  1. I know this is a thread for East/Greeneville game, but...thought I would chime in quickly with the new region for AAA minus Greeneville. Cherokee, Cocke County, Jefferson County, Morristown East, Morristown West, Sevier County, and Seymour will make up the new IMAC in 2009. I have heard Campbell County and Karns could possibly be in the region but I find that highly illogical. Also heard that Cherokee could play in region with Dobyns-Bennet, Sullivan South, etc. I find this unlikely, too. Cherokee is closer to the IMAC conference if travel is as big a factor as they make it seem.
  2. Found out from the Greeneville Sun that the Devils will be AA beginning next year, but wanting to play up in Northeast Tennessee in District 1. Would like to hear thoughts from the Greeneville faithful. I have heard the teams they would join if they are allowed in District 1 would include North Greene, South Greene, Unicoi County, Johnson County, Elizabethton, and Sullivan East? Personally, as a fan of IMAC sports...I am disappointed to see the Devils go. Especially love to watch the basketball teams you guys field. But, understand you must do whats best for the school.
  3. RebelRon beat me to it...Was gonna say there is more to 4A in East Tennessee than just region 3. Both Morristown schools have a rich tradition (East owns a title, West played for one in 2003). Up north there is Sullivan South and Tennessee High. Down south the Chattanooga schools know how to put up a fight. Being from Blount County (not a grad of Maryville), as much as I hated losing to the Rebels, I always admired and had tremendous respect for their program. I know Coach Quarles and he is a great guy. Best coach in the state is not a bad reputation t have either.
  4. Okay, let me take these one at a time. Yes, I have posted things under the East/West post. I started it. Because I am a fan of that rivalry. I am also a fan of Alcoa/Maryville games. I like the rivalry. I also enjoy a great many games in the Knoxville area. Sorry. Guilty as charged. I am not a relative, friend, or even aquaintence of any of the officials at the game on Friday night. I am not the said official from Friday night. I am not a "West fan" as you like to paint me. Heck, I'm not even from Hamblen County. Ah..conspiracy theories. Everybody's got one. In this case its very unfounded. There was no biased intent or malice tilted towards Daniel Boone by the officials. They just flat out stunk. I saw them make bad call after bad call against both sides on Friday night. You seem to have all the information pertent to the game yourself. See how ridiculous you sound? Accusing me of being an inside source, of being the official "out to screw Boone." I can say the very same about you. How do YOU know the clock operator? Hm? How do YOU know all the events that happened on Friday night? Are you a Boone coach? Hm? Maybe YOU are the clock operator or the said back judge trying to cover his mistake! Hm?? Perhaps?? Maybe??? To further my point about the absurdity of your accusations...you say you read my posts, yet, I never once mentioned a back judge referring to the final events of this game. It is apparent that my esteemed colleague on this board is grasping at straws. Perhaps instead of groaning about spilt milk and whining up conspiracy theories....let's take a look at the overall picture. Boone had ample opportunities to put the game away before the final 1:51. They had 4 downs in OT to tie the score and force another OT. If it had been West High on the other end....things would be reversed. Its football. My story is straight. And clear. Perhaps it is you, who owes everyone an explanation, Mr. Clock Operator.
  5. I was not lied to. West had roughly 4.2 secs to spike the ball. A little over 2 after the spike play. It would appear the Boone team was not notified of the differential. But I do know for certain that time kept on the field was different from that showing on the scoreboard. To your other point...its certainly not heard of to let the official know of your intensions. These guys know what situation teams are in (certainly not defending refs...especially NET ones), but they know what a team has or is going to do. And that anticipation will normally work in said teams favor. Like in college or the NFL..teams will inform a referee when they want to call time. Say, "I want time with 3 seconds" or "I'm going to call time when the play clock is down to 1". In this situation, the official knew West was on the line trying to spike the ball. He did the proper thing at the end of waiting for the chains to be set. West did everything they could to get up to the line and spike the ball, which they did.
