for students in their building prior to or at the conclusion of the school day. Coaches may serve in a supervisory capacity only. There is no instruction, no teaching, no coaching, etc. Coaches may not participate or play in any manner. It is a free play type atmosphere. Therefore, if a school is having "pick up games" during a school period or block..they are in violation. Why are they in violation? Because they are having OPEN FACILITIES during the school day, which is not "prior to or at the conclusion of the school day" There are many schools in this state that have a period of the day for basketball and football, and some...all sports. If this was legal, and done in every school, I would be fine with it. But as we all know, it is not, and the school who are doing this are benefiting from it. Below is the link to the 2008-09 handbook. Go to pg.21 for the definitions and pg.25 for basketball calender. http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/handbook.pdf ng?
  18. You say that they are violating a State Mandate that has to do with education...did not know about that, good info. What I want to know is are they violating the TSSAA rules by playing pick-up games during their class time before Oct.27th? My interpretation says they definitely are.

  20. Coachgat, I am new to this site, who do you coach? Furthermore, does your school have it's last period or block of the day as a "sports period"? If so, what do they do during this time until Oct. 27th? I know that they have this in some counties that surround Davidson County. I also know that since it is considered a "physical education" class that is ok to throw a basketball out there and say have fun. Maybe there is a reason that Davidson County (Metro) schools have not won a State Basketball Championship in a while. I am all for hard work and student athletes putting in the time to make themselves better, but it should be an opportunity that is available for everyone.
  21. In regards to your Shelbyville story, the rule states that "a school cannot practice with or scrimmage another school until both schools have practiced a minimum of three days." Im sure that is not the only rule they have broken. I mean...who is watching, right?
  22. It would be interesting to know how past state champs and other good programs have it set up. I believe that those who have that last period of school for basketball are at a huge advantage. If you do not have that and your girls play a fall sport..it is safe to say that many of those girls don't touch a basketball during that time. On the other hand, if you do have last period basketball and have girls that play a fall sport, they still get basketball time during volleyball / soccer season. They are allowed to play basketball everyday, just with "no instruction".
