Wish the best for the Burros

So many forget that there is way more to being a HC than the X's and O's or the actual game itself. Fundraising, Strength Program, Eligiability, Grades, equipment orders, equipment inventory, ordering buses, and a big one field maintenance to name a few. This is not something you can just wake up and do. You have to be molded and groomed to learn how to do a lot of this stuff. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be taught how to do these things from some of the best in Metro before I was an HC. Being a HC is not all its cracked up to be and it is a very selfless job and requires a lot of time and sacrifice. Hillsboro needs an experienced coach who knows the in's and out's of how Metro works. If not they will go downhill quick.

I believe he has several opportunities outside of Metro already.

Hey Work hope you're doing well. Let me try to shed some insight on this. I feel that the true rivalries in Metro have faded compared to what they used to be. Some may be because of scheduling others because a student may bounce around to 2-3 different schools before they graduate. My parents still talk about the Overton vs Antioch rivalry back in the day. Times have just changed and it stinks as a Metro fan. I use to spend my free Fridays at Jerry Pigue Stadium but now choose to go watch county rivalries and my other coaching buddies. As far as playing Pearl. They do a great job with those kids and its always fun to go eat a fish sandwich, listen to the band, and do it all while watching good football. We didn't play Pearl in 2013-2014 because we got out rear ends handed to us by Riverdale in the 1st rd of the playoffs in 2012. So to see where we stood and to prepare us for playing a Rutherford County school in the playoffs the next year I chose to play Smyrna and Riverdale. Our kids needed to see that before the playoffs. Thats what really happened Firebird. Good Luck to all the Metro Schools still playing. I may go back to the old stomping grounds friday to see those Ravens. They are having a great year I am proud of those Seniors

Game Notes: objective keep the CR offense off the field and run the clock down without turnovers. Also, make the CR defense tired and get them to the 4th quarter within 1 possession. Our kids did a great job with that. Yes we have a great kicker and he is always in the game plan. As far as read option....... We did not run read option this week nor did we have a formation in the game plan that set up a read option. I've learned over the years that every game that you play on Friday night is not always going to be fun to watch or fun to call. Sometimes you just got a run the ball and stick with the game plan. Our kids did a great job of following the game plan and believed every step of the way that we could win. I am proud of them. As far as your personal attacks on myself. I've spent many countless hours blood sweat and tears over at CR. We had a great program and top-notch facilities. I have many friends still at cane Ridge some of which are still on staff. Whatever problem you have with me I'm sure you have my number in your cell phone. Feel free to call me anytime and not hide behind a screen name. There was no need to try and take a shot like that and I will pray for you and your family. In this profession we all get a lot of sticks and stones but ultimately I love what I do and am thankful for all my friends in this profession who go throught the trials and tribulations each year trying to mold these young men through this great game. Did Woodward apply? He would defiantly start the revival of Antioch. I think Lopez would do a good job as well. Are there any other younger guys looking to be a HC in Metro?

Lol yes I talk to myself often. We are moving some guys around to help them be more productive. We are gonna do a lot of the same things this year but a TE will be more involved this year as well as adding more formations that will help guys have better opportunities for success.

I heard they were going back to the country boy special. All linemen TE to TE even at fullback. But I also heard they were going back to wingt or maybe the OC has been evaluating and the Gameplan will be well thought out just like the rest of the team offensively, defensively and special teams. No..... they changed their minds I think it will be wish bone triple option. Geez gentlemen just chill. We will put the pieces to the puzzle in the correct places. We have a great group of kids and coaches.

I'd love to see Coach Woodward back. It would great for that program.

McKee is a good coach. Centennial got a good one and they will benefit having him.

You can start spring football at any time. 15 days to get in 10 practices. Unless you're Metro they make you wait till May and won't let multiple sport athletes participate till they are eliminated from spring sport competition.

The weight room is intense and the players are aware of the expectations and have been holding themselves accountible. Everyone is going up in weight and we are way ahead from where we were this time last year. Players understand the fight for positions started months ago and they are showing who really wants it. As far as starting positions: All positions are open at this point and will remain open until Spring is complete. Players understand that their position is never safe week in and week out and 100% effort will be required to maintain their depth chart status. Backfield: We have several guys competing for the B-Back spot. Which include 3 upcoming sophomores and 3 upcoming Juniors. All the up coming Juniors not only got quality playing time last season but all had TDs as well. New formations added this year will give us the ability to have multiple backs in at once which means our backfield and o-line will be relied on heavily. All this to compliment the passing game provided by our Qb (a position spot which will be a battle Im excited to see) and our returning receivers. I hope this is what you are looking for. Should be a great and intense Spring. Come out and support.

Yea you're right I don't. I just wasted 3 years off my life and gave almost all my time, heart, soul, and money to a program cause I didn't have what it takes. Your opinion is based of ignorance. You know nothing about me. Sometimes I just get tired of taking the high road but I'm going to choose to once again.

I am very happy for the kids and the success they are having. I think playing most of the starters as sophomores last season has helped them with experience this season. Its a good group and we knew it was a good group both the sophomores and the juniors went undefeated as freshmen. This is not the first season CR has gone 8-2 and probably won't be the last. But as for most teams.... athletes come in cycles and this year and next year should be good seasons for the Ravens.

fb247 thanks for your opinion. Im sorry you feel that way. As a former HC you are not the first and won't be the last to be negative towards me, its part of the job. Don't worry FB247 i am happy where i am and don't plan on leaving anytime soon. I hope it makes you happy that you don't have to worry about this guy. Leave your opinions to yourself. I will always be hungry. I am happy where I am and I believe my last job made me a lot better coach dealing with what we delt with during my stint. If you ever need anything you know where to find me. As far as future jobs...We will just have to see. That being said I will be a HC again I'm sure.