  6. This discussion is pretty pointless. For one, the TSSAA will not over turn the final outcome of the game. For two, there was NOT 1.3 seconds left in the game when the quarterback spiked the ball. There was 4.0 seconds. Time was being kept on the field due to prior clock malfunctions during the game. The scoreboard clock and the official time kept on the field were 3 seconds different. And yes, there was plenty of time on the first down play to set the chains, spike the ball, and attempt the field goal. If you want to argue the roughing the kicker, thats one thing. However, I tend to believe he was tackled after the kick because normally that is a situation where the ref swallows the whistle unless its just plain as day. I feel sorry for Boone losing such a game. They did play their hearts out. Unfortunately, Morristown West was able to make just one more play at the very end, and the final score indicated as such. But lets remember, both teams...BOTH TEAMS had plenty of chances to put the game away before that final scenario...Boone especially. And before anyone thinks it...no, I'm not a NET official.
  7. Congratulations to East High on their win. Trojans played their hearts out against the Canes and vice versa. I am not knocking either team in any way here, but I would like to have seen how this game plays out without the 8 total turnovers (5 West/ 3 East). 35 total points in the game, and I believe 28 were results of teams "making the breaks and when they came their way...score" as the ole cliche goes. But still, a very exciting game that lived up to its billing. My hat's off to both teams.
  8. Oh..come now Lady30Canes5. Its all good entertainment. Everybody gets a chance to say their piece. Yes, West fans are pretty cocky...but East fans have been strutting with their chest out this year, too. Honestly, what good fans don't proudly proclaim the success of their teams? This is exactly why this game is my favorite of the year. Because the Morristown fans are so passionate about it..but you know after the game is played and the dust is settled...its still a great community. Now...back to the prognostications! ....and a little trash talk!
  9. I think this is the quietest these two teams have been all year. Its the city championship and nobody is talking! Interesting... Teams must be scheming. Here's a suggestion: The double-reverse hook-n-ladder statue of liberty all go.
  10. Not saying that at all. Greeneville will make it a 3 horse race. But if you look at the standings, the winner of this game will be in first (could be tied with the Devils at the top, but first nonetheless). ShadeTreeCoaches...glad you can see the future. Instead of worrying about high school football games, why not tell us how our country will be in a few years..more importantly, the economy. See the future and let us know so we can try and turn things around and prevent any catastrophes! And I hate to correct you, but the majority of players on East's squad were a part of the 10-0 loss at the hands of West last year (who also had quiet a few players in the game). So, I guess they HAVE lost to West before. One final note, as far as SOMETHING TO PROVE...West has the same mentality, so I guess thats a push. Considering East has been getting all the pomp and circumstance (rightfully so), West has been sort of the 2nd story this year. A win over the Canes would do wonders in helping the Trojans the rest of the way. Folks, I cannot predict the future, but I can tell you the score WILL be 0-0 when the opening kickoff occurs. Looking forward to a great game on Friday!
  11. Alright fellers, lets here it. City championship is up for grabs, but more importantly, so is first place in the Five Rivers. First, let me commend everyone associated with both programs on their fine teams. Also, a great...GREAT venue to watch a football at Burke-Toney Stadium. Probably the best facility in the area. Quick analysis: WEST - A lot of big playmakers on this team (as has become the norm). Senior QB who has the ability to get the ball in the hands of a number of weapons. Powerful one/two punch at RB. EAST - Very similar this year to the Trojans. Believe they can finally match West when it comes to size and speed. A number of weapons in the backfield offensively. Defense, though, appears to be the strength of this team. I give the Trojans the early nod because of the 37-7 cruise over Crockett and the bye week while East had to fight through two very tough ballgames against Cherokee and Knox Fulton. Both teams a very prone to mistakes in terms of penalties and turnovers. Ladies and gentlemen, I know its cliche, but General Neyland's words could not ever be more true...team with the fewest mistakes will win. West 28, East 24
  12. First..agreed. Burke-Toney is one of the finest facilities in East Tennesee. As far as WCRK...they are still there. WCRK is still the voice of the Canes as they always have been. There's another FM radio station out of Bean Station that comes in to do the games now, as well. Morristown West has the same situation. Personally, I always enjoy listening to those old AMs that have been there for years like, WCRK, WRGS (Cherokee) and WGRV (Greeneville) when I get them. WMTN is the home for the Trojans. Has the old throwback high school feeling to it. Plus the announcers know the programs well and are very informative.
  13. Funny you mention "The Q" as being the "official" voice of the Hurricanes. Pretty sure I remember AM 1150 WCRK being the HOME and VOICE of Morristown East...even dating back to Morristown High School. Not really sure "The Q" has a leg to stand on referring to themselves as the official voice. But getting back to the point of this forum...East to win. And if its closer than 14 points, I would be worried as a Hurricane fan.
